TheMightyEthan
Yes, and everyone who doesn't buy it directly from GoG doesn't care at all about supporting the developer and might as well pirate it, because CDP saw absolutely no profit from that purchase.
Faiblesse Des Sens
They saw much, much, less, and you supported their competitor. Which is another issue: Wanting competition to flourish.
TheMightyEthan
And if it were only about supporting the dev, then yes, buying it from GoG would definitely be the way to go. There are, however, other considerations, such as how much money I want/am able to spend on the product. It's not like buying some bootleg copy off a guy on the street and saying "I bought it so I'm good". If CDP didn't want people buying their games through other channels than GoG they could choose not to sell them elsewhere, and the fact that they didn't shows that they must be okay with people buying it on other services. Sure, it's better for them if people buy it on GoG, but what's best for them is not the only consideration here.
P4: Gritty Reboot
What Ethan said. If copies sold on Steam were so detrimental to CDP they'd just sell it on their site exclusively. They are free to do so.

Forgive me for not basing all my decisions solely on what's best for the developer, and selfishly taking my own resources and such into account.  Hey! You know what would be REALLY good for CDP? If you just sent them a check for $5,000. I bet they'd really appreciate it, and you'd be supporting the developer EVEN MORE!
Yantelope V2
So the patcher wouldn't work so I just downloaded the EE version from GOG and uninstalled the old version, I figured that'd be easier for reinstalling later anyway. It seems the revamped lighting and things aren't in the PC version which I find confusing. Â Eurogamer is confused too. "Update: We've now updated our PC build of The Witcher 2 and note that many of the 360 enhancements - specifically pad support, lighting and visuals - appear to be unchanged based on an initial playthrough of the Prologue. We've approached CD Projekt RED for comment."
RockyRan
Performance seems like it took a hit (definitely did for me. Jerkier and less than 30 FPS whereas before I got a solid 30 FPS). Folks on GOG are postulating that it's coming from the Depth of Field blur that seems to be more exaggerated in the Enhanced Edition for some strange reason. Â This is weird and all. I was planning to plunge into the game again as soon as the EE was released but I think I'll wait for a while for the dust to settle. Everyone seems to be confused at everything right now. Waldorf and Statler
I'm early into Chapter 1 [doing side missions] and enjoying the game. I'm only playing on normal but can already see what some people were talking about difficulty. I'm only playing in normal and once in a while I find myself surrounded by Nekkers in the woods and could easily get obliterated if it wasn't for Quen. Â Anybody know how Quen gets better in the enhanced edition? I haven't upgraded Quen yet, but I can only get hit once before it disappears and I am forced to go back and recast it. TheMightyEthan
Does anyone know if it's possible to get the Witcher 2 CD Key if you have the Steam version? There's no option to view key when I right-click on it (@FDS I didn't buy it on steam, it was gifted to me). I'd like to get the backup copy. Eleven
Try going here: http://www.thewitcher.com/backup  Say Digital, No proof. They'll ask for your steam profile to be set to public, and your profile name. Then they'll get back to you.  Just got mine within 24 hours. Of course I bought it. But I doubt it'd make a difference. They just wanna know if you have the game or not, probably...

deanb
What you playing the game on Waldorf? By the timing it could be either editions, but you've shown no signs of playing it before unlike others so I assume 360? Â Not as much sexy time in Witcher 2 compared to 1, but I think by this point Geralt is pretty monogamous.
Waldorf and Statler
Yeah by this play-time amount in the Witcher Geralt had fucked everything that moves. I'm enjoying the tie-ins with the novels [i read them in spanish] so I'm all  "Hey! I read about that!"  I wish there were more creatures in the game so far though. And yeah I'm playing on the 360. I think I've done every interesting sidequest about now, just recently made myself a cool hooded armor.  It's funny how the game difficulty greatly depends on how many enemies are attacking you. If it's a few the game is ridiculously easy. Add a couple more and it's "DODGE SHIT DODGE, SWING ONCE, SHIT BITCH DODGE DODGE!". Really enjoying it though. I'm hoping there are more hooded armors in the other chapter. I love the look of Geralt with hooded armor.
Johnny
What difficulty are you playing on? On Dark, I don't really think there's such a fight as "ridiculously easy." You can get taken out by a couple of Nekkers if you get careless.
Waldorf and Statler
Well this is my first playthrough. If it wasn't for me hearing how tough this game is I would have started on the second hardest difficulty, but since I have and have died a couple of times already I am playing on normal. I don't get bragging rights, but it's weird how it fluctuates from easy fights to that one battle that utterly obliterates you. Â example: creatures hurt my health WAY too much. I fought a couple of ghosts/spectres with swords and they could kill easily kill me in 4-5 hits if I wasn't careful.
Eleven
My steam copy won't start... it just shows me the popup/small window that says: Updating the witcher 2: Enhanced Edition. then "Ready to play in approximately: 0 seconds". The bar is full. Play Game button is greyed out. Â Anyone got this? Or got this for any other game? Â Also, when I backup my witcher 2 copy, it never has the install executable (steam backup). So I wouldn't know how to reinstall it.... weird..
deanb
Delete the blob, see what happens.  Pretty much anything cocks up with Steam just delete this guy  And all should be well.

TheMightyEthan
What does delete the blob mean?
deanb
In the steam directory are a couple of .blob files. I'm unsure on the purpose, but if you delete them it tends to make Steam recreate them and in the process fix a fair chunk of errors Steam may be having. P4: Gritty Reboot
Alrighty so I just got to Chapter 2 at long last. I sided with the elves. Can someone explain like I'm five what exactly is going on in the story? I just picked the elves 'cause they looked cooler. My poor brain is having trouble keeping up...
