Oh no I understand, I wasn't trying to criticize, I know that even a Series X can't come close to touching a good gaming PC, so I get why someone would go the PC route, I just meant the cost isn't worth it to me personally.

God damn, and that doesn't even include a GPU. I hate how expensive PC components have become. On the plus side, that will definitely last you for a good, long while. I'm not so sure console games will go back to 30 FPS anytime soon. We're hitting a point of diminishing returns with graphic fidelity and now that Series X and PS5 gamers are getting used to 60 FPS performance options in their games (and as far as I can tell it's the vastly preferred choice) they might not be so willing to go back to 30 again. To be honest I've tried the performance and graphics options back to back in several games and I can't even really notice the difference.

Yeah, lots of games are 1800p-2160p30 in fidelity and ~1440p60 in quality, and reconstruction algorithms are getting so good now that 1440p is barely distinguishable from full 4k, so the extra frames are definitely worth it.

Oh I could've easily slashed almost 500 bucks if I'd gone with an i7 (or an older gen CPU) because the motherboard would've also been cheaper. But I figured I'd get all the extra horsepower I can get to make the most out of my 240hz monitor (which, incidentally, I sent back to Samsung for repairs like 3 weeks ago now...)

And yeah, it should last me quite a bit longer. My last two builds I went with a mid-range CPU and the CPU is where I ultimately ended up running into issues. On my old one it was Assassin's Creed III that ran like a slideshow despite my CPU meeting the requirements (I haven't trusted Ubisoft since lol) and right now my CPU is bottlenecking my GTX 1660 pretty hard. I can't wait to see how much more I'll be able to get out of it once it's in my new PC. Just to give you an idea, I saw basically no change in performance going from 1080p to 1440p. That shouldn't happen when you almost double the resolution lol.

Also, I forgot that consoles have made performance/quality modes standard now. I guess at least people will have the option to keep 60fps.

I think I should be set now until Windjammers 2 and KoF15

Hot Wheels looks super fun. My nephew got it for Christmas and I think once it hits a more appealing price point, I'll be jumping in with him.

Not played a Far Cry game since I finished Blood Dragon, but I've got this sudden urge to blow shit up and upgrade my hunting bow (they have that right?) so I guess this is the game I'm playing for the next 4-5 weeks.
