We know from the opening scene of 3rd that the titular sister is based on that woman from the church that Kevin answers to. What you might not have picked up on is that (and this is from CSI), the actual book was written by Micht, the pawn shop dude from Trista, and the main character in it is based on Toval. Going off that and his comment in Ymir about praying to "his other goddess", I'm getting the impression that Toval thinks she's dead like the end of the book suggests lol. Regarding the 3rd spoiler: Reveal hidden contents The Salt Pale is still mysterious but it should be cleared up in the next arc. The Salt Pale (and maybe other things) caused a refugee crisis that is rocking Calvard hard. One of the refugee happened to be the late Weissmann who got struck down by the very thing he sought to escape by stone-cold Father Kevin Graham. Regarding Toval Reveal hidden contents Yeah, it was explicit in CSI. In Sister Carnelia story, Micht died early in the book but in reality he's fine. I think he used his own name too so it was weird that I never made the connection. While I didn't do his bonding event that has Toval praying, I also got the impression that he knew she was fine and alive back in CSI. Another big thing that overshadowed Rufus is what Osborne is trying to do and just did: Challenging Ouroboros. I lost double my shit with this one. I spent the entire game being mildly disappointed by the story and thinking how much I wanted Crossbell way more than Cold Steel III but now I'm not so sure anymore... Reveal hidden contents I did have a feeling Osborne was still alive but everything else was a complete surprise. I'm not sure how "taking over" Ouroboros' plan even works, though. Surely that's not something you can just do? I dunno, between that and all the name drops during the Crossbell intermission, I'm really getting the sense that I'm not seeing the whole picture here. Also ffs, will this game ever end?! I was expecting to finish it earlier this evening but it just keeps on going and going an ugh... However, as you said, you kind of had the feeling he was alive. The big bad that was always mentioned since at least TitS:SC was just shot dead? He also mentioned Crow's surname so I have a feeling there is some unexplored deeper beef between Crow's grandfather and Osborne. There got to be more to why Crow is the Azure Awakener. Same deal with Rean being the Ashen Awakener. Anyways, I digress. Osborne had too many things weird going on to just up and die. Hell, him being alive is weird enough. I do believe it was really him who was shot (again, he mentioned Crow right after he was shot). Just how he was revived is up in the air though. Probably going to have a hint in CSIII with regards to the other Zephyr members' activities to revive their boss who for sure died since Sara witnessed it. Speaking of Sara, it is mighty interesting that she was part of the Northern Jaegers. That, if I recall correctly, is the one that bombed and attacked all of Erebonia's Bracer guide branches to the point that Cassius got involved and I believe brought home Joshua. The year that she quit kind of matches the time that that happened. At the very least, Sara's departure from the Northern Jaegers and joining the Bracer Guide is a few years after the Bracer bombings. I wondered what happened... Also interesting Sara's from North Ambria where the whole Salt Pale thing happened 30 odd years back. Ah man. I love the lore and how this game expands on it. I need the Crossbell games to expand on it some more since we are missing a bunch of info and context. As for the quests, the fishing one was cute (it's so fun to see Annabelle's journey throughout the games) and the one with Patrick was good. Or good in theory because it was piss poor easy due to how broken the game is. I one shot Patrick group, Vincent and Ferris' group and took down more than half health of the Principal and Beatrix with just Laura's S-Break. Mop up was easy enough. I'm actually kind of curious on what kind of moves they can pull... I want to speculate some more about Reveal hidden contents Rean and the Arnor family and hell, maybe the Lance Maiden. but I should finish the game first, for real. It should clear up some stuff. Reveal hidden contents McBurn and Duvalie were never really developed or explained (although Duvalie might've been in Crossbell) and neither were those two from the army, LeGuin and, uh... Not Gaius. Hell, the entire game you're left wondering wtf is going on in Western Erebonia, where it seems like the real war was going on and a bunch of kids sure as shit couldn't have turned the tide because even Olivert and Arseid had their hands full. I can kinda see why people assumed ahead of time that there would be a Sen III, but if I had played II before knowing it officially I would've been equal parts confused and annoyed. This has not been as neat of a wrap-up as SC