Mister Jack
It was pretty damn funny. I wasn't sure what to expect since every Coen movie I'd seen was either a drama or a really black comedy, but Lebowski is just endlessly quotable. Mr W Phallus
I've wanted to see Enter The Void for a while now, but I get the feeling that my laptop screen - or even my pretty outdated TV back home - won't do it the justice it deserves. CorgiShinobi
I think everyone, no matter who you may be, has to see The Big Lebowski. And yes, I'm beginning to think I'm a huge Jeff Bridges fan.

Popular Post toxicitizen
So I watched Big Lebowski. Didn't see much special in it. Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man! Edited March 23, 2011 by FLD
MasterDex
Perfectly appropriate quote, FLD! I'd wager you would have though more if it, Dean, had it not been built up by so many people. It was like when I went and saw Inception after hearing everyone rave at it. I was like "Yeah, it's good but it's not fantastic." I just couldn't get the big draw and felt a bit let down that it didn't meet my bloated expectations. The Big Lebowski is a classic for sure. If you're a weed man, I'd suggest watching it stoned - best way to watch it in my opinion.
deanb
See there was this feeling that it was meant to be watched stoned. But yeah I watched it and it wasn't outright bad or anything but there's nothing that would compel me to watch it again.
Hot Heart
The fact that it's highly quotable helps a lot.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
finally saw the fighter. He fought people HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW? I went to see that movie three times within a week (people I know don't like watching movies alone, so I usually take the bullet, as long as they pay for the ticket), and that song got stuck in my head. I really like the movie, though, so it's not that bad of a bullet. It's just three times in a row... uggh.
Strangelove
I went through all 3 Pirates movies this week for some reason. And ive got to say, I kind of liked At World's End. Its pretty good once you get over it being almost 3 hours long, kind of confusing, and the 40 ft tall black woman. Im definitely seeing the new one. CorgiShinobi
The whole singing thing at the beginning of At World's End kinda put me off. I got back into the movie quick, but... it was kinda surreal.

Mr W Phallus
I was going to have a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon the other night but in the end I only watched the first one, which is still as good as ever, even if I've reached the point where I've seen it so many times I can't help but notice every small plot hole or logical fallacy. After that I watched L.A. Confidential for the first time; it's an excellent film. Oh I also watched a Chinese film on Friday called Blind Shaft, which was good as well. Mister Jack
I can't bring myself to watch Sucker Punch. I normally don't let metacritic make my decisions for me, but when a movie has a 30 it's hard to imagine how that many people could all be that wrong. I'll rephrase that. I can't bring myself to pay money to watch Sucker Punch.

I still intend to watch the others, I seem to remember the third one being half decent at times. It's still a shame that the sequels didn't live up to the first, because the concept, had it been fully realised, could have been amazing. And despite everything, I can't help getting excited for the new one. At least they got rid of Bloom and Knightly already.
Hot Heart
I think the new one might be quite good (I think it's at least partially based off the book that 'inspired' Monkey Island). The other two had great visuals and music but they just went on and on without a decent sense of pace or adventure. I think I'm just a little over-bitter with them because it was when the third was coming out that my friend said we should go see it and, because I hadn't seen the second, he lent me the DVD. He'd told me they were good, but I foolishly left watching the second until the same day as we saw the third. So it was too late to back out and I wound up seeing two shit and overlong films in one day. Felt like such a waste too. Mr W Phallus
Ah well I can understand since I only managed to get through the good one in my 'marathon', watching the second two together can't be great - especially if your wallet is taking a hit. I loved Moon, and I'm excited to see what Duncan Jones has put together this time.

I can't bring myself to pay money to watch Sucker Punch. I had free passes from a friend so I didn't pay. Dumb & Dumber is probably my favorite comedy ever and it has a 39 on Metacritic. I was expecting Sucker Punch to be terrible based on the advertising (my wife really wanted to see it) but I was pleasantly surprised.
