deanb
So I've put up the various times and links to streams and such on the Calendarhttp://forum.pressxordie.com/calendar/4-e3/events/2017/6/ (let me know if it corrects to your locality or not, obviously if you're in US and it's saying Sony are doing a stream in the early morning it isn't translating times for you). Also you can use the cog to download an ical (not to do with Apple) file to load in your calendar app of choice n get alerts. A bunch of generic streams here: https://www.youtube.com/user/E3http://uk.ign.com/events/e3https://www.twitch.tv/twitch Those of us around will likely be in the Discord room for reaction chat n such if you wish to join us there (link above in the main nav) Feel free to throw out your predictions, hopes and eventual discussion in this thread. danielpholt
What am I looking for from E3? I've got a new console and I'd kill for some fun games to play on it. Whilst I appreciate that 3rd party support will be lacking, I'm really hoping Nintendo can wow me with some cool stuff. Mario is a given, I'm going to buy that. I'm interested in this Rabbids thing....(shush) and I'm probably going to jump in on Splatoon II after giving the first game a miss. I'm desperate to see a new Metroid Prime game (hell I'd even take an HD re-release of Prime at this point). No bullshit pinball or arena shooters. Just Me, Samus and a shit load of spacey adventures, awesome alien looking things and a nice menu-scren would do the trick. Please Nintendo. Do something (anything) with this license. Also (and I shouldn't have to say this) put it on the Switch. The 3DS is great, but for my money you should be spending any future time making games for the system of the future. Failing that. I'd also accept a new game/remake of The Gamecubes Best Game Luigi's Mansion. That 3DS title was neat, and people went mad for it. Give the cooler brother another chance to (ahem) clean up with his own game. And Pokemon Switch. And Animal Crossing Switch. Star Fox? Switch??? Mario Tennis...on the Switch??????????? Away from Nintendo? Something Something Cyberpunk 2077. Something Something DMC2. Something Something Knights of the Old Republic 3.
Mal
Since I probably going to be traveling for work for potentially weeks at a time, I want a stronger Switch lineup. With a job, the Nintendo Tax isn't as much of a big deal (still annoying).
TheFlyingGerbil
I'm hoping to find out what Retro is working on - whether or not it is Metroid - just to put us out of our misery. I've already had the disappointing news that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will not be appearing though that hardly qualifies as news at this point. toxicitizen
Don't really have any predictions this year but I do have a few things I'm hoping for. Itsuno's secret project is finally announced to be Devil May Cry 5 That trademark leak turns out to be real and Bethesda announces The Evil Within 2 (this and Wolfenstein 2 are very likely, I think) And, of course, my continued hope for a new Splinter Cell. They revealed Far Cry 5 early, so this has to mean they have more than just the new AC, right?!? I'm also very curious to see what XSEED's E3 line-up will be. They usually announce it the week before the show and with Tokyo Xanadu and Ys VIII both going to other companies I can't really make any guesses. We already know it's coming but I'm not sure if that Senran Kagura Splatoon rip-off was officially announced. Probably that, I guess. Last year they announced a bunch of indie games, which was a little disappointing, so I'm hoping they have at least one or two neat surprises this year. Mal
I'm looking forward for any news on Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. It should be time that we get a release date. Us Mount and Blade fans waited for so long... 21 minutes ago, FLD said: Devil May Cry 5 Need more OG Vergil.
MetalCaveman
I gave up hope for any new Metroid game, this way, if they announce something cool it'll be fucking awesome, if it ends up being a new Federation Force then whatever, I won't care. I'm hoping for a release date confirmation for Darksiders 3, and maybe some new From Software game. Also, though this is extremely unlikely, it would be awesome if XSEED announced a release of Fate/Extra CCC, could be digital only, or whatever, don't care as long as it gets an English release. Mal
Oh yeah... Death Stranding Maybe we'll get more info about it then wait a year for release date (at best) for 2018 or a teaser for another day for them to announce it for early 2019 or something. Still, all the merch for the game is just bizarre. We don't know shit about it besides some cool teasers. Honestly, this may be the game that make or break Kojima for me. deanb
Cos I'm seemingly one of the few folks like seems to enjoy the Ubi formula I'm kinda looking forward to what they'll do with Far Cry and Assassins Creed (though I think ideally they should be doing these in two year rotations not having a lul then throwing out both at once). I'm behind on both series though. I'm kinda hankering after some TES VI. ESO has sparked that a fair bit for folks, and it has been nearly 6 years since their last one so I'd say it's over due. ('94, '96, '02, '06, '11....'17?). Sort of hoping that they might give it a bit of a broader scope than individual countries, especially given they've managed such with ESO. Also maybe kinda accepting the fact that the world has largely stagnated for the last few thousand years. Maybe make use of the dragonbreak lore/mechanic they've got to like an excuse to set it in an earlier period that "conflicts" with established lore of the existing games. Also as was the hope with Skyrim: use a new fucking engine. A civil war that involved a dozen men on each side is bloody stupid. Bethesda have actually hinted at two new IPs as part of their "Bethesdaland" promo given TES, Fallout, Prey, Dishonored and Doom are all covered. Is Wolfenstien Bethesda? If so they've got a sequel just leaked today. From Sony and MS I'm not really sure what I'd be wanting tbh. I guess The biggy for MS will be the Scorpio. Oh yeah I guess Sony will have Spiderman which'll be fun. And I guess from either of them we'll be getting the usual COD n FIFA stuff alongside one of them running a Destiny spot (which I think might be on the Sony show, especially if Activision want some breathing room away from the Scorpio talk). I doubt we're going to get much from Death Stranding, last year putting stuff out was like within months of him signing up with Sony so that likely was literally all they had at the time.
