Games You've Bought 2021 - Let's try this 20's thing again

I feel like there must be some kind of exclusivity deal between Sony and Atlus we don't know about. Something like "only Sony consoles can have the most recent mainline game" or something. Or if not an official deal at least some sort of gentleman's agreement to maintain good relations between the two companies. Sony does push Persona pretty hard in their advertising.

I wouldn't put that kind of bullshit past Sony but I also wouldn't put it past Atlus to just be dumb. Sometimes they really come across like they took a few pages from the Square-Enix playbook.

Although, to be fair, they still have like 5 more Persona "projects" to announce for the 25th anniversary celebrations. The last announcement in late 2022 is probably going to be Persona 6 and I'm sure at least two of them will be some completely pointless bullshit like a clothing line or a pencil set. But surely they have at least a couple more games to announce?

I've been wanting to upgrade to a 120Hz VRR TV for my gaming setup for a while, and then this one dropped in price on Amazon, and with my Amazon card I get to break it up over 18 months 0% interest, and it has a better panel than my current one so I get a sharper picture, better colors, and better brightness.

:bun-YES:

Okay, so scratch that, further research revealed that model doesn't do full 4k in 120hz mode, it interlaces the frames, which wouldn't be the end of the world but I'm trying to future proof here so I don't want any issues like that. So then I went to the next model up, which does do full 4k120. But then there was another that was only a little more expensive but better still, and a couple more rounds of that process and now I'm getting this:

48" LG C1 OLED

Full 4k120, every kind of VRR there is (HDMI Forum, Freesync, Gsync), it'll be great.

Let me know how that goes. I'm gonna be in the market for a new TV around the 55" mark in March next year.

Will do. My only concern is that modern OLEDs can't get the same full-scene brightness that LEDs can, but I think all the other benefits offset it. (Well, it also doesn't do 8k, but considering I can already barely tell the difference between 1440p and 4k I don't think that's an issue...)

*Edit - Also next year LG is releasing a new line of OLEDs that have higher full-scene brightness, but I anticipate them being at the prestige pricing tier.

Been over a year since I got on the list and it'll finally be mines. Maybe I should look into replacing my tower? I never thought about getting a new PC since this was near impossible to get at (inflated) MSRP. RAM prices seems fine and CPU too...

Genshin box lol

Edit: Okay, it's DDR5 RAM that are hard to find.

Yup. Been keeping an eye out for the past few weeks and it's all either out of stock or insanely priced. It's pretty obvious there's no way I'll be able to get the Corsair sticks I want anyway, so I'm just gonna go with a DDR4 board when I order my parts soon.

Oh damn, DDR5 slot isn't the same as DDR4... guess I'll be sticking with my old CPU and mobo for now. I just can't really be assed to swap out mobo twice. Guess my CPU will be the bottleneck for now. I guess I can get next year's model (might even be an AMD if trends are correct?) in like late 2022 to 2023.

Electronic Arts - It Takes Two- Official Gameplay Trailer - Steam 뉴스

I was originally planning to just play this on Gamepass at some point but 20 bucks on the steam sale is a pretty good deal and the friend pass I can use to get my friend to play it with me for free made it worth the purchase. Plus, I just like Mr. "Fuck the Oscars" and his passion and I wanna support his game.

FF7R EPISODE INTERmission (New Story Content Featuring Yuffie)

Also got the Yuffie DLC on the PSN sale along with the free PS5 upgrade.

I did the thing!

I also ordered some extra mounting screws from Corsair earlier this week to make the CPU Cooler compatible with the CPU socket. I thought I was being smart by ordering in advance but now I'm kinda worried everything else is gonna get here before them. 😅

I was tempted to throw in an extra 500GB SSD just so I wouldn't have to nuke my current Windows install when setting it up but decided against it. I'm starting to have second thoughts about that...

edit: Fuck it!

Around 2K, not including the case I got last month. Turns out a brand new i9 CPU is pretty expensive! 😅

I don't mind, though. After spending half a decade on a budget machine that struggled to hit 60fps in most AAA games, I wanted a killer machine now that I can afford it.

Lol, and that is why I decided to go with a Series X instead of upgrading my PC. I assume you already have a good graphics card?

Lol kinda? I have a recent graphics card but it's a budget model without any RTX cores. I only got it 2 years ago so I can't really justify upgrading already. That's why I went big on the CPU while I wait for the RTX 40 series.

And it's not like I HAD to spend 2k dude, come on. For the price of the motherboard and CPU alone I could've built a decent budget gaming PC. As a matter of fact, that's pretty much what my previous build was. Although I'll grant you that GPU prices alone kinda make this harder at the moment.

I'm just sick of compromising on visuals and still not hitting 60fps. My goal with this build is to be able to keep a high framerate even past the point when devs inevitably start pushing visuals again and games go back to 30fps on consoles.
