CorgiShinobi
Under the red hood is the best dc cartton ive seen. Crisis was pretty good thanks to the awesome james woods voicing owlman. My opinion as well.
toxicitizen
Watched Superman/Batman: Apocalypse tonight. It was good, but talk about a misleading title! They might as well have called it "Supergirl Begins". I think next time I'll give Supes a rest and will watch Under the Red Hood, keeping All-Star for last. Haven't managed to find a torrent for the Wonder Woman movie yet. For those interested, the upcoming movies are (according to wikipedia) Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. An anthology kinda thing, made up of several shorter stories. Coming out June 7th! Batman: Year One, set to come out in the fall. JLA: Doom, based on the Tower of Babel story arc. and The Dark Knight Returns, which was only confirmed to be in production about two weeks ago. So I imagine this one won't be coming out anytime soon Personally, I'd love for them to eventually make a Green Lantern one about the Sinestro Corps War. I read the story arc recently, and it was pretty damn epic! Edited April 29, 2011 by FLD
Mister Jack
Darkseid would really like to tell you about his omega beams and the ashes that they reduce things to.
Strangelove
They drew superman so gay in that movie. It was fucking distracting. Edited April 29, 2011 by Strangelove
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Ichi the Killer. It's like a comedy, a horror movie and an action movie all rolled into one messed up movie. I almost threw up during the tongue part, but Ichi himself is rather hilarious (except for his obsession with rape, which I found to be extremely disturbing). Mr W Phallus
The Host. Got a bit messy towards the end but in general a fun monster movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and avoids cheap shocks. Nice to see the monster in broad daylight and long enough to actually see what it looks like for once. CGI was impressive for a production of its size as well. toxicitizen
Alright, I just finished watching Under The Red Hood, and I'm gonna have to agree with you all and say it's the best animated DC movie. Considering all the praise, I had pretty high expectations, and it didn't meet them, it shattered them. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that it's the best Batman movie not starring Christian Bale, in my opinion. Oh and that Batman/Nightwing team-up at the beginning was just awesome. Now I really want either a Nightwing movie, or another Batman movie in which Nightwing plays a bigger part. Gyaruson
Source Code is my favorite film of 2011 so far. It's an interesting take on a thoroughly-trodden genre. The ending, well, didn't make sense. But I don't allow that to taint the previous one and a half hours of a film I was enjoying anymore. I also saw Water For Elephants. It was good-but-not-great kind of storytelling. Everything just felt, incomplete. Not to sound like a snob or anything, but there were so many times where I wanted to scream out "Why did they choose to shoot "X" scene this way?!" For a film that tells the story of such a foreign idea to its audience, I just thought that it could have used a little more.... magic. Not like, Harry Potter magic, but movie magic. Where was the awe and mystery? No one has ever run away with the circus. No one was alive back then. Use that as an opportunity to really make the film stand out visually. It was very by the book, which I feel was a disservice to the story. Also, Twilight boy sucks balls. I mean, I know the studio only hired him for his box office appeal, but you have the incredible Reese Witherspoon and Christof Waltz, and then you hire Edward Cullen to play the protagonist? Such a bitch move.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Ichi the Killer. It's like a comedy, a horror movie and an action movie all rolled into one messed up movie. I almost threw up during the tongue part, but Ichi himself is rather hilarious (except for his obsession with rape, which I found to be extremely disturbing). I love this movie. Definitely one of my favorites for the goofy way it ties together all of these elements. I don't think many people realize how much of a black comedy it is even though one of the earliest scenes is a guy slipping on a disemboweled body... then again, shit like that is only funny to some people. Also, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time I remember really enjoying. I need to re-watch it.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Saw Mortal Kombat again. Cheesy as hell, but I still love it. Then again, Mortal Kombat's recent release made me realize that I just love Mortal Kombat in general, so I may be a little biased.
TCP
Caught up on two of the Oscar films from last year, The King's Speech and The Fighter. The King's Speech was the stronger of the two, but I liked them both. Both had great acting. Today my girlfriend and I are watching the extended Fellowship of the Ring. So long, but so, so, very good. She's never seen the complete trilogy, so I was thinking we'll Two Towers next Sunday and Return of the King the Sunday after. Gyaruson
Don't worry, Toshi. I saw it too. It was absolutely Chris Bridges, but in a mindless, fun-at-the-theatre kind of way.
Mr W Phallus
(Re)watched the Bourne Identity. Not sure if it was just because we talked through a lot of it, so I wasn't giving it my full attention, but I was slightly disappointed with it. Not enough to deny the fact it's a great film though. Thursday Next
Saw Thor last night. Really enjoyed. Film has a great sense of humour and there's some classic lines in it. I can't wait to get back from a drunken night out and announce "we drank, we fought, we made our ancestors proud."

SomTervo
I thought Sucker Punch was bruuuuutal. It was like, a pretty good idea, with a decent story, but written by a 6 year old, and edited/directed by a 4 year old. The opening scene, which I thought was really interesting at first, is now my go-to example of "how to completely fuck up a story and make it really, really boring simply by editing it badly". The music was often retarded, and it dreewww out simple scenes and made them boring. Four of us went to see it- one had a look of extreme concern all the way through, two laughed every few minutes at how awfully it was written/done, and I was just facepalming all the time. Goddamn stupid. But the story and everything would have actually worked if they had just told it better! -Speaking of DC comic films, me and my flatmates just watched AllStar Superman the other week. The comic is one of the best things I've ever read- on par with (maybe better than) the Dark Knight Returns et al.- and the film was actually pretty good. For those who haven't heard of AllStar Superman- it's basically a story that progresses Superman's story, for the first time in the 70-odd years since his inception. Basic intro (no spoilers): on a trip to the Sun, Superman is overexposed to solar radiation, which overloads his cells and causes them to begin dying. These are the last days Superman, his powers are tripled at least, but he is dying, progressively faster- and he performs the greatest Herculean feats of his career, while he ties up all the loose ends of his life. The comic tells everything, especially the Herculean tasks part, better, but the film was still good! One of the best stories I've ever read, surprisingly emotional, feels like a great Greek myth written in the present day. -Also- A Town Called Panic. Hilarious Belgian animated movie, described as 'Toy Story on absinthe' by one reviewer. If anyone's seen the funny Cravendale Milk adverts with the toys battling for milk, usually shouting 'miiiiilk'- that's an advert made by the people who did the show, and now the film. Really good stuff. I recommend. Edited May 5, 2011 by kenshi_ryden
Mister Jack
I saw Thor. Pretty good, but the god damn projector cut out during the post credits scene and that was a huge disappointment.
SanaEquiesterer
I saw Thor on Friday. Anthony Hopkins was excellent as Odin. This was the first time I've seen a 3D optional film in 2D instead. The stylized action sequences on Bifrost were confusing enough on their own, but they were made worse with the odd perspectives that made it obvious they were optimized for 3D. I have to remind myself that I'm watching a superhero flick sometimes. When the suits got involved and they were driving Acuras, I thought, "What? The American government wouldn't drive imports, even if Acura styling totally looks the part." Then there was mention of Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D. and I recalled the Marvel universe. The only other creative decision I didn't agree with was the modern looking make of Asgardian armour, which gave a look of medieval times with machine shops. During the film I found myself wondering if 300 created a quote with as deep an impression in pop culture as Star Wars has. The two times that the line, "This is madness" was used during the film, I could hear people quietly saying, "No, this is Sparta!"