was. But hey, sounds like I still got more to go so it's too early to get into all this, I guess! It kinda feels like an optional dungeon with the warning that the layout changes and enemies are stronger. Weird way to cap off the story but I'm not complaining. I was annoyed last night but doing those side-quests actually made me glad the game isn't quite over yet. I'm down for a little bit more! This is the 3rd all over again, though. So many party members to choose from that I can't use even half the people I'd like to bring with me! Especially since Laura and Fie are way too useful not to bring everytime. I swear, my party's been Rean, Sara, Laura and Fie for like 90% of the game lol. edit: Game complete, epilogue and all. Man, that last dungeon was... not the best. Kinda felt like padding, really. Reveal hidden contents For how pointless it ultimately ended up being, that dungeon was kinda boring and that boss sure was a load of serious trash. This might be the most bullshit boss fight in the entire series. I can deal with powerful attacks but that fucker has so much HP and summons allies, so I'd always end up unable to keep my entire party healed/alive and unable to restore my combat links. I was so fucking livid I used "retry and weaken"until I was able to just brute force my way through it with S-Crafts and a little bit of luck. No regrets, you can fuck right off Loa Luciferia! Looking forward to cheesing the shit out of you again when I get around to my Nightmare run! You piece of shit! There might be some more points from completing the last dungeon but it is REALLY tight this time if want the A0 item for the last dungeon. I only didn't manage to get S+ rank for the first two chapters due to 1) You having to run all the way back to town for an optional quest and 2) getting bosses HP down low enough. I have to say though, the last (?) optional quest is really cute. It's the one and only from Liberl. Now to setup my party. I'm going ham and benching my A-team and B-team. I want a challenge. In CSII, I read about the, uh... peculiar way the game rolls for AT Delays and decided to give everyone quartz(es?) for it. You have no fucking idea how many battles I just spent wailing on the enemies non-stop with them getting only a single turn in, if even that lol. They just wanted to have some harmless fun before their students left but little did they know, their beloved students were complete sociopath all too eager to savagely beat up defenseless elderly people. And Rean might as well have cheats on with the way he generates CP. His starting master quartz + some gladiator gear = unleash his S-Craft and the kills almost fill him all the way back to 100 lol. What the shit? Part of me don't believe him but considering just how phoned in the dungeon was, I guess it is true? Also how did we go from this theme for the last dungeon: to whatever was in the game. I guess it makes more sense for why they were there though. Though when I think about it... it's Crow's farewell for the entire group. That Divine Knight was almost certainly Ordine due to the massive hole where Ordine was hit. Then of course was Crow's cameo. When I think about it this way and combined with the ending, it's a nice send off. I am content until CSIII. As for the last boss... Reveal hidden contents I had Rean (ATK), Towa (Support Arts), Elise (Support Arts/ATK), Alfin (Offensive Arts, I think she was ), Laura (ATK), Fie (Support/Speed Demon) and Jusis (Offensive Arts). I opted out of having the extremely powerful support crafts of Alisa, Emma and Elliot. Hell, I opted out of Millium for her S-craft which saved my ass in CSI. I opened up with Rean and Laura's S-crafts, and alternate with Jusis and Alfin at blasting with arts (after Towa Weaken the boss). This brought the boss down to like 2/3 to nearly 1/2 health. It started to fall apart with the boss move of bringing down everyone to 1 HP. Alfin had to use her's S-craft to give me breathing room to use Towa or Elise to heal. Kind of worked but then he pulled away Towa and instant killed and drained Jusis of EP (making him useless). Elise is now on S-craft duty (she has Rean's original master quartz) to free people so she's out of healing duty besides the occasional support craft to barely keep me going. Bastard boss kept taking Towa. So now my offensive was slowed to a crawl. Alfin was trying to keep up with magic blasting (she was eventually drained of EP making her useless) while Rean was S-crafting and keeping people alive (thank you CP giving food). Laura was too slow to keep up so she was shelved. EVERYTHING would've fell apart if not for Fie. She's pretty glassy but she is fast and can evade like no tomorrow. She kept everything going by dishing out items. Eventually I was down to Rean, Elise, Fie and Towa which somehow limped me to victory. A poorly timed HP wipe with taking Towa hostage (She had Sepharic Ring) would've