Nexus
Inception, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Ratatouille and Juno are all the most recent films I've seen. Inception is amazing, although everyone was like "it's really hard to follow", and it really isn't. Scott Pilgrim was one of my favourite films of last year anyway. Ratatouille is good. Juno is pretty good, but I dislike Michael Cera. He's tolerable in Scott Pilgrim, not so here.
Thursday Next
Tron: Legacy. No it isn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it. So there.
Hot Heart
True Grit Wonderfully acted, wonderfully written (albeit a little too wonderfully - I'll explain) I would call that 'over-written' (a term that also applies to Tycho's posts on Penny Arcade.) Tron: Legacy. No it isn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it. So there. I wasn't expecting much going in, but it was alright. Not necessarily a bad film, but not great either. Thursday Next
Yeah, I wouldn't put Tron in the "last Great Movie You Saw" thread. But it's a good fit here. Also, good to see an 3D used creatively, rather than tacked on. I liked the flat "real world" to 3D "grid" contrast.

Exactly. I know that Jerry (Tycho) just likes to flex his mental e-peen whenever he posts for the site, and it gets kind of ridiculous sometimes. The same can be said for some of the characters in True Grit, IMO.

I'm a HUGE film snob but I will concede that other people have different scales of good to great. Good is below Great and Masterpieces on my scale. deanb
Just watched RED (Retired: Extremely Dangerous) Was quite a blast. Some pretty slick bits in it. Couldn't completely shake the whole idea that the guy is Bones. Certainly something that's all a bit silly and I think just a chance to get some high profile aging actors together n have a blast. Helen Mirran was pretty good too. It was all kind of a bit surreal I guess would be the way to describe it. Oh the plot is a bit wierd to start with, it doesn't actually bother explaining why they're on the run til about 2/3rd in but you can ignore that for the most part. Hot Heart
Are they not on the run because they 'know things'? Want to see that sometime. Original mini-series was by Warren Ellis who has written some good stuff, so a film adaptation may be OK (or completely different, you know Hollywood...) Faiblesse Des Sens
It was both completely different and a lot of fun.
Strangelove
Saw true grit last night. I loved it. Its such a funny movie that its almost a comedy. Weird.
Mr. GOH!
Last really good movie I saw was the new True Grit. Last movie I saw that I enjoyed was, beyond all my expectations, The Green Hornet. It is not a good movie, nor would I advocate anyone see it. I just sorta enjoyed it for some really weird reason. I think I was just in the mood for something stupid, even though I'm usually a hater.
Vargras
Last movie I saw was The Expendables. Sure, the plot was literally non-existent, but it was great to watch if you just like explosions and over-the-top deaths and such. Fairly entertaining in that regard. Juno is pretty good, but I dislike Michael Cera. He's tolerable in Scott Pilgrim, not so here. I'm half-tempted to call Michael Cera a terrible actor. He gets type-casted into basically the same role, regardless of the movie. Edited January 23, 2011 by Vargras

Thursday Next
Loved RED and Epxendables, I think they're from the same stable sort of. Both tongue in cheek and action packed. Both ensemble casts of oldie but goodie actors (though a different kinds of actors). I think that Malcovich totally stole RED. Stole it, ran away with it and buried it on a desert island. Plot-wise, The Expendables really had nothing at all, but it was still entertaining. And having both Stallone and Schwarzenegger break the 4th wall and poke fun at each other was pretty awesome. Mercurial
They broke the 4th wall? I was too busy with watching boobs and explosions to notice. Edited January 23, 2011 by Hakidia
staySICK
I want to see RED very much. I'm a bit of an Ellis noob, but really love his stuff that's I've read. NEXTWAVE was most excellent.

Battra92
I watched the BD of The General tonight. Damn that's a fantastic film! Buster Keaton's masterpiece is so expertly shot and yet so cleverly funny that it's one film (silent or otherwise) that is required viewing for anyone serious about film. It was one of the founding class of films inducted into the National Film Registry in 1989 alongside Gone with the Wind, Casablanca Sunset Boulevard (which features a cameo by Keaton) and Citizen Kane. Cybronx
I recently rented The Other Guys, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. I know it wasn't the greatest of movies, but I thought it was pretty clever. Will Ferrel is really a love or hate guy, and I'm inclined to say I love him. I wouldn't think of Mark Wahlberg as a comedic actor, but he actual plays his part quite well. "Fosse: Hope you like prison food... and penis." Faiblesse Des Sens
I watched Crank 2: High Voltage. I was expecting shit and got absolute ridiculous and surrealness instead. It was awesome. Non-stop violence, tits, profanity, and godzilla-esque fight scene complete with rubber costumes, etc. It was over the top in every single way it needed to be.
