Mister Jack
Yup. I spent an hour checking.
Mister Jack
Damn, my hard drive is already almost full. A terabyte really doesn't go as far as it used to, especially when a huge chunk of it is used up by system files. I can't even buy a secondary drive until Sony gets off their duff and releases the update to make it work. Guess I'll be juggling games for a while. TheMightyEthan
It's not really a full terabyte though, the drive itself is only like 825 GB, and then you can only use like 680 of that for games. I agree it's not enough though, even I've had to juggle games and I'm not someone who keeps big games sitting around on the drive forever. Did they ever fix the problem where having a USB drive plugged in when you put it to sleep causes it to crash? If they did, you could always move your PS4 games onto one of those. Mister Jack
I could do that, I suppose, but wouldn't that mean it wouldn't take advantage of the PS5's speed? It's better than nothing, I suppose, but I paid 500 bucks for this thing. I wanna take advantage of the perks of the hardware.
TheMightyEthan
If you got a USB 3.2 external SSD it wouldn't be as fast as the internal drive, but it would still be faster than the PS4 Pro. You could also use it for shuffling games faster than downloading them, by moving them back and forth between the external drive and internal drive. Mister Jack
I suppose but I think I'd rather just wait for the update, buy a 2 TB drive, and never worry about it again. That's what I did with the PS4, anyway. I'm sure games will be bigger on the PS5 but I think by the time I fill up 2 TB I'll be fine with deleting some of the older ones anyway. Thursday Next
1TB is miserly these days. CoD alone takes up circa 250GB. I don't get why Sony have not turned on the expansion slot yet. It's very frustrating.
Mister Jack
Games are definitely getting bigger but I feel like Call of Duty is an exception, not the rule. CoD games are always stupidly huge for reasons I will never understand. Even RDR2 is only half of that size.

You can see it if you ever install both versions of the same game. It's not a ton, but it's significant, an average of between 10-25% smaller for the PS5 version depending on the specific game.. But yeah, CoD is insane. If you install all the modes, Black Ops won't even fit on a launch 500GB PS4 at all.
Thursday Next
Does anyone have a code for the PS5 Firmware Beta?
TheMightyEthan
No, I'd be too scared to try it.
Mal
So a week or two ago some, some people noticed that a new minor model revision came out. Cue some shitstorm from some people with a thermal camera. Which brings us to the best tech collab to answer questions about how and if there are any differences between the models. Gamers Nexus looked at thermals with probes while Digital Foundry looked at performance. Basically a nothing burger. If you are a market for one then get whatever one you can get lol
MetalCaveman
The purple one looks so cool! Not in the market for a new controller right now though. Would like to get the black one so it matches my controller and desk, but once again, that purple one just looks so cool. Would have to see it in person though, just to be sure. TheMightyEthan
Oh man, that purple one is hawt. If I didn't already have two I'd be all over that.
CorgiShinobi
Heard the shells were going to be $55. If I had a PS5, I would be getting the red shell and purple controller.
Thursday Next
Yeah, fiddy five is waaaaay too much. I'll wait for a sale.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, they're cool, but $25 seems more like what they should be.
MetalCaveman
Might just paint mine instead then, won't be quite the same colour, but it sure as hell is going to be cheaper.
