Though it may make the wait for CSIII all the harder... Yeah, but I'm already like 10 hours into FFXV so I'll stick with that for now. I think I'll keep my NG+ run for when the Cold Steel III loc announcement comes. 14 hours ago, Mal said: Also I think this year is when I tackle a Sky replay. I miss the cast. Funny you should mention that, I've also been feeling kinda nostalgic about the Liberl arc ever since wrapping up CSII. Not sure why but I'm kinda getting the itch to replay them sooner rather than later. I might skip FC but I still need to do achievement cleanup runs on both SC and 3rd. Mal
It's my turn for walking into spoilers. I dunno what I was thinking going in there... Nothing too major I hope.
toxicitizen
Mine was pretty major ending stuff lol. Not relating to the overall world or plot but a specific character. I'm still pretty curious to see how it gets to that and how it actually goes down, though. Also, Ys: Memories of Celceta coming to PC this summer. They announced it much earlier than Ys Seven, so the build they're currently streaming on Twitch is fairly early in development and it's still a few months off. Same team that ported Ys Seven, so it sounds like it's in good hands. They've confirmed unlocked framerate, resolutions above 1080p and redone artwork. We still haven't heard any kind of confirmation about that April thing for Ys VIII (and I think we were supposed to get some details this week), so there's still a chance we get this first. I really hope we do, anything that makes NISA look even worse is hilarious at this point. Edited March 16, 2018 by FLD
Mal
I know generally the tone the ending takes. Plus now I know generally what one character does. No context though. Similar to how I knew in CS2 that Spoiler Osborne was alive because I saw memes between him and Rean. I never thought to related them as a family though! That was nice. For CS3, I have no context for what I have seen and read. As for Celceta's summer release. We now have a situation were we can compare, head to head, the port quality between Celceta and Ys VIII. More port quality than localization since we can already compare localization. This is potentially really fun.
Mal
I totally forgot about the second CS2's drama CD. It's also up on the website. This one I recommend reading The Ring of Judgement manga for some cameo of some characters. A meme with CS2 spoilers: Edited March 20, 2018 by Mal
toxicitizen
Lmao, goddamnit. As if this fucking meme wasn't bad enough already.
Mal
This is very likely to happen if we can track Crow's VA down Spoiler and bring him home. ;_;
Mal
The pun power house (or was this Tom?) is leaving XSEED. I love what he done with Zwei I and II. From what I seen, he wasn't as front and center in Cold Steel. Edited April 6, 2018 by Mal
toxicitizen
edit: Original tweet was deleted but the internet remembers. Announce new release date a single week ahead of time? Check! Misspell Adol's fucking name? Check! Delay once again? Find out next week, on Dragon Ball Z! There doesn't seem to be a beta this time, so I guess they'll have an excuse to just release it as is and act surprised if it turns out to still be an unplayable mess lol. Mal
And behold why most of the fan base don't trust them for localization. Maybe next week we can talk about port quality. Maybe I should just get the Switch version.
toxicitizen
Turns out there is a beta, just no new applications. After jerking us around for over half a year, the least they could've done is give us one last chance at scoring a free copy lol. Anyway, apparently it's mostly fixed. At least, that's what I've heard. I'm not sure where people are having these NDA-breaking discussions lol. So take it with a grain of salt. I still wouldn't pre-order. Or pay full price, to be honest. Edited April 11, 2018 by FLD
toxicitizen
Welp Seems performance is somewhat improved but people are reporting a ton of weird issues. From constant crashes and (apparently?) locked internal resolution all the way to movement being limited to 8-way. They had 7 fucking months to get this sorted and they still couldn't do it. What a joke lol. It's a shame SteamSpy recently died because I would love to see just how abysmally this is selling. If there's any justice in the world, it's bombing even harder than XSEED's releases. If Falcom ever give NISA not just Trails but literally anything else, I'm gonna have a hard time justifying supporting them in the future. It'll be a sad day when I have to wait for deep discounts for Falcom games out of principle. edit: Lmao, people (including Durante) are reporting that some of these issues weren't present in previous builds (as recently as last week-end). So the question is whether they uploaded the wrong build or somehow fucked it up overnight lol. Edited April 16, 2018 by FLD
Mal
Im not surprised yet I am still disappointed. Swirch version is my only savior. That should be a NIS port.
toxicitizen
Still gonna have that NISA localization, though. At this point I'm legit hoping for a PS5 remaster, just on the off chance it might end up going to XSEED and we get a do-over.
toxicitizen
Holy shit, so Alienware had some Disgaea 5 demo keys for Steam. Grabbed one and today I'm getting an alert that it was revoked. I'm still not 100% on what happened but the game is no longer purchasable and apparently the release date has been delayed. Lmao what the fuck is up with this company?
Mal
Looks like the demo keys had the possibility of unlocking the entire game. Good job.
TheMightyEthan
Isn't that the third or fourth time a demo has allowed access to the full game recently? What the hell is going on?
toxicitizen
I'm aware of this one and Yakuza. What other ones were there? I'm guessing it's simply a matter of it being easier to program a soft lock rather than actually removing content and compiling a completely new build. But yeah, if you're not careful that soft lock might be a little too soft lol. Edited May 3, 2018 by FLD
Mal
Well, all I will say is that beware of general Falcom threads, a lot of new info are being dumped, though what I read shouldn't be surprising since CS4 is bringing practically all the games together. Come Fall, the internet is going to be a damn minefield for TWO games. At least with CS4 releasing, we can start rolling dice for when the two games' localization will be announced (I'm a firm believer that CS3 and CS4 are a package). Seems like passing the soft lock allowed you to play levels and stuff pass the demo but no story content as in voices and cut scenes. This was done by modifying some hex memory (something that I have done for some mods before). Really simple however there was a hard lock in place which was a modified file that has to be unmodified. Near impossible to do if you don't know the original. Though the thing is, remember how the Switch was blown wide open? Recall how Disgaea 5 is on the Switch? Yeah. Drop in the file from the Switch version to the demo and away you go. Oh yeah, one more thing. Game can be modded now with impunity.
toxicitizen
Apparently the release date for Disgaea 5 on Steam (which IIRC, after the initial delay was a vague 'summer') has disappeared from the store page entirely today. I don't even know what to think anymore lol. Edited May 23, 2018 by FLD
Mal
So if Cold Steel 3 haven't been picked up yet by anyone, it'll take a while to translate and edit. While not a completely solid debunk (might be different for Western release for reasons), the recent announcement of Sony doing the Chinese and Korean localization of the *entire* Cold Steel series does make it possible that some company has the English localization rights to Cold Steel 3 already even when Cold Steel 4 isn't out yet. We'll see soon enough. I doubt it will happen though since announcing this project so ahead of time is risky from a release standpoint. Then again it would cool the flames of speculation down to the release date (instead of if and by who will it be by).
Mal
My attention was suddenly pointed towards Popful Mail today, a side-scrolling platformer in the vein of Wonder Boy mashed with the likes of Slayers. It's pretty janky by today's standards but it got quite the cast. Only letdown on that end is the very 90's localization. Here's the Sega CD version that got localized: PC-88 version I'm a total PC-88 fanboy so I think it's the superior version, sadly it is not localized at all. toxicitizen
I'm sure XSEED will get around to it once Falcom decides to give Cold Steel 3 and 4 to someone else. But yeah, that's one of the older Falcom games I know basically nothing about but see mentioned somewhat regularly on wishlists for XSEED to bring over. Going by those videos, I feel like I'd probably have a hard time getting into it. Another one I see mentioned regularly is Dinosaur Resurrection and that one looks a bit more up my alley.
