I dunno about that. I just finished Yooka-Laylee last night and I feel like I was pretty miserable the entire time.

TheMightyEthan
I just finished Persona 5's NG+, and for whatever reason that game was really making me want Final Fantasy XV...
deanb
Weird desire from playing both P5 n FFXV.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I fully admit it makes no sense whatsoever. They're both JRPGs, and I guess they kind of have the friendship theme in common, but as I understand it that's about the extent of it. TheMightyEthan
So Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble stealth released a few days ago. I loved the first, so I picked up this one on Switch as well.

deanb
Got myself a PS Classic. For £15 can't much go wrong. And surprisingly easy to hack. Like once you've done the initial hack with a USB drive in the USB port on the front(which is the glowing red weakpoint on this device), you can then plug the USB cable used for power into your PC and just transfer games onto it with a pretty simple drag-n-drop web interface. So obviously mine has FFIX on it.
Mister Jack
Does the hack put a new emulator on there? I considered buying a PS Classic for hacking but the shoddy emulator that's already loaded on the system discouraged me from doing so. deanb
Puts on Retroarch, which means you can play the built in games with slightly amped up graphics and in theory also put on other emulators/cores (though I've yet to figure that part out). CorgiShinobi
For $20, might as well bite for modding/emulating. To think this once cost $100 at launch.
deanb
tbh for modding/emulating your best bet in long run might be a Raspberry Pi, main bonus I guess going for the PS Classic is you get the cables n controllers included I guess. Also it looks kinda cute.
CorgiShinobi
Yeah a Raspberry Pi would ultimately be the best, but the case and modding support for the "PSC" right now is worth the $20 if you ask me. So I got one the other day, though I had to venture to... Walmart... It's a hellish hell which even Hell would say, "Oh hell nah!" Screaming kids everywhere and about every 10.1 seconds you'll see someone's butt crack. I suspect it is the cultural custom for all loyal patrons of Wally World. The store has the PSC behind a glass case, so I needed an associate. The thing about Walmart is you can rarely find a spare associate who is either not doing freight or actually wants to help you. I can't quite blame them with their unique clientele, but in this situation you do need them. The Walmart app, when entering a store goes into "Store Assistant" mode. In store they wanted to charge $40, but online it's $20. Thing is, the online pricing gets masked by the store pricing, so you have to fiddle with it to pull up the Walmart.com pricing. Oh, and I guess Walmart no longer price matches. Because when I couldn't find the online price at first, I thought I might as well price match with Best Buy instead. The associate gives me this curt rejection and claims they haven't price matched in "a long time." Except when I looked online later the change in policy was effective May 14, 2019. Even when I got the online pricing back up, the associate didn't believe I was in the Walmart app. So I back out of the item description and show her the app displaying the store map and aisle numbers. But she still didn't believe me, so I backed out all the way to the Walmart app's homepage. So she believes me now and is willing to charge the $20 price instead. Except, right after she agrees, she scans it and asks for the $40 price. Like... WTF?! I guess it could have been a mistake, but we had just finished talking about adjusting the price and the next second she wants me to swipe the card. It has me wondering if my Walmart is now downright shady and bullheaded about their pricing. The company is no longer the "best value" in pricing and all the cuts they've made are probably digging into them now.
Baconrath
Maybe they got tired of dealing with weird pricing errors...like when Amazon moves the decimal one place making a $19.99 book into a $199.99 one and vice versa. Walmart still shady af I think this is most of the new stuff I got. I'm still in post-Stormblood content so I can't really give any opinions on Shadowbringers yet, but the other three are pretty great.
CorgiShinobi
So I've bought myself a PS4 Pro... Normally I wouldn't have bothered, especially because we should probably be getting a PS5 next year. But... I have a girlfriend now and she's a gamer too. We've played on one of her friend's Minecraft server, but maybe one other person gets on, so it's usually just us. I help her with her base, but I'm still essentially a stranger in a world built by absent adventurers. So I had the idea of upgrading myself to the Pro and giving my girlfriend my original PS4. Getting her into Monster Hunter World and come September there will be the Iceborne DLC. If anything, there are tons of $20 (or cheaper) classics on the PS4, so I think it's a solid system to have and purchase a few games over time. Last night I finished the system transfer, so for the most part it's all set up aside from restoring the original and getting that ready for her.
TheMightyEthan
Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The drop to $50 was enough to push me over the edge. With my Amazon card points I've built up it was only $30 out of pocket for me. 1

toxicitizen
Let me know how it is! I've heard great things but I feel like more often than not these unlocalized games get an exaggerated amount of praise and turn out to be aggressively underwhelming. See: Final Fantasy Type-0. I got it for like 20 bucks and I still regretted my purchase. God, what a fucking turd. Anyway, EVO fever got to me and I grabbed some things. Maybe this will be the time I finally stick with one of these games long enough to actually get good at it. Probably not, but FighterZ is still pretty damn fun so whatever! toxicitizen
It's currently free to play on Steam, so I installed it and got instantly hooked. Ended up buying the bundle that comes with the first two seasons of characters. ASW's games always appealed to me more on a superficial level but I haven't actually played a SF since Turbo HD Remix and it's way more fun than I remembered. I'm also somewhat holding my own online! No doubt I'm getting matched up against other scrubs and I still lose more than I win but losing is still pretty fun when most fights are super close. When you're fighting someone so far above your level that you essentially feel like your controller stopped working, it's so fucking infuriating lol.
