Fate Grand Order

Thought this would be worthy of its own thread, specially since they recently announced that the facebook campaign was a huge success. :P

If you're a Fate/ fan or Type-Moon fan, you'll probably want to take a look at this here game. :P It'll be available on android and ios, and though it currently doesn't have an official release date, beyond summer 2017, some people have theorized that it could come out around late July, in a way that would match the original JP release date.

It has tons of new servants, plus some fan favourites from both the VNs and the games, plus, it's where Altera was introduced, you might be familiar with her if you've played Fate/Extella. :P

Anyway, here's the official site:

Announcement trailer:

Regarding the facebook campaign, it was this:

Asking people to like the page in order to unlock in-game rewards, turns out, it didn't take long to complete all tiers. :P

Here's the important part about these rewards though, Saber Lily is not the best servant, but she's still a nice addition to the team, specially if you're a Saber fan, the big thing here are the Saint Quartz, those are used for premium rolls, and since these rewards will be available to everyone playing the game, it's going to be re-roll heaven for many, which likely means it'll be hell for the servers. :P Still, those 30 Quartz mean a free 10 roll, which is extremely helpful.

Mind you, this game isn't perfect, and has some serious issues with grinding, rolls/pulls/gacha/whatever you call it, etc. Still, I'm hoping the story and the characters will be good enough to counter those negatives.

Here's a review of the game:

Goes into more detail about a lot of stuff, including some of the issues I mentioned.

Been reading these:

http://fategrandorder.wikia.com/wiki/Learn_More_with_Manga!

It's a funny manga that's supposed to teach some gameplay mechanics and stuff, though it tends to deviate quite a bit, it does contain some spoilers though, so beware. :P

It's coming out Sunday at 9PM/21:00 PDT. So that's a thing... :P Weird schedule considering most people won't be able to play or won't be able to play that much given that Monday is usually back to work/school day. :P Though I guess that's a way to prevent the servers from just catching fire and collapsing. :P

Edit: They just announced players will get to pick one 4-star servant as an extra reward:

That's pretty cool, I've been told Heracles is pretty awesome for a good chunk of the game due to how much damage he deals, so getting him for free essentially makes it easier to use the tutorial roll for whatever servant(s) you want, not the one you may need. :P

It's now available! \m/ \m/ :P Though if you live outisde the US or Canada you'll need to get the apk to play. :P Though I can't speak for the quality of the translation*, there's been a lot of typos and other minor issues and they're frequent enough that they start to become annoying after some time. :P

*Beyond the fact that Altria sounds too much like Altaria. :P

Still, I'd recommend it if you're looking for a fun game to play on your phone/tablet/whatever. :P

So... Turns out there may be way more problems with the translation than just some typos and grammar mistakes, and this isn't just the usual fans not being happy with stuff not being translated the way they wanted, but actual translators talking about the many issues the game has, including the fact that, for some servant skills, the names and descriptions seem to have been translated literally from the meaning of each kanji as oppposed to looking at the whole thing to understand what it means.

There's also issues with the way some characters talk about things related to their history/legends.

Overall, it seems this has a ton of issues, which sucks, as the main appeal for me and many fans was finally being able to understand the story. So now it's a damned if you do damned if you don't, I've seen some translators complain about the fact that this is the resulf ot people not demanding better quality from official works, instead just being happy with any kind of official release, at the same time, when people ask for better translations the term "entitlement" gets thrown around like candy to silence any complaints so... I guess we'll leave it to fate then? :P

Edit: Some tweets I've seen:
