MetalCaveman
Yeah, I'm up for that, during launch I helped a friend get the friends ring lol, kinda wish I had asked him to help me too back then, but I didn't think it'd be that annoying to get. I'm in central time, moving the clocks forward this weekend lol.
Mister Jack
I'm willing to help out, quid pro quo, but first I need to get myself to a viable level to even do NG+. This is waaaay harder than the NG+ in any other Souls game and everything is killing me in one or two hits. Apparently I'm forty freaking levels behind what people recommend. On the plus side, at least my white tendencies are saved so I might be able to get that ally ring sooner rather than later.
MetalCaveman
\m/ \m/ Went through it three times, could've done it in two runs, but for role-playing purposes I wanted to get a certain ending on my first playthrough and make that the canon one for my character, NG+ for the ending that locks you out of the other ones, and NG++ for the vanilla ending.
Mister Jack
Got the Demon's Souls platinum. It wasn't as much of a grind as DS3 but it still confirmed to me that Demon's Souls is tied with DS2 as my least favorite From game. World tendency is such a frustrating, inconvenient mechanic to deal with and character tendency even more so. There are certain items you HAVE to get that are only available at white tendency and the ONLY way to get white tendency is by killing invaders, which means once again I had to rely on a Discord server. Thankfully there was a guy in there who was super helpful at getting my tendency where it needed to be in a matter of minutes when it probably would have taken many hours otherwise. What a bro. Even then, this platinum was painful to get because NG+ in Demon's Souls is waaaay harder than in any other From game. Usually even with powered up enemies you can curbstomp the first few sections of the game until they start to catch up to you a bit, but in this one the very first enemies in the game can kill you in one or two hits and it only gets worse from there. The difficulty spikes up so dramatically that I briefly considered just giving up on the platinum entirely, but I persevered. I did, however, resort to using cheap methods to kill the bosses because of this game's other major problem, that being a severe lack of shortcuts. I fucking hate running through an entire level again just to get another shot at the boss, and I really wish Bluepoint had added more shortcuts as a QoL update to the remake even if it wouldn't be completely faithful to the original. After having to replay the same level over and over I didn't feel bad at all about resorting to poisoning most of the bosses and letting them die on their own because I damn sure wasn't going to run through it all again. I'm willing to help out with anyone else who is going for the platinum but I don't know if I'm going to play this again just for the sake of it. Elden Ring may make Dark Souls look dated but it just completely shits all over Demon's Souls. MetalCaveman
Honestly, the ring trophy is the only one I'd need help with, thanks to the ever so annoying character tendency, however, I'm not sure I want to go for it. Played for a bit today, trying to get some of the other trophies I'm missing (spells, miracles and one of the endings) and honestly, the differences between DSR and Elden Ring are so big that I think Demon's Souls is better off in that category of "I remember it being fun". Demon's Souls did not age well, even compared to the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring just wiped the floor with it. The original Demon's Souls will keep its place as one of my favourite games, and so I think I'd rather just leave it as is, rather than force myself to go through with it. One thing I did like and wish Elden Ring had (iirc it's supposed to be coming "soon") is the usage of the PS5's controller, both haptics and the speaker, they really do make things better, but that's the only thing I'd bring over from DS to ER. Mister Jack
Got the Final Fantasy Origin platinum. Not too much grinding for this one aside from getting one of your jobs to level 99, which will take a while on your own but if you're willing to help out other players on chaos difficulty it gives you a lot of exp crystals as a reward so I managed it in a few hours. I'm probably done with this game for a while. Maybe if the DLC is good I'll jump back in but I'm ready to move on for the time being.
Thursday Next
That was good. Going to wait to start Elden Ring and GT7 until the new TV arrives on Friday. I like that the trophies respect your time, e.g. you only have to play a couple of Machine Strike matches, and clear like 4 enemy camps and stuff rather than "find every x". The only "every" thing you have to do is scan all machines, but that's something that I think almost everyone will do.

Yeah, and even that one doesn't require you to scan every variant, just every "type".
Thursday Next
That's a very good point! I wish more games used this trophy philosophy tbh. I think trophies are at their best when they encourage you to try everything, rather than complete everything. But maybe that's just me being a big "participation award" millennial?
TheMightyEthan
I agree 100%, and that certainly seems to be the philosophy among Sony's first party studios at least. Only Naughty Dog seems to have missed the memo.
TheMightyEthan
I can't believe I forgot to post this till now! Such a great game, and one of my proudest hundos, up there with Returnal and Elden Ring. 1
toxicitizen
As far as I can tell, the ending doesn't change if you transferred 100% of the spirits. You just unlock some new prayer beads. Which is cool, I guess, but kinda useless since I'm not going to be doing another playthrough lol. At least not anytime soon. Only took me a few extra hours to get everything I was missing, though, so I don't mind. It's been a while since I 100%'d an open-world game. Mister Jack
This is the third time I've completed this game on three different platforms. No save transfer on the PC either. I'm obsessed with this game.