Mal
Yeah, Death Stranding won't be at E3 this year. Which is fine. As for TES VI. Maybe it'll be the game where your decisions will be a bit more concrete. No more being a top guy in every faction in the region. More of being acknowledged by the NPCs that you are indeed the super badass you are. 1 hour ago, deanbmmv said: Is Wolfenstien Bethesda? If so they've got a sequel just leaked today. Yeah., it's theirs.
MetalCaveman
After playing Wildlands, I'm curious to see what they'll do with Far Cry, Wildlands had a ton of potential, but Ubi still can't get side activities right IMO, I've already maxed out rebel help and there's still a ton of missions left, which don't give any kind of useful reward if you've already unlocked all rebel support skills, would be cool if they gave you supplies or something. The new AC could be cool, but Black Flag ruined that franchise for me, no game after has been able to match it. Still, the setting sounds interesting though, so I'll keep an eye on it. Mister Jack
So did nobody else even watch the EA conference? Frankly, I don't blame you guys. It was exactly what I expected it to be. SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS I don't understand why they even bother wasting time with their sports lineup. Isn't EA the only option for officially licensed NFL, NBA, and FIFA games? If you're a sports nut, you either play EA games or you go fuck yourself. Need for Speed was just completely generic looking, but that's pretty much every Need for Speed game now. That prison game (A Way Out, I think?) looked interesting, at least. Battlefront II looked better than the last one, but that's really not saying much after the first one was so fucking terrible. I might have misheard but I think they said they were dropping the season pass to go with a more Overwatch inspired model of monetization? If so that's definitely a step in the right direction because season passes are a cancer on the industry. Still, way too much uninteresting filler bullshit. TheMightyEthan
I basically agree with Jack. I do want to add that to me A Way Out looked cool, but coop-only is almost a dealbreaker for me. I don't want to have to coordinate with other people to play my game's campaign, and I don't want to have to rely on randos from the internet for what appears to be a heavily story-based game like that. I love it when games offer coop, but I don't want them to require it.
deanb
Yeah I said in the chat it seems odd to focus so much on the sports stuff given it's going to sell like bonkers and it'd only be news if they weren't doing sports games this year. It's a bit concerning for how much other games they don't have if they had to spend so much time on the sports stuff and like a 20 minute segment of just a LP of Battlefront II. They otherwise only really had Way Out and Need 4 Speed, with a teaser for Anthem. Also I'd say it's more accurate to say they're following a Titanfall 2 model given that's the game they have and are basing the model off. Mister Jack
What did they do with Titanfall 2 again? I didn't realize that game even had microtransactions. Given this is EA, though, I guess I should have.
TheFlyingGerbil
If you watch the xbox E3 briefing on mixer (the MS twitch-like streaming site) tonight you'll get a free "E3 mixer pot" which includes free games and DLC. They've not said what they'll be but if you're going to be watching it anyway you may as well get some free stuff out of it. Le deets. TCP
TCP's E3 Predictions (Well More Like Hopes and Dreams): -Switch Virtual Console is announced, debuts with most (or all?) of the Wii U VC. I don't have to pay for my VC games again or if I do it's a small upgrade fee and they come with filter options. -2D (or 2.5D) downloadable Metroid game is announced AND a 3D retail Metroid game is announced, like when Fusion and Prime came out simultaneously. -New DLC for Mario Kart 8. I played all these tracks to death on the Wii U, wouldn't it be cool if Mario Kart was just this ever growing platform? -Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS port on the Switch, with the stages from each games... AND the Ice Climbers. And BotW Link. -Spider-Man PS4 is a fall 2017 game. -Bethesda announces Starfield, has no microtransactions, looks dope as hell. -PS4 Pro price drop -Ocarina of Time / Majora's Mask 3D ports on Switch. Have you seen the videos of how great those games look in 4K? -VITA 2 IS ANNOUNCED, IS INCREDIBLE! Mister Jack
Evil Within? Didn't everyone basically ignore that game? You can get it for next to nothing these days. Why are they making a sequel?
TCP
My understanding was it was the poor man's Resident Evil but I don't know what the point of it is now that RE is back with 7.
toxicitizen
Obviously it did well enough to get a sequel. Say what you will about them but I love how Bethesda isn't as eager to kill new IPs as other publishers. 1 minute ago, Cowboy Danger Poet said: My understanding was it was the poor man's Resident Evil but I don't know what the point of it is now that RE is back with 7. Nah, it was better than that. I mean, how could it be the "poor man's RE" when it was made by the same dude and was better than pretty much ever single RE in over a decade? Plus, I feel it's even more welcome now that RE has moved away from that kind of gameplay.
