What's Your Comfort Game?

I was actually going to ask on Twitter what pieces of media people consider their "warm blanket". Be it books, films, TV series, albums etc. Maybe that's something for the Entertainment Exchange here.

Anyway, on the actual topic: it was Destiny for a long time and will probably be Destiny 2 when that comes out. Before that it was the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

That said, if I've had a bad day lately, I'm usually too exhausted or fed up to bother with games. Even "lightweight" mobile ones. Also, given how much changes in gaming, it isn't always easy to get into an old favourite game like it is just picking up a book.

Ghost Recon Wildlands, it's fun to just equip and LMG and an assault rifle with a grenade launcher and just cause chaos everywhere. :P There's also a couple of mobile games I've been playing, just farming for materials in Fate/Grand Order and clearing quests in Legacy of the Beast is great when you don't want to do anything else. :P

Currently though, what I do most when I just want to unwind is play guitar, or piano. :P

Mine tends to just be whatever game I happen to be playing at that time, but if I had to pick a specific game that I repeatedly go back to it would have to be either Halo: CE or Wind Waker.  I love both of those game so much, and have played them so many times that I can about do it with my eyes closed.

I tend to avoid games in these sorts of situations, as I don't really find them relaxing. The nearest thing to an exception is the animal crossing series but I've not played New Leaf for a good while now. I hope the switch one is on the horizon.

I've noticed that over the last few years, one game each year becomes this game. First it was Destiny, then Rocket League, Overwatch and now Splatoon 2. I was tempted to put PUBG, but with that game being so incredibly tense I'm not sure I actively seek that out after a bad day. I want something easy, something that doesn't demand much. Splatoon 2 has such a low barrier to entry that I can throw it on, play a few rounds and work through whatever I'm currently going through without having to focus to much of my energy on playing well.