Mister Jack
On steam at least it had me at 110 hours by the time I hit 100%. The most time consuming achievement has to be finishing a certain gauntlet mission on the NG++ difficulty, but I sped up that one by playing through it in expedition mode, which buffs up the enemies and increases their number but also lets you go through missions with a party of 3 without needing any cups to summon. toxicitizen
Holy shit, I... I did it. It's not a platinum/100% yet but this is definitely the hardest achievement I've ever earned. It was my goal to get it before Street Fighter 6 in June but I honestly never expected to actually pull it off. I can never play ranked again lmao.
MetalCaveman
RE4 HD complete! \m/ \m/ Professional difficulty was a pain, but being able to bring Ashley's armour helped a ton, kinda tempted to do another run on normal, with the Chicago Typewriter, just to have my revenge lol.

I still need to do a professional run of this version to get the last achievement. How bad was it? Professional difficulty in RE5 had times when I wanted to fucking scream lol. The Spoiler castle water room made me hate this game and myself for playing it lol, the island had some seriously annoying parts, and the Spoiler novistador cave was also a huge pain, but that IMO is mostly on me, panicking and not being able to aim properly lol, those are IMO the parts most likely to make you want to set this game on fire, and some of the bosses, funnily enough, Del Lago was the easiest boss, normally I struggle a fair bit in that fight, this time, it was the highlight in terms of how easy it was compared to everything else. If you can save some flash grenades for certain late game areas you might not have as many issues as I did, also, make sure you master the stun->kick->knife combo, that'll save you a ton of ammo, at least until the Plagas start popping up, then you better hope you have some flash grenades. MetalCaveman
HELL YEAH!!!! Turns out getting all rings offline wasn't that hard with a new character and proper planning on which areas to get to PBWT first, which to save for later and which to use Ephemeral Eyes on. Hardest part was the farming needed for two of the rings lol.
toxicitizen
This isn't the first fighting game I 100%/Platinum but it's the first one I've done completely legit (actually this isn't true, I just remembered I did Tekken 7 last year but that one was quick and easy), and holy fuck was it the hardest one by far. I mean, there's really no way to boost this one. You need to make it to Gold League in ranked. No choice but to git gud. Shit, this is probably the hardest game I've ever completed. Dustforce was hard as fuck but it was still just a single-player game all about execution. In Street Fighter V, other people stand in your way. And some of these people are really fucking good. It's not enough to practice, you need to actually learn how to play fighting games. And I'm really glad I finally did because it's something I'd been wanting to do for over a decade and it made them go from something that looks cool but didn't feel like it was for me to now being one of my favorite game genres. Not that long ago, sinking almost 300 hours in a purely competitive multiplayer game was unthinkable for me. I lose interest way before that. Best case scenario, after like 20-30 hours I start feeling like I've seen everything the game has to offer and I move on. But this fucking game got its hooks into me like no other game ever has. I just can't get enough of it! I've literally seen everything the game has to offer 10 times over by now yet I feel like I've only just scratched the surface. Anyway, I made it to Gold a little over a month ago. So why am I only now posting my 100%? Because this achievement list requires you to earn 1 million fight money and Capcom, in their great wisdom, basically nerfed every single way to earn FM. So going through some characters' story modes and doing some tutorials and combo trials early on and playing about 250h of ranked got me a little over halfway there. I then went through all the story modes for the remaining characters and watched some character specific demonstrations and that was good for another nice little boost. Then the only viable way to get the remaining ~350K was to play survival mode. Survival mode kinda sucks! This was such a tedious fucking grind. Making it to Gold took way longer but at least that was fun. This was so time consuming that at some point I started listening to the Always Sunny Podcast while I was grinding survival runs and I made it to episode 30 before I was even done! But anyway, I'm done now. I can rest. Until the next fight.* *and by that I mean Street Fighter 6 Edited April 22, 2023 by toxicitizen
Mister Jack
Got the Final Fantasy XVI platinum. It's not too grindy or difficult. The hardest trophy is finishing the game on hard mode, which requires a second playthrough, but if you're any good at character action games then it's perfectly doable.
toxicitizen
I was hoping to get this done before MK1's release, and, well, mission accomplished! The achievement list was mostly easy but there's a few really grindy ones. If I'd started playing the game earlier, the one for completing 250 towers would've been a fairly reasonable ask. I would've done it over the course of several months and it would've been fine. But I had like 3 weeks to 100% the game lol. I did about 100 legitimately over the course of just playing the game and doing all the other achievements and did the rest the lazy way. I opened Twitch on my second monitor and just went into Endless tower, started the first fight and immediately went into the menu and selected "Finish Tower". So it was like an hour of mindless button mashing while barely looking at the screen lol. That this worked at all just goes to show how pointless of an achievement this was. It used to be I hated it when fighting games had achievements like "win 200 online matches" because they seemed impossible to get. But now I'm disappointed when they don't have those. Online is where most of my time is spent and I understand now that as long as you just keep playing you'll get there eventually. The only problem is when you play the game after the online is dead. I'd love to try and 100% MK9 and MKX but that's basically impossible at this point. Anyway, getting back into MK was such a blast. This series is super nostalgic for me in a way that Street Fighter simply isn't. I really wish I had done this years ago. This was so much fun. Can't wait for MK1 next week!
Mister Jack
Finally got 100% in Lies of P, and of course I did this right before they put out a big patch which makes the game easier. I'm not saying this to brag about getting it while the game was still ridiculously hard. I'm annoyed because god I should have waited.
