FMW
Has anyone else here played Celeste? I just finished it. I think I like every part of it individually? The controls are tight, the level design joyful, the writing overperforms, and there's lots and lots of secrets available to extend the game. But man, the ultra hard player destroyer platformer is a weird fit for a feel good uplifting story about loving yourself. I beat this game in a little less than seven hours. We'll round that to seven. So that's 420 minutes. I died MORE than 1000 times clearing this campaign. It was an average of a death every 20 seconds or something. There's just not an awful lot of room for error in these levels. And I understand that the game is going for a narrative thing where working through your own depression and personal issues isn't easy. They've said as much. The game is supposed to be hard. But I think that was TOO HARD. So now I kinda don't want to go back and play the rest. Because all the optional stuff will be even harder. And there's no more campaign here, it's just hard levels for the sake of hard levels. It's weird for me to say this about a game I really do like, but: I'm glad it's over and I'm out of here.