ended me. While I was poorly equipped (I mashed together gear for ALL the new people...), I think the boss' minions were the key difference. They have WAAAAY more health this time. Even Rean's S-craft was barely able to kill them all in one hit. They easily crowded out my team and gave back a decent chunk of health to the boss. CSII though is the complete opposite. I wasn't challenged in the main story from Garrelia Fortress until pretty much by the final boss. I think I'm talking about 80 hours or so of just breezing through the game. Reveal hidden contents One optional Cryptid fight and Major Neithardt's Soldat battle (which you can lose with only AP penalty; I somehow manage to beat him) were the only ones that truly challenged me. Even McBurn went down easy enough. This is problematic due to the frequent use of anime bullshit of where you easily win the fight but then you are tired or get trashed in the cutscene. I would've been fine if I was actually challenged. Edit: I think I should mention that I play on Hard on my first run on CSI and CSII. Hell, I wasn't using Rean's maxed out master quartz until the very end. If I had it all on him, he would've wiped the floor with the last boss. I debated about going in fresh with just unlimited Bonding events but I took my items so I can steam roll it to get to the extra NG+ stuff. I'll say that Divine Knight battles will be hard. I barely scraped by with the first Magic Knight encounter. Some enemies also hit for a decent clip so I do have to pay attention. I also using a guide now to just beeline for say recipes (might be moot since I did and got the master quartz rewards but I think Ferris gives you some item for a completed recipe book) and other items of note. As for the last dungeon, I'm certain now. Reveal hidden contents It is part of the Spirit Path. Celine explicitly says that it's where souls go sometime in Act 1/early Act 2. Well, we got to see Crow. If I am thinking correctly, it would also explains the thing that happened in Lohengrin Castle with Maybe-Lance Maiden. Lohengrin Castle and the Old School House are very similar and are situated on septium veins. I'm just not sure if the 3rd's Phantasma and Cold Steel's Spirit Path is one and the same. It all depends on what exactly the Aureloe is doing. However, the Old School House's last dungeons (and even CSII's "Finale" dungeon) and Phantasma looks very similar. Hell, then there's Loewe and Rufina. They're no mere copies. I'd argue their souls were used to make them. (Speaking of Loewe, there got to be more to his sword after seeing what McBurn was using.) Also regarding Cassius and other Sky stuff (in an older post), I think you are right. I would love to check wikis and stuff but they're minefields of spoilers. It is very difficult to build a timeline of events without being to check stuff. Even checking names is dangerous. It's how I got spoiled on who Reveal hidden contents Vita really was. I would love a wiki that's like The Tower of the Hand where you can set what games you have played so it can limit/expand what you can read (in the Tower of the Hand case, for A Song of Ice and Fire/ Game of Thrones). The sane guess would be that she's a descendant or something and is keeping her identity intentionally ambiguous but with Osborne's mystery survival and the Zephyr boss thing... I could see her being the actual Lance Maiden that's somehow still alive. I have to admit, that trailer is making my issues with the plot of Cold Steel II seem much less important. I can kinda see now that CSII was never meant to be a proper conclusion. It looks like a few specific people are still in Erebonia and things will be picking back up right where they left off, for the most part. The one thing I'm curious about is those new characters that seem to be the new main party members. Can't help but wonder where that leaves the other members of Class VII. Mal Posted March 9, 2018 Report Share Posted March 9, 2018 I'm hyped for Crossbell in the sense we know who's there. Reveal hidden contents Campanella being there is a big deal. He might not be the strongest but he has quite the connection to the Grand Master. It also should help clear up what's going on with folks in Crossbell. Like Reveal hidden contents One of Rean's students with the pink hair. She's from Crossbell. In the trailer, she was yelling at Rean to give back Crossbell. Not sure if she was a playable character in the Crossbell (I games but her fighting Campanella makes me think she is. Makes it pretty strange for her to be at an Erebronian military academy. And with the Ironbloods so deeply rooted, I doubt she would be deep cover. I'm unsure of the four others' origins (this Class VII) but it is way smaller which I suspect is to allow for people to easily be added on. I'm curious on how Rean will star in the game. Maybe he'll go with New-Class VII to their field studies. If