Eleven
I'm trying out a Fire TV for retro gaming, and having trouble pairing my DS4s wirelessly (the old DS4 doesn't pair at all, the new DS4 pairs with terrible button mappings) so I decided to get the Fire TV controller after a bit of research. Hey, it's basically a 360 controller, so why not? I even checked if it has L3/R3, unlike the MadCatz MFi controller for iOS that I can't believe doesn't have those two buttons... Anyway, it pairs great being a first party peripheral and everything, but anyone who tells you it's like a 360 controller is lying. That thing is terrible. The sticks are fine, I don't like the way the click feels but that's fine, but the problem is it seems like the buttons don't register like 20% of the time. I played Megaman on it and I died because the jump button didn't register, or the I got hit because the down button on the D-pad didn't register and I didn't slide (jumping instead). The D-pad is worse than the 360 D-pad. I probably will just return it and look for another controller. The 8bitdo SNES controller is what I'm looking at next, but the only problem with that is the lack of buttons for PS1 or PSP emulation (if the FireTV can even run those). But it seems like the best retro controller after researching a bit. I could tinker with the FireTV more and correct the mappings for the DS4 (I think that's possible), but the 8bitdo is MFi certified too for iOS. So I don't know. Maybe I'll just try the DS4, I'm just to lazy to tinker with it... On a related note, Amazon has terrible remotes/controllers. I love the FireTV's capabilities, but the remote is not good. I guess I was spoiled with the ATV 4 Siri remote.
