Games You've Bought Episode MMXX: Revenge of the Backlog

With not having to go into work and having light remote work responsibilities, I've found myself with a little more time. So...

Doom Eternal!

I got it from Green Man Gaming for 18% off on the Deluxe version. Downside is it's a Bethesda product key, but from what I've heard you still need a Bethesda account no matter the platform, so I guess I skipped a step by using it directly through them. Just another account to add to the pile, right? Either way, I'm playing Doom Eternal when I'm not living it up on my island in New Horizons.

The gameplay is similar but also different from the prior game. I've had to use the chainsaw far more often than in Doom 2016. Not to mention all the Glory Kills (name?) where I can get health back. I feel like once you get the hang of it, it has some crazy vertical movement to it. I've only done the first level, but I know I'll rip and tear until it is done!

Haven't bought ( or played, really) a game in a couple months, so I figured I just wasn't going to get Resident Evil 3 at launch. Then yesterday I figured what the hell and played the demo. Yeah lol, I don't know who I thought I was kidding.

Gonna be weird as fuck playing this in the middle of a global viral pandemic, though. I'm honestly a little surprised they didn't delay it considering how sensitive people tend to be about these things. Smaller, more isolated tragedies are often enough to postpone even just a trailer for a violent game. But nah, let's launch this game about a literal deadly viral outbreak right now! ?

Ended up refunding the pre-order. I'm having a hard time justifying paying full price for games these days and while the review scores don't really bother me (80 is by no means low lmao), what I've been hearing about the shorter campaign (and there's only one), plus Nemesis being mostly relegated to scripted encounters, makes me feel like this is one where it might be wiser to wait for a sale.

I'd love to take that money and put it towards Doom instead but, unless I want a Bethesda launcher key (lol), then I'm locked into paying 80$ on Steam. So yeah, more backlog while I wait for sales, I guess! Maybe Humble Choice on friday will have something interesting...

Man of Medan is on sale for $12.75 at GMG, the lowest it's ever been, so I finally picked it up. It just needs to get in line behind Skyward Sword and P5R (and Animal Crossing, but I've always been planning for that to be a side game while I play other main games).

You should play it before it starts getting too light in the evenings.

I knew I hadn't played it, but was surprised I didn't own it. I still may do somewhere but it is so cheap on Switch at the moment (£2ish) that I won't be too upset if I see it somewhere else in my library. Especially as Switch is realistically the only place it stands a chance of getting played.

Speaking of eShop, I got Drawful 2 for all of $0.09 on the Switch!

Then my fiancée got stuck home as a coworkers was in contact with someone with COVID-19. So I got Drawful 2 for FREE on Steam so I can screen share on Discord.

And rather than just one game, I went ahead and got Jackbox Party Pack 6 for $20.99! I don't know why, of all places, the Party Packs aren't on sale directly on Steam. GMG has them on discount, but not for much. However, if you go directly to Jackbox Games, they're selling Steam codes for all the Party Packs for cheap.

If things go well on Discord, I'll look into 5 and then 4. I don't know if I would dip into the older packs, and if anything, I might bite the bullet and buy Quiplash 2 individually if people want to play it. EDIT: I see it's not available yet until "Spring 2020," so whenever that is...

I got FFXII on the Switch because it's on sale. It will no doubt arrive "eventually". Means I now own it on PS2, PS4 and Switch...and now I'm not sure if I also own the Steam version.

It's pretty solid game and I think would work quite well on Switch. It's a shame that FFX/X-2 on Switch is only physical for FFX with the X-2 being a digital download.
