TheFlyingGerbil
Anyone read the book the film is based on? It's cheap at the moment on Kindle but had mixed reviews
Mr W Phallus
By book, are you referring to Let The Right One in Gerbil?
TheFlyingGerbil
Yeah, sorry, I could have made that clearer. EDIT: by that I mean I'd like opinions from people who've read Let the right one in by lindqvist. It's only £1.01 though so I may just get it. Hot Heart
Sniped my post right in there to shift us onto a new page and confuse the subject. (That's so money)
Mr W Phallus
Well I wouldn't recommend it on the strength of its prose (its in translation anyway to be fair) but I quite enjoyed it. My sister actually preferred it to the film. Be prepared for some extremely graphic scenes, I'd be tempted to say it borders on the gratuitous at times. I'd also point out that I read it before seeing the film, so I don't know if knowing the general plot already might diminish your enjoyment of the novel. EDIT: That first bit sounds a bit harsh - the writing style wasn't anything special, it wasn't particularly bad though. TheFlyingGerbil
I keep starting to watch the film Swingers, but I just find everyone in it so annoying I can't get through it.
Hot Heart
Yeah, I guess it depends on whether you like the actors or not. I like Vince Vaughn but Jon Favreau I was skeptical about (considering he wrote it too). In the end, I warmed to it though. It's a nice little (predictable) tale. TheFlyingGerbil
maybe I should give it one more try if I ever spot it on TV again.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Swingers was far worse for the first few years after it was released. You had all kinds of douchebags acting like they were the characters from the movie.
Hot Heart
Saw Source Code. It was good, but the ending felt a little...stupid.
Mr W Phallus
I quite liked how it ended positively, and it felt like it gave you something to think about after the movie with the whole alternate realities thing without trying to be overly clever or complicated. I suppose in another film I'd probably be more negative about it, but I find it hard to criticise Source Code simply because, despite the fact it's just a popcorn flick, it's head and shoulders above most of the shit the film industry churns out for mass consumption. Is it stupid to expect films like Inception and Source Code to be the par for Hollywood blockbusters? Well I guess it is when they can make so much money out of absolute rubbish, but I reserve the right to be indignant about it.
Hot Heart
It was a very 'Hollywood' ending in a way. Seems like there would be a bunch of problems too but I guess you could say that of any film if you scrutinise them. Plus, it is still a Hollywood film and it probably wouldn't have been made without certain changes (script was on the 'Black List' for years). Still, it was good. Mr W Phallus
I'm definitely looking forward to more Duncan Jones in the future, he's showed his arty, small scale credentials with Moon but also proved he can handle a larger budget. Hot Heart
Just finished The Big Sleep. It was very good indeed.

King Jimmeh
Thor. Very good Summer Superhero movie. Few bits I didn't like, but overall well enjoyed. Next stop, Captain America =D
Mister Jack
Wait, what?
CorgiShinobi
Wait, what? This is purely an assumption, but I imagine King Jimmeh is/was in Australia. Down under, Thor premiered April 21.
toxicitizen
Lately I've been watching some of the DC animated movies, like Green Lantern: First Flight, JLA: New Frontier, Batman/Superman: Public Enemies etc... So far, not a single one of them was bad. I still can't believe how insanely better they are than the shit ones Marvel put out. I haven't seen Hulk Vs., but the two Ultimate Avengers movie were such a bore. I think the least boring one I've seen was the Doctor Strange one, and it wasn't that great. I've still got Batman/Superman: Apocalypse and All-Star Superman to watch, and a friend urged me to also get Batman: Under The Red Hood. I expect those will be excellent as well. Oh and they're currently making Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns! O_O It's a good time be a fan of Batman and cartoons!
Hot Heart
The Constant Gardener. Very 'heavy' film, but good too.
Mister Jack
Under the Red Hood is probably the best DCAU movie they've ever done.
Mr W Phallus
They're making Dark Knight Returns as well? I'd imagine they're going to change the art style quite a bit for that. Makes me think, as much as I like the Sin City film, a black and white Sin City cartoon would be amazing.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Under the Red Hood is probably the best DCAU movie they've ever done. Disagree. Justice League: The New Frontier is better.

I haven't seen Under The Red Hood yet, but New Frontier is my favorite so far The second JLA one, though, Crisis on Two Earths? I thought that was the weakest. Strangelove
Under the red hood is the best dc cartton ive seen. Crisis was pretty good thanks to the awesome james woods voicing owlman.
