The Witcher

I can't wait to play this. Will make the PS4 purchase all the more worth it, alongside Dragon Age, Destiny, Watch Dogs, Infamous Second Son, and others.

Sure most of those have a version in multiple platforms and sure the PC version will be superior, but I don't own a PC that can handle heavy games like these.

Witcher 3 up for pre-order on GOG. If you pre-order if from them you get it DRM free (though they give everyone a DRM free copy anyway), warm feelings in your heart, access to a beta online board game, unspecific bonus content and if you've got the previous games on GOG (I bought one on disc and the other on steam but due to aforementioned "they give everyone the DRM free copy anyway", I'm a "loyal GOG customer") then you get a discount. In my case I get £11 off, which brings it down to £39, just shy of the normal console-game-at-launch price. Which is a fucking massive rip-off imo (even more so when it notes you're paying £10 more than US so they'll give you that in GOG money). So yeah if you're really into the beta for upcoming spin-off game and really really like owning things on GOG this might be for you. If not I'd strongly hold off and hope that no other retailer is honestly going to try charging £50 for this.

I'm really hoping thier little calculator thing is just bust and tomorrow it'll all be like "whoops, fucked the code!" and it'll go down to a nice PC-like £30. I got Witcher 2, sans and discount and with a bunch of physical goodies, and digital stuff, for £25 from GAME, who aren't the cheapest on the block. So £50 for a digital copy you've got to make a back-up of yourself and no physical goodies is a bit extreme.

I'm still looking forward to the game, but their pricing certainly pushes me miles away from going the GOG route.

Well Witcher 1 files passed on to Witcher 2, with several choices in tact, and that was between two different engines, so I imagine that they'll be doing the continuing file stuff with Witcher 2 on to Witcher 3. There was some relatively decent sized choices you had to make (to the point the middle of the game is pretty different between plays), and I imagine the ending choice with...err I forget his name but the other witcher, is probably pretty relevant given the empire advancing and the latest trailer showing you with a group of witchers.

Yeah I think it was due for now-ish, but got pushed back to February 2015. I think it's had a couple vague date moves, but the most recent moved it to a pretty solid day and month.

Heh, just gone digging into the dates, I forgot when it was announced it wouldn't launch in Poland on Xbox One (since changed). Got what a fucking stupid policy that was.

My recent upgrades fall somewhere in the middle but my GPU doesn't even meet the minimum lol. Not too surprising, I knew it wasn't likely to last me very long. AC Unity is similar, it runs but I'm a GPU upgrade short of it being decently playable. It's the next major upgrade I need to make, I'm just not sure when I'll be able to afford it.

Honestly, as long as I can run The Phantom Pain I'll be fine for now. Ideally, Arkham Knight too. But at least TPP is cross-gen and Ground Zeroes was crazy optimized so I should be good. Hopefully.

My card is a Radeon HD 6970, so it's only a single "gen" too old. In recent years I've learned not to take specs at face value, so I'll still torrent the game to give it a test run. If it's reasonably playable I'll probably just say fuck it and buy it anyway.

That's the situation I'm in on this one. I'm expecting to upgrade due to this and Evolve (which I already know I don't run well) but we'll see how the timing actually works out.
