Quarantine Multiplayer & Chat

I'd be down for some Jackbox. If it's as good as I've heard I might buy a pack or two too, since this quarantine has also interrupted my siblings' and my game nights and that might be a good way to get them going again.

They're finally on sale directly on Steam, and at a better discount than when I got them earlier this month. ?

Of the Party Packs I've played, I enjoy 4 the most. 6 is mostly great and I haven't seen people play all of 5. Mostly the "Patently Stupid" game.

Drawful 2 is fun, but I feel like it loses its charm if people aren't talking. Quiplash 2 is a blast, and I believe it's part of Party Pack 3.

(And sorry for not joining you this morning, Ethan. I was just checking out the sales on the Steam app.)

Ethan has also suggested Cards Against Humanity, which could be fun and scales up a decent amount.

Seems we'd go with this one: https://allbad.cards/ which is made by a bungie developer (hence the discussion from Destiny)

I don't know if there's a good time for everyone? Destiny we've usually been doing at 7:30pm British summer time, but I think that's mid-day in american-times which is more suitable for weekends.

Oh, nice. Actually looked to see if there was an online version of the game and couldn't find anything, although I didn't look that hard. I've been playing Jackbox with friends every friday night since the quarantine began so this might be a fun alternative to mix things up.

Yeah, I'd like to try them out while they're still on the Steam sale, so I can get some if they're as fun as everyone says.

I was looking at the "Steam Remote Play" thing earlier as well which lets you play couch co-op games over the net (so like Human Fall Flat, or Gang Beasts and such). I think the game needs to have been updated to support it, so I'll have to delve a bit deeper.

But yeah, couple Jackbox games on something portable like a laptop or Switch is fab to have as you can hook it up to a TV and as long as everyone has a phone or tablet they can play. Majority scale up to 8 players which is usually more than most consoles will support on controllers (and even if they do that's £400 worth of controllers). I'll usually have Fibbage on over xmas or other large gatherings (I imagine for you guys that would include Thanksgiving too).

Currently on sale on Switch https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/The-Jackbox-Party-Pack-2-1252975.html (does mean no/difficult online streaming)

(also in bundle on sale on Steam, but like it's a bundle of the bundles so minimum spend of £45 https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/1792/The_Jackbox_Party_Trilogy/ )

Wouldn't mind giving the CAH a shot. My only major issue with the streaming was it put voice and game audio at pretty much same level regardless of the Windows mixers and I could have done with voice taking precedence. CAH can last a bit longer per round too (though Jackbbox with shorter rounds does make it easier to drop in and out).

@deanb You probably know this, but Discord lets you turn up the volume of individual users too, so if you turned everyone up to 200% it might help overcome the game audio.

*Edit - Also, on the strength of that I bought Drawful 2, Jackbox 3, and Jackbox 6, so I have a few games in 6 that dean doesn't.

Yeah, while you can adjust the Master Volume in the Party Pack for all games, you'll still get that one person who's either too far away from their mic or just has a crappy connection. I did not know about the individual volume, so that's a big thanks, Ethan!

I played Party Pack 2 & 3 last night with a group of 7. I didn't play all the games in the packs, but here are my impressions:

  • Fibbage 2 - I've played Fibbage 3 before this, but as far as I could tell the main difference was the aesthetic. It's worth going back to even if you've got the sequel.
  • Bidiots - Fun game, I'm surprised there isn't a sequel.
  • Quiplash XL - It's good, just prefer the sequel.
  • Trivia Murder Party - Once you've played the sequel, this one feels bare. The sequel has a lot of charm and variety.
  • Guesspionage - Pretty fun as it's all guessing and everyone gets involved in each question.
  • Quiplash 2 - SO DANG GOOD!

Speaking of, Quiplash 3 is coming in Party Pack 7 later this year! ?

While I still haven't played Party Pack 5, I would still say 4 is my favorite. Fibbage 3, Survive the Internet, Civic Doodle, and Monster Seeking Monster are all great fun. Bracketeering is the one game that barely gets touched in that pack. It's alright, but the others far outshine it.

Anyone up for something this Friday/Saturday? Could do some Destiny 2 (maybe try that gambit mode?), or something else, I don't have the Party Pack stuff though, so someone else would have to host that one. :P

Somewhat related, has anyone here played GTFO? Watching some videos of it, looks interesting, but also hard as hell, only four players though.

I'm down for stuff tonight. Tomorrow evening I should also be fine (though due a white goods delivery at some point). Down for either some 3-player Red War campaign (Ethan and I have held off touching that until we get you on, since you're new to it), or some 6-player MP like Gambit or Crucible. We can all suck together.

If looking to do large group then then CAH might be ideal (plus tbh I've not played CAH in months, and kinda miss it a bit).
