Invasions are going to be interesting, I like that they are optional, and I wonder if they will be adding some form of coop or something like that, would be cool. :P

https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/06/09/doom-eternal-will-answer-the-question-of-who-the-doom-slayer-is

I'd actually be really disappointed if it turns out the Doom Slayer  and the Doomguy are the same dude. I like the idea of the Doom Slayer being an immortal, unstoppable demon killer from another world that's mostly indifferent to humans. If they made him the same human dude from the previous games it'd be lame IMO. :P

Was that hinted at in the original or something? If so, I guess I was paying attention to the story about as much as the Doom Slayer himself because it never occurred to me that he could be anyone other than the Doom guy lol.

Also, just ended up on the Doom wiki and apparently the Doom guy (or at least someone in the Doom universe?) is called B.J. Blazkowicz III??? Yes, that B.J. Blazkowicz. So Doom is a canonical sequel to Wolfenstein?!? ?

Yeah, the Doomguy is a descendant of B.J. :P

Also yeah, :P in DOOM2016, you found these fragments of, I think it was the bible of hell or something, called the Slayer Testament, which described the Doom Slayer as leader of the Night Sentinels, Guardians of Arjent D'Nur, who began his campaign of revenge against hell after the demons took over his world,  it's mentioned that this was during the "first age", and according to some of the data you can find, the demons are currently living in... the fifth age I believe. Don't know how long each age is but it is mentioned that studies of the Praetor suit identify it as being old as hell (heh :P ), and the Slayer had been killing demons well before receiving it. There's also that whole thing about the Slayer being powered up by the Seraphim, who bestowed upon him strength and speed, then the thing with the Titan, hell's last hope which was crushed by the Slayer, etc. There's a bunch of stuff there that pretty much states the Doom Slayer is not even human. :P

In fact presumably it was thanks to him that the demons were able to do all that as it is mentioned that the demons promised the return of his son in exchange for access to the Wraiths, however, instead of his son, they returned to him the Icon Of Sin, and proceeded to take over/kill everyone in Arjent D'Nur. Afterwards he began his crusade, killing the crap out of any demons that were in his way. :P

I spent some time with the Battlemode multiplayer of Doom Eternal and it's actually pretty cool. You definitely want to go through the tutorials or you'll probably feel lost when you start but this is a fun, unique multiplayer experience.

It's a 2v1 system. Two demons vs one slayer. The slayer has access to most of his abilities, guns, and mods and he can also heal himself by doing glory kills. The demons, besides having a numbers advantage, can also summon NPC demons to attack the slayer and have class abilities but the trade-off is that playable demons are weaker and less mobile. I went into this thinking that the demons would have an unfair advantage over the slayer but a good slayer can clean house. If you can beat the campaign on ultraviolence then you should have more than enough skill to hold your own against the demon players. Conversely, demons who use their abilities and summons wisely are plenty capable of winning, though there's pretty much no demon class who is gonna beat the slayer in a 1v1 duel unless the slayer is really bad. The way to win as a demon is to apply pressure with your summons and either attack the slayer from a distance while he's distracted or take him by surprise with a high damage close range attack.

Don't dismiss this just because "Eh nobody cares about multiplayer in Doom." You might be surprised at how well it works.

Ran into a bug that's locked me out from getting any of the weapon mastery skins. I have the mods, the upgrades and the mastery stuff in the arsenal, but if I check the milestones those are still locked. :(

Everything else has been fucking awesome so far. \m/ \m/
