Cyber Rat
I wonder if I could still run it despite being below minimum spec? I know I only had the RAM requirements covered when playing Dead Rising 2 and the game still worked without much trouble.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Ugh, I might have to upgrade soon. I'm slightly below minimum on processor and ram. Video card I match up (4830 w/ 1gb of RAM OC)
deanb
I hit everything except the GPU requirement for recommended.

If the game will be GPU heavy instead of CPU, as i expect it to be, you'll be fine.

AgamemnonV2
The game certainly has its faults, and the Prologue certainly doesn't paint a pretty picture with starting out with some bad voice acting, but it does get better. I thought it was interesting that this and Neverwinter Nights 2 were on sale on Steam. Both of these games use the Aurora engine and the on-the-ground dialogue lists. Couple this with The Witcher's dark tones, the Witcher group of heroes that are looked upon with distrust and who can "sense" monsters...and who become sterile and usually have a lower life expectancy due to drinking mutagens...ahem, right. Well, couple that with Neverwinter Nights 2, which is nothing like Neverwinter Nights 1 in the respect that you get three arbitrary party members that you cannot get rid of and who stick around with you. They also bicker amongst each other and you during specific quests. Essentially if Neverwinter Nights 2 and The Witcher had a child, it would be called Dragon Age: Origins. MasterDex
Gah! 4gb for Windows 7! I better get ordering that new RAM I've been talking about ordering for so long!

deanb
6GB DDR2 Mid-range (though depending on how quick I am, that can all change come Witcher 2's release)
Saturnine Tenshi
I'll certainly be getting The Witcher 2. The first was, by far, my favorite CRPG of this "generation". The sort with parasitic mandibles that take hold of my skull and force me to keep on going. I actually felt spellbound by the world of The Witcher. Despite lacking polish(ho ho ho) in many areas, it turned out much better than any of the humdrum, poorly written, ported misadventures created by CD Projekt Red's competitors in recent time. Eschalon and Drakensang deserve mention when talking about recent CRPGs, but I certainly wouldn't be putting 130 dollars into a CE for those games. Kovach_
Drakensang requires a lot of pen&paper system knowledge beforehand imho, and since my German is somewhere along the lines of "HALT JUDEN", i gave that one up. Witcher was fairly easy to get into, and i felt it was more about the story then hacking away at the hordes of drowners. Which is fine by me. Made me go look for the books later, they're pretty good. Saturnine Tenshi
Yeah, I'm waiting on the third translation. Blood of Elves and The Last Wish were both good reads.

MasterDex
Sounds promising so far...apart from the lack of graphics options. I wonder if they did this as a bit of a joke, it's a stretch but I mean, why wouldn't they add in proper graphical options? It's not like they're building the game on consoles, that version isn't even set in stone yet. I'm not too worried about the different choices not having an immediate effect, The Witcher was much the same in that regard. There's a link to a comparison of the low and high settings there: Link. Low doesn't look too bad, all things considered. This is a Day 1 buy for me anyway, loved The Witcher and I'm sure I'll love this.
Mercurial
The controls turned me off the first one and the leveling system.
Mr W Phallus
I just started the first game and I'm really enjoying it so far. Only in a video-game would you find sexual conquest and collectible trading cards combined into the ultimate form of female objectification. And I must say I kinda like it. Kovach_
The controls turned me off the first one and the leveling system. Why the leveling system? It was pretty simple and ok overall.Or is it the simple part that you didn't like? XD Edited April 14, 2011 by Kovach_

Faiblesse Des Sens
The controls turned me off the first one and the leveling system. Wait, what was wrong with the controls? You just clicked everything and it even had WASD if you wanted
Hot Heart
Some of the stuff in that RPS preview was a bit disconcerting, but I'm still looking forward to it. Combat sounds a little better and I'd even play it on easy just to get the 'experience' if I had to.

Everything sounds like an improvement even if it's still not the greatest.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
I just wish they would fix the first one so it would run well on my computer, which easily meets the recommended specifications.
Faiblesse Des Sens
What do you want a port for the new engine they created for The Witcher 2? That just doesn't seem worth it. Get a better computer!
Saturnine Tenshi
After watching the most recent developer diary covering gameplay, I was slightly aggrieved. If a game ostensibly — because we all know how aboveboard PR reps and marketing swine can be — is being developed with PC as a priority, why the fuck would you put in a wheel? There's nothing intuitive about weapon wheels when you don't have a limited control scheme. It's just used as a workaround for gamepads. I know the game does have gamepad support, and that's probably the justification. I just hope there is an alternative to the cursed torture wheel. Edit: Also, just tried to register my Witcher Enhanced Edition on Steam. No luck. >: Oh well, it was worth a try. Went out to pay off the CE for 2 today.
