  1. 1. What Team you on?

That graffiti was clearly done by a Team Valor to make Team Mystic look bad.

That was my thinking exactly. Slander!

But seriously that's a really shitty thing to do. Whoever did that should have all their Pokemon sent to Professor Willow and all their items trashed.

*Edit - Oh, and also, I'm gonna have to ban you now Jack. And dean too, I'm pretty sure he's Team Insight.

What's the matter, Ethan? You scared?

I shouldn't be sharing this with a bunch of Mystic filth but just in case we have some Valor bros on here, here is a page for checking the server status in real time. It works for the US and the UK.

I'm on Team Instinct, added a poll up above. "There is no shelter from the storm"

There's a video circling about that's a rush of people rushing to get a Vaporeon at Central Park. I'm on mobile so PITA to find n share but I'll throw it up tomorrow, along with a pciture of the inaugral 30 person Team Instinct Newcastle walkabout. I wasn't around but will be joining our second on Monday evening.

I don't hugely botherr with the gyms, though since I've been in tthe countryside captured a couple to get the coins from just cos they're usually weaker pokemon and usually not like 10 other people around immediatly jumping on it like in Newcastle.

Lots of bugs still in this, but starting to decline and more consistent uptime of late. I imagine now the global roll out is presumably finished with Japan we'll see their focus shift to fixes and sttabilitty, then rolling out more features and pokemon.

I've done enough Rattata catching now since I evolved one into Raticate.

I came across a Pikachu today... but I couldn't catch it. I was joining family today to run some errands. Figured I see what's around while going to some stores. Pikachu popped up at a restaurant across the street which also happened to be a Pokestop. However, it spawned right next to the Pokestop icon and each time I tried tap on it, I would get the Pokestop open instead. Eventually traffic continues and I wasn't about to yell out, "Hey fam, pull the hell over so I can catch a Pikachu!"

Coincidentally, I have to imagine the car in front of us that pulled into the restaurant's parking lot was actually trying to catch it. I assume that because 1) It's not popular at lunch time, and 2) There was a damn Pikachu and everyone is playing this game. On my walk, I went down by the gun club which is the second closest Pokestop to me, and a dude jumped out of his truck, got out his phone, got back in his truck, and drove off.

I also don't think the game properly measures walking distances. 0.3 km left my ass.

It's purely off GPS, which I believe in personal/commercial grade only goes to an accuracy of 8m (which tbh is still pretty dang good) which is why Google augment theirs with wi-fi spots. Remember you need the app open and active for it to record stuff.

My little sister had grabbed it but said it wasn't working, I asked where she was walking "up and down dads house". I'm like "You know you need to be at the scale of walking up and down his street, and beyond".

Absolutely massive difference between cities and rural areas in saturation of poke stops and gyms. I'll be honest I was surprised my mums ex-colliery village had 3 stops and a gym (two of which were mining memorials, the other a graveyard gate and a post office). But you're fucked for pokemon choice, mainly the basic pidgeys, rattatas etc. At least in a city it's easy to travel to areas with the rarer stuff, especially as they tend to only spawn near stops (Though I'm suspecting they're starting to spawn them near people too, my grans village which had jack all spawned magikarp n stuff right outside her house.

I want to play Pokemon Go, but I find it's so limiting if you don't live in a major urban area, or commute to one for work. My moderately sized suburban village just isn't getting it done on either the Gym or Pokestop scale, and the Pokemon in my area aren't worth me going out to collect.

So any tips for a Pokemon trainer who's somewhat down on the game?

Finally found the article that mentioned the walking distance of the Reddit guy who has completed Pokemon Go. Obviously there are still missing Pokemon, but point being the game tracked his walking distance as 153km, but he had a health app open that tracked him at about 200km.

On the technical side, the game will not count distance if you're going faster than normal walking speed. So when you're driving a car, that's no good. When it comes to biking, you'll have to take it easy as it has been reported 10 MPH (or 16 KPH) is the limit. Some have reported going a bit faster can make it count, but it seems flawed and would be a waste of time should it end up not working for you.

Main reason I wanted to post was to display the image of the Team Leaders. Obviously Team Valor has the coolest Team Leader, Candela!

You're probably gonna have to take day trips or find another game until they start adding new stops/gyms.

Valor is my least favorite of the three, even putting aside the joking team rivalry stuff.

If you want my serious answer, I don't particular like any of them.

I wish Candela didn't have the giant collar thing going on. Blanche might be the best, but it's too anime for me. Spark seems cool, but I don't know if hoodie+jacket is actually a good fashion decision. Also his name is Spark.

I don't particularly like Blanche, it's just that I don't actively dislike her design like the other two (though Blanche is a terrible, terrible name... *shudder*).  I don't like Candela's buttoned-up, almost military vibe (I think it goes with the idea of Valor but in this instance it's just boringly executed), and then with Spark he just seems like a douche.

So who has gotten batteries then?

My battery is showing its age, especially with more powerful phones. It charges at about 102% the rate my phone uses power(I can use the battery saver to reduce the amount my phone uses, but it turns off as soon as I start charging :/). Met a lad with a turbocharge battery today (which my phone handily supports) so really tempting to move my game up a bit. It's the size of a laptop battery mind :o

Also noticed the local pokemon (the ones around the streets of my home) while still mostly pidgey/zubat/rattatta mix have started gaining magnemites, voltorbs n even a porygon the last few days too. I wonder if it's due to the concentration of players around here (we're otherwise somewhat limited on stops)

Oh yeah have folks been using this?

https://pokevision.com/

Been a life saver since the "Nearby" function been disabled. And got me a few cool pokemon with it. Though it's also down with the Pokemon servers are down, and sometimes can be a bit finnicky but most of the time it's pretty spot on. Usefuly to have a tab open on your phone browser with it, especially if you get a rare pokemon pop up in "Nearby" and want a good idea of where to head. Let's you check out other spots too if you're curious on having an adventure away and want to know where is worthwhile.
