Chewblaha
X-Men: First Class. Kind of amazed that Marvel actually let the words "Go fuck yourself" be put into a movie. Don't get me wrong. I loved that scene. Suited that character perfectly. Though I'm just amazed the Disney-owned Marvel allowed that to be put into a movie where they know tons of kids will watch it. In the same vein, Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Man franchise, so they could have Spider-Man also say fuck.
Mister Jack
X-men: First Class. I have to admit that at first I thought I was going to hate it, but I can admit when I am wrong, and it turned out to be an excellent film. Of course, if you're looking for strict adherence to the comic you'll be frothing at the mouth.
Hot Heart
The Hangover 2. It started off a bit slow but got a lot better. Had a lot of laugh out loud moments and Zach Galifianakis steals the show (again). Couldn't say it was any better or worse than the first either. Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Super 8 was absolutely amazing. That Filmdrunk reviewer must have been drunk when he went to see it.
BrainHurtBoy...2
Lens Flare: The Movie a.k.a. Super 8 Hrm... I guess this movie was better than OK, but it wasn't great. The movie seemed to take all the worst parts of an 80s era Spielberg film and the worst parts of modern day Alien movies and put them together. It was executed fairly well, but the payoff did NOT match the payoff. The first half of the movie was excellent, but the second half... no. It was better than okay, but not good. So I'll stick it in this thread. Edit: Also, what the FUCK?! The thing that pissed me off the most in this movie is that Super 8 cameras CANNOT RECORD SOUND. How the FUCK could they have missed this fact when making the movie?! It's fucking ridiculous! How the FUCK could they have missed this fact when making the movie?! It's fucking ridiculous! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I know for a fact that J.J. Abrams used to shoot movies on Super 8 as a kid, so I'm pretty sure he knew that. They probably ignored that fact for creative reasons. It's not that surprising, really. Anyway, just watched The Man Who Wasn't There. Like every other Coen Bros. movies I've seen, it was strange but very good. The more of their movies I see, the more I like them as filmmakers. I really need to watch True Grit soon. Also got Barton Fink that's been sitting on my HDD for a few months.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Super 8 was absolutely amazing. That Filmdrunk reviewer must have been drunk when he went to see it. From my experience being drunk only makes movies better. In theater anyways.
Mr W Phallus
Edit: Also, what the FUCK?! The thing that pissed me off the most in this movie is that Super 8 cameras CANNOT RECORD SOUND. How the FUCK could they have missed this fact when making the movie?! It's fucking ridiculous! They have a microphone to record the sound. That thing on the wooden pole. (I haven't seen the actual movie, just the trailers, so I guess it's not impossible for them to have had sound playing when only the video footage could have been playing but I really doubt they would make that mistake). Can
The credits short was great (I had a smile throughout the whole thing like a sodding idiot). They apparently shot that using real Super 8 film.

Slagathorian
Sadly, the last GOOD movie I saw was probably Oliver Stone's Alexander. (And I watch a LOT of movies) Edited June 14, 2011 by Slagathorian

Not only was that a long time ago, but thats just not a very good movie. Did you watch the regular or super extended version? Neither is better than the other, im just curious. BrainHurtBoy...2
Yeah, Alexander was shit. I get it, he was gay, and Oliver Stone is a madman. Can I stop watching now?
Strangelove
For a movie that was so long, its strange how I dont remember a thing about Alexander. It was just really dull. Even that other movie with Brad Pitt in it was better. Still, you cant beat Gladiator.

Strangelove
No, theres another Gladiator wannabe out there that came out with Brad Pitt and Eric Bana. I dont remember the name and im too lazy to Google it.
Hot Heart
I'm not defending Troy but Gladiator is not exactly original itself. I actually found Gladiator boring as hell.

I thought you were just talking about boring movies in general, and almost everyone I know refers to Benjamin Button as "the boring Brad Pitt movie". Chewblaha
Pretty much everyone in ancient Greece was gay. If they made movies the correct way, every dude would be banging each other right before the battles. It's not that he was trying to force it upon anyone. He just wanted to let everyone know that's how it was.
RockyRan
Saw First Class over the weekend, and yes I very much liked it. It had pretty much everything I want a comic book movie to be. Serious but not too serious, fantastical, flashy without being obnoxious, sincere without being overly melodramatic, stylized without being completely detached from reality, and some heart-pumping action thrown in for good measure. My bro thought it was too cheesy, but I wholeheartedly disagree. It's a comic book movie, it HAS to be cheesy in some way. One of the things that don't look too good on the Dark Knight in hindsight. Watched it not too long ago and while it was still quite enjoyable, it just took itself way too seriously at times. You're all wrapped up in the story then you realize there's a dude with a half-burnt face and a guy in a bat suit talking like he stabbed his throat with an ice pick and the movie conversing about the pitfalls of humanity and they expect you to take it dead-seriously. It's like, no. Besides, it certainly wasn't as cheesy as that damn X-men 3 movie. Good god that thing was shit. I'm very impressed with how they were able to make an X-men movie NOT suck after the last two. Usually a reboot 7+ years after the last PoS is required before a movie from a series is considered "good" again, so kudos to them.
