TheMightyEthan
Amazon shipped it via UPS instead of the post office like they normally do for Prime, which means it won't be delivered until about 6 PM on whatever day it's delivered, so I'm going to be seriously disappointed if it's not delivered Thursday. If they'd shipped it via the post office like normal it would get here at like 10 AM, so Friday would be fine.
Saturnine Tenshi
Well, hopefully it arrives before the weekend hits at any rate.
TheMightyEthan
It'll arrive tomorrow, I'm just irritated how late in the day it will be.

Mal
Can a handful of musket-men defeat the horde of sword wielding, warmongering, maniacs? Let's find out in Kongo-India War 2. Yes, they started the first war.
Mr. GOH!
It's taking a long time for the AI turns to complete its turn even in the early game (1000 BC) on a large continents map. Is my laptop just weak, or have others noticed this, too?
TheMightyEthan
I haven't gotten to play it yet but from reviews/previews I read it sounded like the AI turns were faster than previous civs.
Mr. GOH!
Huh. It feels slower than Civ V, but I may be misremembering. They're not super-slow, jsut slow enough that I reach for my phone while they're calculating sometimes. Still, though, I am really enjoying the game and the changes seem to be good, so far. Saturnine Tenshi
It feels slower, yeah. I went straight from playing Civ5 days ago to Civ6, and there's a noticeable difference. Game is fun, though I'm having trouble figuring out what the hell to do. There's so much to queue in a city now.
Mr. GOH!
Civ VI feels like it has as many features as civ iv and civ v did after a couple of expansions. I like it, but if I hadn't watched hours of let's plays, I'd feel a bit lost. Edit: As is the case with every recent Civ game, the AI turns go much much more quickly if you turn on fast movement. Mal
How does the nuke work in VI? I built a thermonuclear warhead but I cannot find it to load it up or drop it on religious Japan right before their religious victory.
Saturnine Tenshi
You need to have something that can deploy it. Then it'll automatically be at that unit/improvement. No need to move it or anything. All of your eligible units/improvements will have access to it until you use it. England was mad at me for the entire game because she's a bitch. So near the end I took my cruisers to dominate her (way ahead of everyone else in tech). Decided a nuke would be nice. Somewhere in the process one of my longtime allies turned against me. So she got the nuke, too: Edit: Just finished my first game, too. Science victory as Japan. Love it. Mal
I had a bomber that could use nukes and yet I didn't see it. Anyhow, next time I'll murder the religious zealots before they can get a religious victory. I easily could've won.
Saturnine Tenshi
Weird. Maybe it was some tech I had? I just crafted the things and they were available everywhere. Those religious wars, though. Rome and France would battle something fierce in my territory, and I always thought the lightning was war going on at first. TheMightyEthan
I'm sure I'd love the game if I could get past this screen: Been sitting here almost 10 minutes. It worked fine Friday, loaded in less than a minute, but now it just sticks here. I haven't changed drivers or anything.
Mal
The newest driver (today's) that I got from Nvidia 's website did that to me. The previous one that I got from the Nvidia Experience on Saturday night had me freeze and crash after some turns. They both said they were for Civ VI. And yes they are different driver versions. I had to roll back to the Oct. 6th driver to get pass that screen and so far no freeze or crashes. This one was the one before it said anything about being optimized for Civ VI. TheMightyEthan
The October 5 driver is the one I'm on. It's the one I was on Friday when it worked, and the one I was on today when it didn't.
Mal
Weird. 373.06 (Oct. 5th-6th) allows me to play but it will eventually crash like so While very similar to problems with RAM, I don't get a BSOD that I get with RAM issues. In this case, my computer just restarts. 375.63 (Oct. 23th) gives me your problem. I also swear that Nvidia Experience gives out one for Oct. 19th... at this point, something is fucky. I may try 372.90 (Sept. 21st) to see if it helps with my crashes or just run with 373.06 and run a hardware monitor to see any thing strange. The only problem is that I have to check and any crashes will not generate a report...
Saturnine Tenshi
What cards do you have? I'm running 375.57 on a 970. There's an update, but I haven't bothered installing it yet.
Mal
980ti. I managed to play without crashing tonight with 373.06. According to Hardware Monitor, my temperatures are fine. Everything was about 70°C-80°C with the 980ti going the highest at 81°C. So I shouldn't be overheating. Maybe some game process together with the drivers is taking out my computer and getting people stuck in the loading screen. Anyhow, with a new game I made good on my promise of murdering the person with the highest religion before they can win the game. It just involved a pretty damn landlocked Aztec that was broken through by geopolitical version of Hannibal crossing the Alps with elephants. It almost fell apart when the geopolitical hole was closed* and by some underclassed armies. Tank army with a general saved the day which led to a captured city and upgraded infantry armies with siege towers**. Swept up the other seven cities after. *A lot of mountains, water with a shifted City-State that allowed me to enter through one side of a hex... Thankfully it kicked me into Japan whom I had open borders with and who also borders the Aztec. **Somehow siege towers still work in the age of tanks and infantry. TheMightyEthan
Supposedly if you have the stuck-at-the-leader-load-screen issue I'm having you can "fix" it by performing a full restart of your computer every time before you launch the game. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
TheMightyEthan
Solved it! The problem is Windows Defender real-time protection, so if you go into Windows Defender settings and add the Civ VI folder as an exclusion then it loads just fine.

Mr. GOH!
National Parks shouldn't have such ridiculous restrictions on size and shape. Also, I didn't realize until very late game that building a long string of cities is much less efficient than a cluster that all get each other's district bonuses. Still a great game, though.
