Achievement/Trophy Thread

Just beat Resident Evil 7 in 2 hours and 35 minutes, myself.

Lol, it was obvious it could go much faster on a replay like the older games but damn. Were you actually trying to rush it or just going for the 4h thing? I was gonna wait but now I kinda feel like starting a new run right away lol.

I was going for the 4 hour thing.  As long as you know exactly where to go and you don't backtrack too much, there's a generous amount of room for error.  Pausing the game also stops the timer so you can take a moment to get your bearings.

I also wanted to unlock the x-ray glasses and the circular saw.

There's no difficulty requirement for the trophy so obviously you'll want to do it on easy.

Aaaand done.

Of course, no platinum on Steam means that this will be short-lived. As soon as they add the DLC achievements, I'll lose that 100%. :(

But still, not bad overall, even after the inevitable -1.

Is it still possible to fake Steam achievements? I guess by modding the game?

You don't even need to go that far, you can just interact directly with the Steamworks API without actually launching any game.

There's a program specifically for it but I never used it. I kinda want to sometimes to reset some games (for example, most of XSEED's releases of older Falcom games have glitchy achievements at launch) but I could never get a clear answer on whether or not it's considered ban-worthy, so I don't want to risk it.

Got the platinum for Nioh.  I'm particularly proud of this one because some of these trophies were just brutal.  The majority mostly just required dedication, like mastering all the weapon types, but you also have to beat every mission in the game.  That doesn't sound so bad, but some of the optional side missions are just completely unfair, including missions where enemies are 100 levels above you and missions where you have to fight multiple of the game's hardest bosses at the same time.  Considering that this game is trying to be like Dark Souls, you can probably imagine that this was one absolute motherfucker of a task to accomplish.  But I did it.  I can finally move on to Horizon now.

Turns out Infinite Climax mode is actually easier than hard. Either that or I seriously leveled up during my hard playthrough, because every single chapter I expected to have trouble with was mostly fine. I did use the Evil Harvest Rosary since witch time was disabled anyway but I didn't find it incredibly useful. At least, not as useful as witch time. The only thing that really made me rage was doing all the Alfheim portals. Some of them are just fucking brutal, and I did them on normal.

Pretty sure that's my first proper Platinum game fully completed, too. I mean, technically second but Nier: Automata doesn't count since it's not a "real" Platinum game. Anyway, I sure wish I had some way of playing Bayonetta 2 right about now. I know a PC port of that one is incredibly unlikely but damn it, buy it from Nintendo or something, Sega. :(

Holy shit! I DID IT! I fucking did it!

When I first SS'd every single one of the regular levels like two years ago, I tried the one secret level also required for the single achievement the game has and pretty much gave up immediately. It just felt straight up impossible. I couldn't even beat it with checkpoints on. Well, I randomly felt like firing up the game a couple days ago and, after a lot of practice, this happened today

The game is actually super fun, so not really. :P It came back to me pretty quickly, so despite the long break I already had the skills to clear like half the level. It was just a few specific sections that I had to focus on. Mainly that zig-zag drop near the end and those three pillars you need to dash between at the very end. I still haven't mastered those, that was legit the first time I ever managed to clear them on my first try. I'd normally get stuck there for a few minutes. You'll notice there's a moment of hesitation at the very end. That was purely out of disbelief that I had made it that far without fucking up lol. I was making good progress but I honestly expected to spend at least another day or two on it before I could pull it off.

Hahaha, well the game is way too good for me to stop playing, so I'll definitely be trying to improve my times. But the speed, control and precision on display in the replays at the top of the leaderboards is on a level I can't even imagine. Mine look goddamn sloppy by comparison, even on the easiest levels.

I FINALLY DID IT.  250 hours and three playthroughs later, I finally got the Persona 5 platinum.  I don't know if I've ever put this much work into getting one. Technically it should have been possible in two playthroughs, but I fucked up in the second one and ended up having to do a third to get those last few I missed. Persona is a game that does not give you many chances to go back and fix your mistakes if you do something wrong, but I did it.  I can finally move on, but unless someone releases a game in 2017 that blows you while you play it, this will absolutely be my game of the year.

Something else I noticed is that fewer than 1% of players have the platinum.  Even for a completionist trophy, that seems pretty damn rare.

Got the last two SLinks on the very last possible day.

@Mister JackWhich trophies were giving you trouble for the plat? I already got the one for hearing 250 navigation lines, which was the one that I thought was most likely to give me trouble (#1 Rise Fan is the only reason I don't have the P4G plat).

Mishima's stupid ass stopped giving me requests because I forgot to check my messages a few times, so I couldn't finish his link. This also kept me from reading all the books because some of them are rewards. I also waited too long to fight the superboss, though this one was kind of on purpose since I already knew I'd have to do it again anyway so I figured I might as well use the extra time to put together stronger Personas for the fight.

I do not recommend attempting this. The game is alright on a first playthrough but getting all the achievements requires 3 in total and holy fuck, man. NG+ isn't too bad and you can rush through it in like 6 hours but the last few hours of NG++ soured me on the entire thing. When the game gets really hard you start to realize how truly fucked up it actually is mechanically. I used a glitch for the final boss on NG++ and I don't even feel bad about it. Also, the DLC is required for 10 of the achievements and it's pretty bad.
