With Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition just now out, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 right around the corner, it's a great time for fighting games. Who else here is a Street Fighter? Who's your favorite character? I've been working on getting to C with every character in SSFIV, and I'm finding I have some unexpected favorites- like Hakan, Makoto, and Abel.

I used to play Abel in Vanilla, but he just doesn't seem to cut it in Super...situations where the enemy will be in CQC against you seem slimmer, the newer character's aren't reeeeally about that or if they are they're just plain better than he is. It's a shame, I fuckin love Abel.

 

I wish Hakan didn't seem so...useless. He's interesting as fuuuuuu but he's -so bad- Q_Q

 

I play w/ Viper, Abel, Ryu/Ken, Cody and fuck I forget his name, the elegant boxer, as well the occasional Sakura. I'm ranked B, I believe (might be C?) with both cody and the elegant boxer and I didn't play enough with anyone else on super to really rank anywhere. Oh, I started to pick up el fuerte for fun even though he's terrible, because he's just so much fun. But he often gets wrecked...I think i'm ranked C with him.

I main Sakura and Cammy in SSF4. I main Cammy in every other Sf game that has Cammy. Im not very good so I dont play online often.

Dudley is the name you're lookin' fer. But yeah, Abel can get pretty screwed- all of his moves have so much windup time, you usually get slammed before you can land them. Though his QCB+HK is a great distance closer/anti-air, that usually catches people offguard.

 

Speaking of catching people offguard... Hakan, man. I think he's GREAT. Underpowered? Yes, but you'd never know it, because no one online has ANY idea how to play against him. I just wish his 360+K wasn't so picky about hitboxes. Makoto really seems to disarm people as well, which is weird because she's an incredibly straightforward character.

 

Viper I love, but I can't get into her groove- I'm just completely terrible. Ryu/Ken/Gouken/Akuma I got to C pretty quickly, and now I pretty much never play, because they just don't feel very interesting to me. Seth is a lot of fun, but he can also be super frustrating- he has really low stamina, so you can play much better than the other guy, but still lose because Seth takes so much damage from everything, and deals so little. And charge characters- pretty much all of them- I just can't do. I do alright with Bison sometimes, but I just can't do the motions reliably. Maybe it's because I don't have a fight stick- you'd think that with 120 hours logged on SSFIV, I'd invest in a stick, but I haven't yet.

Well, that's the beauty of SSFIV- the Ranked matchmaking is really, really good. Like, after half a dozen matches, you are practically guaranteed to be playing people at your skill level. It's the first fighting game I've ever actually gotten into- seriously, I couldn't do a Shoryuken before I picked this game up- but the Challenge Mode plus the awesome matchmaking means I'm finally only kinda terrible, as opposed to completely terrible.

 

EDIT: Searching Google for a new avatar (since this one looks all jaggy resized), I ran across Cody+Guy Rule 34.

I got SFIV for the PC. It was hard trying to play, since I had no controller (and thus making it hard for me to execute combos) but I still enjoyed it a lot.
