I hulked out (due to previous encounter with gama rays) and started tossing shit over and stuff. It's bad enough putting up with babies in stores and restaurants... but in MOVIE THEATRES?! Hot Heart Posted May 11, 2013 Report Share Posted May 11, 2013 Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows I saw the first one not long after it first came out and actually quite liked it. It was a fresh, exciting take on the characters and a very entertaining, if only slightly flawed, watch. Downey Jr. and Law make for a really good double act. This one maintains a lot of those elements to great effect, though at times I think it goes a little bit far with the stylistic touches. It was good and I think the ending was well done in a Sherlock style, even if it was a little too clever for its own good when it came to minor details. Just a shame it was lacking in its amount of Rachel McAdams, and Noomi Rapace's character never really made an impact. I do hope they make another though. deanb Posted May 12, 2013 Report Share Posted May 12, 2013 The Time Traveller's Wife Apart from "it's genetic" the time travelling is never fully explained, but that's the only downside to the time travelling in the film. it's rules were consistent enough, and the age of Henry is made fairly obvious if he's a younger, really young, or older version. I'm sure it wouldn't work as fast as it did in the movie, it would take time for the room to fill with gas to the right level, but I wonder if it would work at all. It probably helps that we were all big fans of the anime back in high school, though. Here's hoping for a sequel based on the Shishio arc. That would be just about the best thing ever. TheMightyEthan Posted May 16, 2013 Report Share Posted May 16, 2013 OMG, not the same thing at all but it makes me think of in TDKR the scene where Alfred is telling Bruce Reveal hidden contents that Rachel picked Harvey over him there was this little girl who had just come back from the concession stand or wherever who had raced her friend up the steps and she was sitting just behind and to the right of me and wheezing and failing to suppress laughter and it really ruined the impact of that scene. Film was pretty good, still not fully "Star Trek" but much closer than the last film, and lots of issues ironed out. Less plotholes too (to the point where most of the plot is easily guessed). I kinda like how to further cement "this is London" at the start they have a (minor-ish) Doctor Who actor in. Reveal hidden contents Along with the whole "bad guy is british" thing. Which is it even a spoiler than Cumberbatch is Khan? He practically says as such right at the start when not answering "what is your name?". I liked Nemoy-Spocks response to being asked about Khan. "Vow of not telling you the future, but in Khan's case I'll make an exception". The film did lead to a discussion/argument in the pub on whether the Vengeance would be able to fire phasers (which travel slightly sub-light speed) in warp.
