Achievement/Trophy Thread

Honestly, if you no-life the game you could probably get it in a couple of weeks, but I wasn't that devoted.  I needed to take breaks from it whenever I got burnt out.  None of the trophies are especially difficult, but the platinum does require all of the following:

Six max level characters

One max level hardcore character, which means no dying allowed

500 bounties completed

Max level legendary items in every equipment slot

100 treasure goblins

It takes a while to do all of that.  Funny thing is that I am pretty sure I also own the PC version of the game on my Battle.net account that's currently gathering dust, but I never bothered going back to it since the console version of Diablo 3 is objectively superior.  It feels weird to say that.

Knocked out the platinum for Castlevania Requiem, which is Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night combined.  It's not a super hard platinum, honestly, aside from getting through a whole level in Rondo without taking a single hit and getting 200.6% completion in Symphony, but Symphony is one of, if not my number one favorite game of all time.  I've beaten it three times this year alone, but I like finally having a trophy list for it.

I mentioned elsewhere that I've been replaying the Kingdom Hearts collection on the PS4. I beat all the games on both discs so I decided to go back to do the side content and I have now officially beaten all of the superbosses in both KH1 and KH2 Final Mix! That's Ice Titan, Phantom, Kurt Zisa, The Unknown, Sepihiroth (twice!), The Lingering Will, and all 13 super buffed out rematch versions of the Organization XIII members. These are some of the hardest bosses Square Enix has ever made, and possibly some of the hardest bosses in all of gaming (especially Lingering Will) so I feel particularly accomplished with this one. Just to show I'm not exaggerating, here's just one of the Org XIII fights. It's not my footage, sadly, since I wasn't recording, but it gives you an idea of what you're up against.

And now I've officially beaten all the superbosses from Birth by Sleep and Julius from Dream Drop Distance. Unfortunately, these guys were hard for the wrong reasons. They can't be hitstunned into a combo at any point, so hitting them with melee attacks is pretty much never going to be safe. The BBS bosses also attack constantly, which means the only reliable way to beat them is to abuse the invincibility frames you get while dodging and find very brief windows to fire off either physical skills with more invincibility frames or trap spells for them to run into. But hey, now I've beaten every superboss in the series, including the one in KH3 that I did a while back. I hope the DLC for that game adds more boss fights because it's a series staple at this point.

Got the Bloodborne platinum. This one is admittedly easier to get than the Dark Souls achievements because you don't have to do as much grinding and about 75% of them are just for beating all the bosses, but you do need to collect all the weapons and tools in the game as well as find a few extremely rare items. Getting the last trophy was uniquely difficult because it was for beating a certain boss, but the boss itself is actually pretty easy. The hard part is getting to her in the first place, because to even get the chance to fight her you have to work your way through several optional endgame dungeons. Not only do you need to farm specific materials to even gain access to these dungeons, but once you're inside the game really stops going easy on you. Several of the bosses you have to fight on the way to the actual boss you need for the trophy are way harder than she is. As if that wasn't enough, one of the dungeons has an absolutely sadistic modifier where your maximum HP is chopped in half and you have to fight three bosses with this handicap. After managing to do that, actually killing the game's true final boss at the very very end was a cakewalk by comparison.

Well I can check the Persona 5 Royal platinum off of the list now. This one was actually easier to get than the vanilla version's platinum. You don't even have to beat the twins or complete the persona compendium, although you do have to beat the Reaper. It gives me the impression that they made the trophies specifically for people who already did everything in the last version and wouldn't feel like doing it a second time.

Well, Nioh 2 is officially platinumed. It didn't take as long as I thought it would since New Game+ difficulty is much more generous with handing out skill points for your weapons. I had already mastered the katana and odachi during my normal playthrough and going through again on NG+ I was able to master two weapon types per day. I'm done for now, but I'm looking forward to the DLC.

↑ actual location of where I picked up my last memory chip. It was perfect, there was a song that started playing and everything. Kojima knew!

On a more serious note, I guess preppers aren't just fucking idiots in real life. They're annoying as shit in this game, too! Getting these motherfuckers to join the UCA and then get five stars with them was the grindiest part of this by far.

Also, I'm really not sure what happened here because I played through the entire story without any issues but at some point the game decided to shit itself and in the post-game I started constantly running into freezes with a "Now loading..." message. Sometimes I swear I couldn't go five fucking meters without getting another one, it was maddening! It was clearly a data streaming issue because it only happened when I was ziplining or driving, like I was moving too fast for the game to keep up. It's weird because I never experienced anything like it during the story and I have a feeling maybe something in the game's data started degrading or something because I also started getting crashes every now and then.

Couldn't stop, too many deliveries to make!

edit: Oh and while I'm here

I was hoping this would keep me busy a little longer while I wait for Control's Steam launch but I just burned through it in two days. I already had a bunch of powers unlocked from my first playthrough, though, so that probably made it a bit easier despite this playthrough being on hard.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to replay Alan Wake too... ?

Wrapping up Witcher 3 just one achievement short of full completion was too annoying, I had to get my fix somewhere else!

Also, freeing up that much space when I uninstalled it felt pretty good. So getting to uninstall these two as well served as extra motivation.

Shadow of War platinum achieved. Kind of funny how I only went back to this game because Cyberpunk was a total bust and I needed to play something while waiting for the patch. Pretty cool game, though. Not the hardest platinum out there but you have to dedicate a decent amount of time to building up your armies.

Got the platinum for Trover Saves the Universe, but this is definitely a game that does not respect you for doing so because several of the trophies mock you for wasting time to get them.

Spoiler

Also the reward for getting all the collectibles is that Trover offers to turn the DS4 vibration up to maximum to help you masturbate.

Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is officially platinumed. I ran into a bad glitch that required replaying the game to get every crafting recipe because one I needed had disappeared, but it gave me a chance to go for a different ending and the second playthrough was much faster so it wasn't the end of the world. What an amazing VR experience this was. I might try the new horde mode sometime, but for now I'm moving on to Star Wars: Squadrons.