he gets called out for an Ironblood job then he might have a chance to team up with more other people. Another thing to be excited about is to figure out what the hell is the Azure Tree is exactly. I'm still unsure why that was needed for the Infernal Castle to be. I suspect to achieve a closer bond between the higher elements and the real world. In effect making the world into Phantasma where your deepest thoughts/being can shape the world (As in the case of Kevin). And yeah, playing as the instructor this time around is going to require a change to the previous formula. I can't imagine field studies working in the same way if Rean is just tagging along with them all the time. That's assuming this version of Class VII doesn't serve a different purpose, though. It would be interesting if the game has you do Class VII stuff but then Rean sometimes goes off on his own assignments. I would welcome any change to the usual formula, personally. The rigid chapter structure was the weakest aspect of CSI and the more open Act 2 was the strongest aspect of CSII. What's weird/interesting is that Altina is in this incarnation of Class VII but Millium isn't. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Millium was the most insufferable fucking annoyance... As for the others, Gematsu has some character profiles from a little while back. I mostly just skimmed them but it's interesting to note that one of them Reveal hidden contents is a Vander. Seems they were dismissed as the protectors of the Imperial family at some point. It is taking all my damn will power not to read every single article published pre-release. That's a loaded location that Erebonia annexed and seems to be in the process of annexation by force (with help from Rean and maybe Class VII). Even if Sara did say Erebonia is her new home, I wonder how she is going to react to this. And fuck yes, finally western Erebonia. The east is old and tired but I wouldn't mind visiting a few select places again. I wonder if Rean will explore Crow's hometown and look around Duke Cayanne's place (where the Azure Knight* was kept). There's also the chance to explore Scarlet's old hometown (like Crow, there got to be more to her story). Now the characters... For Yunna, I wonder who pushed her to go to Thors II. For Vander's family dismissal, it makes sense to keep them away from protecting the royal family, mainly Olivert. Speaking of which, it got to be him calling all his old friends over in Liberal (seen in the trailer). He got to deal with both Osborne and Ouroburos. This is going to be interesting. When I think of "Lammy!", I have to raise my arm. Her and Altina are interesting since they are confirmed to have came from one of Ouroboros' Thirteen Factories (with one Osbourne now controlling. I wonder if it one and the same to the Reinford's Fifth Factory?). Renne and Pater Mater are products (for Renne after she got rescued) of the Thirteen Factories and now you cannot but help to compare them two to Renne. Not like you can ignore it previously... even Toval made a comment about it. Hell, I suspect there's still a Divine Knight in that castle. Yet in these last two games, what was behind the door was never looked into heavily... so frustrating. From talking to everyone during the free day, I got the sense that at least some of them had important personal matters to attend to but that's about it. I'm not sure why they're not sticking around (or coming back) for their second year. It kinda came off like an excuse to have Class VII part ways at the end more than anything else. I'm especially confused as to why Rean seems to be repeating his first year. I kept waiting for a flashback to explain that one and it never came. Edit: Also for the Erebonian Bracer guide branches, it is NOT any jaeger corps mentioned in Cold Steel that did it. It's by a corps named Jester's. Got this from the manga that bridges Sky with Crossbell within the first few pages. Unspoiler tagged since it's background information. Also I think this year is when I tackle a Sky replay. I miss the cast. Edit regarding the manga: Reveal hidden contents I think this manga is the reason for the thinking the Grand Master of Ouroboros is a woman. Ein Salnate, First Dominon of the Gralsritter, is also known as Grand Master. Could she be the one and the same? I doubt it since why would she need two REALLY STRONG organizations to find artifacts and to change the world. I think both the Septian Church's Gralsritter and Ouroboros is about the same power level. They both possess power members and incredible technology. Hell, there's reasoning to believe that Kevin is might be one of the strongest characters. There's also reason to believe to compare Kevin and Rean. Rean's ogre power is mighty suspiciously like Kevin's. Remember Kevin's little thing under a church? Going back to the manga... people die more in this than most of the games.
