deanb
We're starting the year in quite different ways (it was less than £4 on Amazon, figured it's worth a shake for that much)
Popular Post toxicitizen
I was gonna save up for this but I got some unexpected money for christmas, so I decided to pull the trigger early. It was tempting to wait a few months to see what the RTX 3000 cards are like but if the 2060 is any indication then they'll likely be well outside my price range anyway. This is more of a stopgap that I'm hoping will get me through at least the cross-gen phase of the next console cycle. Beyond that, I'll likely need to upgrade my CPU as well, which means an entirely new build. I may upgrade to a fancy ray-tracing card then but until then, this should let me play things at a respectable framerate again. Plus, I really wanted the upgrade before Cyberpunk comes out, just in case. I have a feeling my GTX 960 just isn't going to cut it... It's gonna be really nice to finally play Monster Hunter World at 60fps (or at least, reasonably close to it) when I jump back in with Iceborne. But I'll be tossing a coin to my Witcher, first. Definitely wanna get Witcher 3 out of the way before Cyberpunk. This card should easily max it out and maintain a locked 60fps but I think I may even be able to leave Hairworks on! 1
Mal
I've been kind of following this for a while so, yeah, I bought it as support. I'll be giving it a spin soon.
MetalCaveman
Sekiro is sold out everywhere, but I found this one for cheap, so why not?
Mal
I probably won't be getting around to it but this is in response to Durante working on the port now.

Mister Jack
"But those games are bad!" Excuse you. Those games are mediocre. Thing is, I've been on a Sonic kick recently after seeing the movie. I've already played Sonic Mania and it occurred to me that I never played these games because I never owned a Dreamcast. I had a friend with a Dreamcast back in the day and I used to look upon these games with envy because whoa! It's Sonic but in 3D! I never got around to buying them because I'm well aware now that they're pretty flawed, but back in the day these games were the tits and I got both of them for like 4 dollars so I think that's a reasonable price to pay to make my inner middle-schooler happy.
TheMightyEthan
I don't know anything about Sonic Adventure, but I fucking loved Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the Gamecube.
CorgiShinobi
Sonic Adventure DX is janky, and has Big the Cat, but it's still oddly fun. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was fun as hell back in the day. Now I can see the design flaws, mainly with Tails and Eggman's stages, but I still love it. Sonic Heroes can burn in hell. Not that it's absolutely terrible, but the gameplay is frustrating and the rail grinding is awful. I broke my Wavebird over that game because Team Chaotix had a stage where it was a lot of rail grinding. Sometimes your characters just wouldn't latch on, so there goes your fastest time! Mal
Sonic Heroes was my teenage foray back into Sonic. It wasn't good. At all. This theme song haunts my dreams.
Baconrath
Bacon is really bad at the megaman zero games part 23 steam sale :^)
Mister Jack
Normally I'd get the PC version but my laptop keeps overheating when I try to game on it and the keyboard would need to be replaced again anyway so I'm just going to go with PS4 for now and get the PC version whenever I find the funds to get a new computer because I'm sick of repairing this one.
Mister Jack
I usually don't buy two games at once unless there's a big sale going on because inevitably one of them will get neglected but seeing that I'm going to be stuck indoors for a while thanks to that bitch bastard Coronavirus...

TheMightyEthan
Got the urge to play all the main-line Zelda games after listening to a retrospective on the Kinda Funny Games podcast, and I didn't feel like staring at a horrible muddy jaggy 480p image for however long it takes to play Skyward Sword, so I got this Mayflash sensor bar for PC. It's pretty great, it syncs the controller and everything, so now I get amazing beautiful 4k Skyward Sword. Also a bunch of other Wii games. Mario Galaxy looks way better than I would have thought possible.

TheMightyEthan
It's a Wii sensor bar for PC that lets you connect your Wii-mote to the PC and play Wii games in beautiful 4k with antialiasing and anisotropic filtering instead of ugly jaggy 480p without those things.
danielpholt
Been eyeing this one for a while (it's a VR game).
TheMightyEthan
I keep wanting to get a VR headset, and then I remember that index is $1000, and I realize I don't really need a VR headset...
deanb
PSVR is a cheap entry point. A friend of mine is wanting a Switch, but they're now literally £600 (as much as a launch PS3). I'm kinda glad cos I'm trying to encourage him to instead get in some food.

We've got the PSVR + Move set up and honestly, for what we need out of a VR headset it's pretty great. Give me a brand new PC and an Index and I'm not sure I'd use it anymore than I do the budget option.
TheMightyEthan
Well Half-Life: Alyx is the thing that really keeps making me want one, and can't play that on a PSVR. *Edit - Also, the PSVR isn't exactly cheap, and it's one of those things where the "cheap" ones are expensive enough that I'm like "if I'm going to spend that much I want to get a good one" but the good ones are too expensive for me to want them.
