The Witcher

Were you talking about the other witcher? I cannot recall his name. I didn't have trouble targeting him, but I had quite a bit of trouble not dying. I finally figured out I needed to just run around until his Quen wore off.

Yeah, it was that bit. I was trying to do it without any potions to help out at first (wasn't prepared). Big mistake. Gave that up after a few tries. Although, I reckon I could've done it with lock-on (and a lot of patience), considering how good I'd made my dodge.

Letho is his name. I didn't really have a problem targeting him for attacking, but it would've been useful to be able to keep him in view in order to see whether he was going to throw a bomb, use a sign or whatever. Once I'd taken a few potions and used a whetstone it became a lot easier though. Just really pissed off at a needlessly frustrating gameplay decision. On the plus side, it did give me an opportunity to change my decision as regards to Iorveth before the fight. I didn't really think it through before and now I'm happy with my choice.

I was playing on hard and didn't want to reload. I think some TAY guys were watching my Livestream. Hardest battle by far. I only had some oil for my blade — no time for potions, of course. Did you side with Iorveth? I did! But yeah, because my build was Quen + Igni/Agni(can never remember these damned signs), I had to just wait until his shield ran out because mine lasted longer. Oh, and tumble often.

Wow. I can't imagine trying that on hard, especially without potions. I just kept dodging around and attacking when there was an opening and also using Aard to knock him off-balance. I am going for a more swordy-dodgy-Queny-Aardy-type build but trying to block and counter really does not work in that battle (no riposte icon because no lock-on!)

I sided with Roche for that bit. I'm not a huge fan of the guy but I did receive a letter from Thaler that said to trust him, and Thaler seemed a knowledgable guy in the first game (although I've not finished it). On a more positive note, what that did do, different to yours, is prevent the massacre of non-humans back in Flotsam.

FINISHED THE WITCHER!!

The final part with the ice plains and all was a bit over the top, and I would have liked to have a few more dialogue options to agree with or disagree with Jaques and the King of the Wild Hunt. Good ending though. The Wild King's speech about how your the perfect being of destruction was great.

Ultimately the way things went I didn't regret my choice to support the order mainly cause of how Siegfried always supported me as thanks.

The ending CG thing was confusing though. Was I supposed to be horrified that Geralt had killed a Witcher or something? Despite the fact I killed Berengar.

Now to get back to other games....ahhh feels good! :bun-supah:

So, after an internet outage, I furthered my progress into Witcher 2.

Among other things, here's what happened:

1. Holy shit, Saskia's the dragon.

2. I want to shove a sword up Philippa's ass.

3. Stennis learned the hard way that flouting hubris when an angry mob is outside your door is a quick way to die.

4. Iorveth isn't bad. Better than Roche, really. And at least all his men don't die if you go with Saskia.

5. Henselt's a douche. Honor, my ass. His honor only extends as far as his nose.

6. Every single Nilfgaardian I see in the next game is going to die a painful death.

I think Trish winds up pretty safe, regardless. Although I did have to make a choice regarding her and put her wellbeing first.

As for the dragon, well, it shows up at the end and attacks. Geralt defeats it and it's impaled on a broken tree. You're then given a choice to just walk away or kill it. I figured it was done for and decided to put it out of its misery. When asked Geralt then explains that it was a once majestic creature (I believe dragons in the Witcher universe don't actually attack humans unprovoked) but since someone was clearly controlling it, it would never be free. Therefore, death was the best course of action.

I wouldn't call it a blind spot. It's actually kinda cool that you can see such different sides to the story. I no doubt discovered some things that Ioverth followers wouldn't have.

Woah, so many spoiler tags :unsure2:

...

Anyway! Quick question: about how long is the first Witcher?

I've been on kind of a PC RPG roll lately, and now that I've finished both Oblivion and New Vegas, I'm strongly considering finally playing this.

But I've only got about 2 weeks left before uni starts again, so I wanna make sure that's enough time to finish it without necessarily rushing.
