Strangelove
Rise of the Planet Of The Apes is an awesome film, probably one of the best ive seen in a very long time, but that first half guarantees that Ill probably never watch it again. Its so goddamn depressing. I wasnt expecting this to be so damn sad. The last half is awesome and shit, but I think this ruined the rest of my day. Fuck. Faiblesse Des Sens
Personally I thought it was fairly cheesy and very "hollywood." Not that it was bad, just something I wouldn't watch without friends in a theater.
Strangelove
There's nothing wrong with Hollywood movies. Some are just meant to be that way. I started watching tons of Hollywood movies this year instead of indie stuff. It's begun to bother me how it's become so formulaic in the last few years. I expect a formula from Hollywood, so it fares better in my mind. I also really care about animals. I prefer them to people. Which makes me a sociopath, but that's really a whole other topic. Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
The Adventures of Tintin. Such a fantastic movie! I loved everything about it. It practically redeems Spielberg for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Hot Heart
The Frighteners I'd caught this many years ago on TV and remembered thinking it was really good. Watching it now, I can see it has a lot of problems in some respects but it is a highly-entertaining and goofy film. And it's got a little bit of Peter Jackson's old ridiculous violence thrown in. The best part is one character's head being blown clean off but their ghost has already appeared so the head is still technically 'there', albeit with a physical, bloody, gushing neck below it. Mister Jack
I second Tintin. Great movie.
CorgiShinobi
Saw Tintin whilst on vacation. It definitely is a great movie, thought my entire family was doubting me. I'm not even speaking from nostalgia since the only Tintin memories I have are of, like, two television episodes of the animated series. Mister Jack
Watched Tucker and Dale vs Evil on Netflix. Definitely the funniest slasher movie (of sorts) I've seen.
Thursday Next
Sherlock Game of Shadows was brilliant, surpassed the first imho. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol was ok, more of the same with too much BMW and Apple product placement.
Strangelove
Finally got around to seeing The Road. Liked it alot. Pretty depressing.

TCP
The lady and I watched Midnight in Paris a few days ago, might be one of my favourite films of 2011. The next night we watched Melancholia, which was absolutely the worst film ever. OK maybe it's not worse than The Day After Tomorrow or The Core, but it was pretty bad. TheFlyingGerbil
I watched Heartbeats today - I liked it better than his (xavier dolan) first film 'I killed my mother' which I think I probably put in the OK thread. I loved the music on it. It's about a male and female best friend who both befriend and become obsessed with the same man. The style was much less wearing than the first one, but I would say French Canadian is still very french style wise.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. It's a fantastic, fantastic movie, but BE WARNED; if you are not a Tim and Eric fan, if you cannot handle their comedy, then you will fucking LOATHE this movie. Here's a litmus test; http://youtu.be/GwhZ8Y82xw4 If you aren't laughing your ass off at this, then STAY THE FUCK AWAY.
Strangelove
Love Tim And Eric. Saw them live a year or 2 ago and it was pretty funny...til it turned into a rock show. I didnt even know they were making a movie though. Ill have to check it out.
Yantelope V2
Finally got around to seeing The Road. Liked it alot. Pretty depressing. The scene where the leave the black dude naked and crying freaking broke my heart.
Hot Heart
Saw The Descendants last night. I expected something a little 'lighter' but then I'd purposefully learnt as little as possible about it. It was still entertaining and well done, just in the vein of drama with the occasional bit of humour. I'm not sure if it was the hairstyle and clothes or not, but George Clooney is starting to look a little old. Not that it makes any difference, his was a solid performance and the rest of the cast were rather good also. I have to admit I did spend a lot of the time watching George Clooney's older daughter and worrying she was too young, because she really was quite beautiful. Connorrrr
Drive. If you haven't seen it yet, see it. and don't watch the trailer, it gives the best parts of the plot away.
Luftwaffles
Not even sure how to describe this movie. I guess it's a political comedy of sorts, but I feel it doesn't do it justice to describe it like that. It's so snappy with its dialogue, and the characters are all acted so well, it kind of feels like a mix between the British version of The Office and The West Wing. Plus it's streamable on Amazon for prime subscribers. I recommend it.
Strangelove
Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. It was awesome. That is all.
Battra92
Fucking AMAZING film! Seriously, I can't think of any other horror film that is so genuinely creepy as this one without being disgusting. It's just a great film! Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
The Weather Man. It was an intense drama, filled with dark comedy, incredibly depressing moments, and one hell of a performance from Nicolas Cage. He may not be perfect in some (hell, most) movies he's been in, but he was born to take on some roles.
deanb
So I watched Kings Speech the other day. Then went out so never ended up putting up my thoughts. It's good, tightly focused cast. . I'm not always one for period dramas but it was good, the upcoming war was but a back-drop. I guess it's good that the focus was on the stammer and relationship of Bert n Logue cos otherwise I'd have known the end . "Ah, Dumbledore is going to die soon". There was a part that I liked, where Albert n Logue are walking down the park and logue talks of how Albert could be the next king. Albert burst out "Do not take liberties. That's bordering on treason". "Well you could do it, you could be king" "That is treason". Just such a great bit of banter between the two. Good film. Mal
Karigurashi no Arrietty or The Borrower Arrietty. Nice and sweet. The boy's dialog at a certain time made him sound so much like an asshole but... he was stating a truth, perhaps. Also, the theme song is great too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8h8C4ifwNU
