Bogie 2.0
I’ll start then: Anachronox I find this to be a truly wonderful gem, mixing turn-based JRPG mechanics and great writing into a humorous scifi adventure like no other! By the same company that produced Deus Ex, this is one not to be missed – that is... if you don’t mind the quake II engine. And it's dirt cheap too!
TheMightyEthan
This is a fantastic idea for a thread. I'm surprised we didn't have it already.
toxicitizen
I second the Anachronox recommendation. It's not just the earliest example of a western JRPG that I'm aware of, it's also absolutely bonkers. Your party members eventually include a superhero and a fucking planet. Shadow Watch is also pretty great and I never see anyone talking about it online. It's an XCOM-style turn-based strategy game with a comic book art style that seems to have held up reasonably well based on screenshots. It was made by Redstorm right before the Ubisoft acquisition and technically falls under the Tom Clancy brand since it's based on one of those books he didn't write but slapped his name on anyway. It was impossible to find for years but I recently found out it's on GOG now.
silly7722
Just picked up Heat Signature on steam. I have been enjoying it so far. It's a top down stealth game similar to Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine, but in a space setting. I will stop there so i don't spoil the experience . Bogie 2.0
@TheMightyEthan Aw shucks! Then share that forbidden wisdom with us. 21 hours ago, FLD said: I second the Anachronox recommendation. ! Them nasty spoilers tho... As for Shadow Watch: I've been playing it for a couple of hours and it's way more complex and fleshed-out than I had expected. All those walls of text detailing about the world and the characters puts this one just a step away from a Kojima game -- still nothing about their multi-layered sex lives nor damn fiddles so I'm safe . Having a blast (despite the nonsensical controls)! @silly7722 Post your review of it here when you're done for us to see if it proved its worthiness! Bogie 2.0
Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death (freaking DEATH, people!) A great FPS from Rebellion with all the violence and testosterone you'll ever need! With the added bonus of allowing you to throw anyone in jail for whatever reason. "Loitering!? Life sentence!" Pick it up and help clean Mega-City One of these creeps!
toxicitizen
Oh man, I remember really wanting to play that one back when it first came out but not having a PC capable of running it. Could be a fun pickup for next time I'm in the mood for an old-school FPS. Also, it reminded me of two more, for some reason. It's your typical shitty-looking FPS from the late 90s, except every now and then you would get into a giant Evangelion-style mech and play with that for a few levels. And it's actually made by Monolith, now famous for the F.E.A.R. series and Middle-Earth: Lootbox Simulator 2017. It's available on Steam. Next up is Oni. An anime-inspired melee action game made by, I shit you not, Bungie. I can't say much about it because I never got very far into it. It was hard as fuck but it was the first third-person game I ever played with a focus on melee combat (specifically martial arts) instead of shooting, so it seemed super fucking cool at the time. Sadly, it doesn't look like it's available anywhere digitally.

There's only sweat, blood and t-HOLY S*** A XENOMORPH!!"He was reaching for his gun, I swear! " ------- I bought ONI for the PS2 along with Timesplitters II yeeeaaars ago because the character looked so much like the protag from the awesome Fear Effect games on the original playstation. My reasoning that time for picking it up was “if she looks like her then chances are she’ll also run around in a bathrobe and make out with girls!” ONI was a pretty neat brawler filled with shoryukens which almost saved it for the disgusting lack of bathrobes. Raziel
Lesser known games are kinda my Jam For now, I would just like to leave two gems by the same developer for those who are obsessed with insanely detailed games. Dominions 5 For large scale, long-lasting games Conquest of Elysium 4 For smaller, relatively quick games
danielpholt
Refunct It's a short little platforming experience where you jump around changing the colour of these um, platforms. You'll beat it in less than twenty minutes but its super charming and I found it really relaxing to play. Also super cheap right now.
