deanb
I only played a bit of the first but yeah Ni No Kuni II is seeming pretty standalone, it's set like 1,000 years after and so far doesn't seem to be referencing much to the first game (apart from some of the locations being around). TheMightyEthan
I watched my wife play the first hour or so yesterday, and I didn't feel like I was missing anything, even though she kept noticing references to the first game, so it seems well-handled. deanb
Yeah the opening is in Ding Dong Dell which is the first town in the first game as well, but as far as I'm aware it's sort of the only town to make it from the first game (a lot can happen in 1,000 years it seems). I believe you're playing a direct descendent of the cat king from the first game.

If you love this game and wish for a physical copy, I'd recommend this if you have the funds. The base version is well a box but the art and such is nice. I actually reversed the cover since I liked the alternative one. Also, if you're new, I would avoid looking at the map. I kind of want to frame those four prints because they're so pretty. The intact collector's edition packaging needs the brooch in the center so it'll stay there. Hopefully the Hornet standalone game will have a physical at or soon after launch. Now to see if it plays well on handheld mode. And if the drift manifest itself in making the game unplayable. I really do want to do the DLC quests. Heard they are hard as balls so I hope my joycon drift is only temporary (doubt it). 1
TheMightyEthan
Steam gave me a 50% off coupon for Frostpunk since I own Banished, and apparently more than a year after it came out that's still the biggest discount it's ever had, so I went for it. TheMightyEthan
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Moonlighter from the Humble Monthly. I really got it for Hellblade, because the $12 subscription cost is tied for the cheapest Hellblade has ever been.
TCP
I guess I'm playing Final Fantasy games now?? Anyways, played about 9 hours of this when it first came out but wasn't feeling it. Now after FFXII and Persona 5 last year, I feel my appreciation for JRPGs is better these days. Edited June 9, 2019 by Ultra TCP

The combat/gamey aspects distracted from what the game is conveying otherwise I really enjoyed Hellblade. Headphones on for this one. TheMightyEthan
Just found out Hellblade is on the PC version of Xbox Game Pass, which is only $5/month...

MetalCaveman
For $3, why the hell not? I actually do enjoy sports games, though I haven't bought one in a while, until now that is.
Mal
Have a non-injured Golden State Warriors battle the Raptors. Do it a couple times and I want to see the outcome.

Mal
Either the defense on both teams were really strong or the teams were both high and drunk at the same time.
MetalCaveman
I did set it to Pro difficulty. which may explain the... Lack of points.

If I was substantially more liquid right now I'd be getting a Switch for that...and others. The portable aspect is kinda nice to me atm) Anywho I got this: Still on the first section, but tbh didn't get it for myself to blast through but for the co-op nostalgia goodness. Unfortunately as we're now all significantly older it's a bit harder to get siblings over to play as of yet but damn looking forward to it. toxicitizen
First round of purchases in the Steam sale. This ended up only costing me like 20 bucks because of that Sekiro refund I was able to keep + selling a bunch of trading cards over the last couple weeks. Also got an expansion for FFXIV as well as these in anticipation for Halo MCC! Might end up getting more but the other things on the list are a bit pricier so I might hold off. 1
Mister Jack
Got Final Fantasy VII for the Switch. The PC port is trash and I am now hyped for the remake so having a portable version of the original was just too tempting to pass up. 1
toxicitizen
Ended up getting these two a few days ago: And today, with the 6$ coupon I earned from the grand prix thing + selling a few more cards, I ended up finally taking the plunge on this: I'm mildly hopeful the "fixed" translation won't bug me too much, since I never really had any problems with NISA's work in Disgaea or Danganronpa. Either way I'm gonna have to make my peace with this shit because it doesn't look like the situation is gonna change anytime soon... Anyway, that should probably be it for me. I'm still tempted to get Battletech but that expensive season pass really makes me want to wait and get the complete edition for much cheaper in a year or two. 2
CorgiShinobi
Man, I gotta finish VC4. I didn't even know there was a contest/game for the Summer Sale until I had already bought all the games I wanted. The mobile app does a piss poor job of showing what the heck is going on. I'm thinking of getting Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night now, but that's about it.

You're better off that way. This metagame was such a convoluted mess that I don't think they could've made it any more confusing if they had tried. It took them like a week to finally update it to a state where it was comprehensible by normal human beings...
Mister Jack
Well I finished killing Emerald and Ruby Weapon in FFVII so I went ahead and bought FFIX for the Switch too. The Switch really is the perfect console for classic JRPGs.
MetalCaveman
The only game that I'm interested in and that I can actually go "yeah, I'll play that in the near future" as opposed to just buying it and having it sit untouched in my library until the end of time.
