TheMightyEthan
The first one is pretty bad, but the second is good. Luckily the first has almost nothing to do with the second, so you can just skip straight to the sequel.

Faiblesse Des Sens
It's getting time to re-watch the Alien series so what's everyone's take on what ones to watch for that?
Yantelope V2
Alien 1&2 are classic. 3 is meh, 4 is not so good.
TheMightyEthan
I'd say 1&2 are classic, 3 is terribad, and 4 is pretty bad as well.
CorgiShinobi
Definitely watch 1 and 2, but it's a toss up between 3 and 4 to me. I rather not watch either of those two, but if I had to watch one, it would come down to a coin toss.
Mister Jack
21 Jump Street. It had me laughing nearly throughout.
Johnny
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (the remake). I've never seen the original - Swedish actors are in general so shit it's not worth even trying - but this one was excellent.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Swedish actors are in general so shit it's not worth even trying Care to explain? Perhaps because I'm not from Sweden or anywhere near it I only see the best Swedish movies... but I don't feel like that's a problem with anything I've seen. Even going back to stuff like The Seventh Seal.
toxicitizen
Also watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. Thought it was fucking excellent, as most David Fincher films tend to be. But fuck waiting for Hollywood to make the sequel. I've torrented the swedish ones overnight but I'm not sure if I want to watch them or read the books instead. TheMightyEthan
One advantage of watching movies in a language you don't understand (with subtitles, of course) is that it makes it much more difficult to notice bad acting.
Nexus
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (the remake). I've never seen the original - Swedish actors are in general so shit it's not worth even trying - but this one was excellent. Are you serious? The original TGWTDT and also Let the Right One In were fantastic, and are two of my favourite films. Odd.
Johnny
Let The Right One In was a good film but most of the actors were ass. Like Ethan says, it's harder to notice bad acting in foreign languages. I've never seen a Swedish film where I thought the acting was good. If I enjoy a Swedish movie, it's in spite of the acting, not because of it.
Mal
13 Assassins. Summary on the story: Duty and what must be done are two entirely different things. The move shows it pretty damn well. Kind of black and white but it was a fun watch.
Mister Jack
I have that on my queue but I just never seem to get around to watching it. I really need to.
Hot Heart
21 Jump Street. Had a lot of great actors even just for small roles and was consistently funny. Not afraid to run with some of the absurd stuff either. Plus, great cameos.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Hunger Games was fantastic. Also re-watched 12 Angry Men recently and it was good as ever.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Saw Cabin in the Woods tonight. It was pretty creative and perfectly paced.
deanb
My sister saw Avengers last night (part of a cineworld comp). Here's her mini-review: The Avengers was incredible. I am emotionally drained. I hurt from laughing. I hurt from crying. My insides hurt from all the sexiness that was going on. Can't believe I have to wait a week before I get to see it again!!

Yantelope V2
Finally saw Thor. I liked it but for some reason I feel like I shouldn't have liked it as much as I did. The story was too compressed. The character's motivations were a bit contrived. Thor was a total tool who instantly became a great guy and falls in love with a physicist for no good reason. Loki is evil for no reason other than he's evil. I dunno, lots of plot points that are crammed together in too short a time to keep the movie under 2 hours but I still liked it. Not really even sure why. It did have a few good laughs in it.
Strangelove
I feel the same way about Thor. I liked it a lot, but its not really as well made as Captain America or Iron Man.
TheMightyEthan
I enjoyed it, but definitely felt the plot was lacking. As far as Loki goes, he was evil because he was jealous that for his entire life he's always been in Thor's shadow, the lesser of the two brothers. Kind of a lame motivation, but he does have one.
