Hot Heart
Put in a relatively low bid for a brand new, sealed copy of this... and I actually won. I can only guess that the other bidder was otherwise occupied? ANYWAY, yeah, this. It's set in Fantasy Flight's "Android" universe (very similar to Blade Runner) which began with Android and includes such games as Netrunner and Infiltration. This time it's a sort of semi co-op negotiation game with shades of Battlestar Galactica, Dead of Winter and Archipelago. The basic summary is in the image above but, essentially, players take on the roles of capitalist pigs... umm, mega corporations who each have a hidden victory condition dealt from a deck, which is either beating another rival's total capital value (or getting above 25 if you draw your own) or they are the "traitor" role, which is a Federalist mole who wants to sow unrest and end the game that way as long as they're above 25 capital. Players submit and vote on different agendas for managing the city's production which can see unrest from workers, protesters, mafioso and general outages while trying to meet that round's crisis requirement. During this process there are also assets up for grabs which trigger off other effects but are generally QUITE GOOD so people can make all sorts of deals to get their way, whether it's bribes, threats or promises. On top of that there are Investments which encourage you to worsen the board state in some way in order to make extra money (spread disease or riots, etc.), which makes the traitor's work a little easier but just generally creates tension between the competing agendas. It's all cynically dystopian. I'm not sure if my group are 100% onboard with negotiation games but Sheriff of Nottingham fares okay and I think having a stronger mechanical structure behind a "semi co-op" helps it. TheMightyEthan
After playing Death of the Outsider I decided to do a second playthrough of Dishonored 2, but a couple levels in I realized I wanted to play something I hadn't played before. On a whim I checked Prey on CDkeys and lo and behold it's on there for $18.69, the lowest price I've seen it at.
TheMightyEthan
Doom 2016 was $12 on DLGamer, so I bought it.

Mister Jack
That's out? I thought that wasn't coming until 2018. Geez, Nintendo really must have learned their lesson from the Wii U launch.
Mal
December 1st. The Switch was off to a slow start, you can argue it is still slow, but it is picking up steam.
CorgiShinobi
You know, with Sonic Forces having been out and the collective consensus being a resounding eh, I was itching for playing a Sonic game. So I ordered Sonic Colors off Amazon for $18 and it's pretty good. Only problem is it's a Wii title that's upscaled to 1080p on the Wii U. toxicitizen
Total impulse purchase. I've wanted to play it since launch but I kind of expect Nioh to keep me busy until Okami in December. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze it in between the two. 1
Hot Heart
It's fairly cheap and sounds p cool and looks pretty. It's essentially a take on the Carcassonne genre of "tile-laying". We have Kodama already, which involves using cards to build lovely trees but this should be less swingy in the scores. In Kodama, there are score-multiplier cards you play at the end of each of the three rounds, which vary wildly in how and for what factors they score. They do require some "medium to long-term" planning but a lot can depend on what you're dealt. For example, one player might get a couple that max out at 12 points (usually involving one of each symbol) while another player could get a couple of cards that can easily score 20+ points with minimal or even less diverse planning. Anyway, I think it should be a nice relaxing but still puzzley game of the type the group will enjoy.

TheFlyingGerbil
Not sure what timeline this is but it looks like it's been hard on Link. I jest, of course. I bought Skyrim for Switch. I had an offer to get a game half price so went in to get AC: Origins, but then I worried my parents may get it for me for Christmas so I thought I'd get Splatoon 2, but they didn't have that so I got this instead. Unlike most people though, I've never played it before, so I'm not double/triple dipping.

Mister Jack
Been a while since I really splurged on a steam sale. Shadow of War actually came from CDkeys because it's not only cheaper even during the steam sale, but it also comes with DLC that the basic steam version doesn't.
CorgiShinobi
@Mal Hey, I'm happy too that you've got Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice! Just make sure you play with headphones on for the best experience. Finally, Nier: Automata went on sale for Black Friday. That's the only game I'm picking up this year. I also got a new controller, so that took the place of another game.
toxicitizen
I've been eagerly awaiting the day my old Dell keyboard breaks so I can justify upgrading to a mechanical one. That day still hasn't come but Black Friday has and with it a deal on this Logitech keyboard I've been keeping an eye on just in case. Amazon Canada doesn't usually have great Black Friday deals in my experience but they actually slashed 100 bucks off of this one. Way too good of a deal to pass on. Should go nicely with the Logitech mouse I bought earlier this year. At this point the only upgrade left my PC truly needs is a SSD.
Mister Jack
Okay one more. It was only six bucks. I definitely got my fill on fighting games with this sale.
toxicitizen
With the Deadpool game having recently been delisted once again, I figured I probably should grab MvC3 while I still can. You never know with these fucking licensed games and there's something about Marvel specifically that seems to make them prone to sudden disappearance. The RE7 season pass finally hit something closer to a sane price over on GamersGate and with the last of the DLC coming in a few weeks I figured I might as well. Also grabbed some dirt cheap DLC not worth posting pics for, including the Mankind Divided season pass because I hate myself. toxicitizen
The pre-order discount on GamersGate seemed about as good as it was going to get so I went for it. Oh and this was like 5 bucks on chrono.gg a few days ago. I expect now that I finally pulled the trigger it'll be bundled any day now... Hot Heart
7 Wonders is 7! So they released some mini-expansions of 15 cards each. Some cool new Leaders and City options.
TheFlyingGerbil
Wasn't planning on buying it (yet) as I still haven't played the first one but Argos had it at £29.99 so I couldn't pass that up.
toxicitizen
After spending the last few days back in Atelier Sophie, I was in the mood for more anime JRPG bullshit. Since Gust's other games are still a bit too pricy, I grabbed this one. Only played an hour or so and so far my main takeaway is that 2 hours is way too short for the refund window. I loved everything about it except the gameplay, which wasn't as good as I expected. I feel like it could grow on me, though. And like I said, I love pretty much everything else about it. So the story, music, characters, etc, could likely carry the game. I feel like I'd need something like ~5 hours or so with it to really know for sure. :/
Mr. GOH!
I bought a bunch of games recently because I have no self-control and the looming arrival of my son makes me want to get ina s much gaming as possible before March. First Up: You run a town dominated by a cult. Every season you pick six advisors, one of whom you must sacrifice to your evil god at the end of the season. Very atmospheric light management game. I liked the old PS1 Star Ocean and I felt like trying a last-gen JRPG. I liked Stick of Truth alright and thought I might as well try the sequel. It's Batman. It's Telltale. I always was gonna buy this.
Baconrath
for PS4 So far the english dub is kinda...bad (I've heard some comparisons to Chaos Wars) and the story isn't anything special since it's but I kinda like it so far.
