danielpholt
We've all got them. Who are yours? I'll get us started with a few off the top of my head. Ninja Theory It dawned on me whilst telling anyone who'd listen that Hellblade is fantastic, that I also felt the same way about NJ's other titles. DMC was one of my favourite games of the year it was released, and Enslaved was one of the rare games that I played through in the space of 2-3 sittings. I love their sense of style, I love their ability to mix it up a little and most of all I love how willing they are to do something a little different. Bioware Funny thing about Bioware games. I've never had any interest in Dragon Age, and the latest Mass Effect game appears to be one to miss. However, the original three Mass Effect titles are likely some of my favourite games of all time. Knights of the Old Republic was one of the first 'long' games I ever completed and whilst they're not incapable of screwing it up, I'm always excited to see what they've got coming next. CDPR Along similar lines to Bioware here. I adore The Witcher franchise. And cannot wait to see more of what they've got coming up. Hell, I'm even tempted to jump into this card game they've made. I fucking hate cards.

Mister Jack
This is a tough one, because many of my favorite devs from back in the day either went over to the dark side or they just started fucking up in general. Case in point? There was a time when I would have said my favorite developer was Konami. If I'm going by my favorite developer right NOW, though? It's a tough call, honestly. If I had to choose, I might say Square-Enix. Now I know they aren't perfect and that they have done some slimy things with some of their games, but quite frankly what major studio doesn't do anything greedy or unethical these days? CD Projekt Red is the only one I can think of where I don't recall any big scandals, but I've only played three games by those guys so I don't know that I can say they're my favorite developer. They're certainly very good developers, but all they've really put out so far are Witcher games as far as I know so it's a little early to call them my new favorite. Square's been around for a long time though, and despite some occasional missteps and poor decisions, when they put out something good it's REALLY good. I can get absorbed for dozens of hours in a good Square Enix game. So yeah, until further notice, I think I'm gonna say they're my favorite. toxicitizen
Kojima/KojiPro: I'm a huge MGS fan and even with all my issues with MGSV I still thought it was a 10/10 on gameplay alone. Given that Death Stranding is a fresh start with no story baggage, I have no reason to expect anything but greatness from it. PlatinumGames: They've had a few duds in recent years but at their best they still have everyone else beat as far as action games go. Nihon Falcom: They've been around forever and basically invented the action RPG subgenre but I wouldn't have recognized the name just a few years ago. And yet, Trails has pretty much become my favorite game series at this point and seeing their name is enough to instantly put any game on my radar. Zachtronics: The only indie dev I feel strongly enough about to put on this list. They're about as niche as you can get (seriously, if there's a genre more niche than "programming games", I don't know what it is) and I've never even finished any of their games but I'm still there day one whenever they release a new one. I also kinda want to say FromSoftware but I haven't played anything they've made pre-Souls, so I'm really not sure. I'm really curious to see what they've been working on since Dark Souls III and Bloodborne but I don't exactly feel like they could do no wrong. 2 hours ago, danielpholt said: Ninja Theory It dawned on me whilst telling anyone who'd listen that Hellblade is fantastic, that I also felt the same way about NJ's other titles. I wouldn't necessarily call them a favorite of mine but I loved both Enslaved and DmC a lot. The amount of hate they get seriously confuses the hell out of me. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, this is hard. I would have said Bungie, but every decision they make with Destiny seems like they're going "What would Ethan not like? We'll do that." so idk anymore.
MetalCaveman
It's hard to say, since old favourites have either disappeared, stopped making games I care about or fucked up hardcore at some point in time. Though current ones I would say are From Software, I like the Souls series, even if 3 has been disappointing so far, loved the hell out of Bloodborne and the Armored Core series is really fun. I would also include Marvelous/Honey Parade games, since I love the Senran Kagura series, and Fate/Extella is pretty fucking cool. \m/ \m/ Techland made Dying Light, so there's that, and 4A games is also there because the Metro series is fucking awesome. \m/ \m/

Mr. GOH!
Obsidian, Supergiant, Telltale, Bioware, Firaxis, Arkane Studios, and Paradox. There are lots of other good developers, and most of my favorites have made a bad game or two, but I give these groups all the benefit of the doubt. TheMightyEthan
Supergiant will definitely go on my list if I enjoy Pyre as much as I'm expecting. Bioware is another one like Bungie, that I would have put on the list a few years ago, but now they seem to be drifting further and further from what I want from them (although I did quite enjoy Inquisition). Hot Heart
Like a few people have already said, it's hard to say that old favourites aren't currently not so great, but I'll go with an "all-time" approach. CDPR I love what they did with the Witcher franchise and they really seem like a dev that goes the extra mile. BioWare Obviously, there are multiple studios in the mix here now and later stuff hasn't been as good, but they'll always be the guys that made Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, Jade Empire and, of course, Knights of the Old Republic. Rocksteady Studios What they did with the Arkham games was brilliant. AK definitely had its issues (stealth tank missions?! A stealth tank boss battle?!) but it also gave you a phenomenal Batman experience as well. Harmonix The early Guitar Hero games and the Rock Band series were great and you could really tell these were also musicians who loved their work. RB4 is a little disappointing (particularly in terms of a reduction of features) but these are the guys who made The Beatles: Rock Band. Bungie Yes, Destiny has its problems and there are still quibbles I have with the direction of D2 (although, the more they're actually revealing now gives me confidence) but I still love the series. And, of course, these are the guys who made Halo. I've never seen anyone make (console) shooters as good as Bungie. Criterion Software The guys who made Burnout and should make more Burnout. I want more Burnout. Sandlot EDF! EDF! EDF!

deanb
CDPR are definitely pretty dang golden at the moment. They're very much on a "will buy site unseen" at the moment. Obsidian are pretty good. Their games have flaws, but a lot of heart and care. Unfortunately most studios fall into this: Most current Valve stuff I've little interest in for example, and Bioware have had a severe decline over the years.
