Waldorf and Statler
Wreck it Ralph was fantastic. I highly recommend it. It has so much heart, plus the references are great. The jokes are too, especially if you love cheesy puns.
Mister Jack
I really want to see that one but I won't have a chance to for about a week.

Mister Jack
Ha! I got lucky and managed to squeeze in some time to see Wreck-It Ralph. Loved it.
TheRevanchist
Man, was Wreck It Ralph good! I was only half expecting a good movie, but I was wrong. And they didn't overdo the nostalgia aspect of the characters/games. Worth seeing it in the theater!

Mister Jack
So about Wreck-It Ralph... I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. While it's no Wall-e or Up, for a non-Pixar Disney movie it was really good. I sympathized with Ralph and even Vanellope, who I expected to hate. Some of the heavy moments like the two times Vanellope got her kart destroyed weren't exactly subtle, but they were still fairly effective just because the movie bothered to make me care about what happened to its characters. CorgiShinobi
Everyone around me is seeign Wreck-It Ralph, and I don't see myself viewing in the near future. Unless I do one of those things called a "date," but that's simply crazy-talk.

Hot Heart
Skyfall. It was really good. Wasn't sure what to expect going in, but it didn't feel quite like your typical Bond film. Not that it's a bad thing. Javier Bardem was outstanding and there were lots of nice little nods to the past and such. Plus, without wanting to spoil anything, it really values story over plot. Though some aspects felt a little too empty or underdeveloped, while one of the main 'themes' is perhaps too overplayed and about as subtle as a brick to the face (despite being perfectly appropriate on a meta-level). I couldn't but feel that some of the quips fell a bit flat, too. In some regards, it may be a better film, but I didn't find it quite as ultimately entertaining as Casino Royale. TheMightyEthan
Wreck-It-Ralph. I'm not ashamed to admit I got a little misty-eyed at a couple parts.

Mister Jack
When I find reviews done by people who didn't like Wreck-It Ralph, a common complaint I see is that it's another overdone story about accepting yourself for who you are....and I really didn't see the movie as that at all. Ralph's issue wasn't really that he genuinely disliked being the game's villain. He just hated being treated like crap from everyone else for being the villain. He wanted to be good, but it was for selfish reasons at first. So if I had to boil down the movie's "message" into bullet points, there'd be two of them: 1) Don't judge people based on their image. 2) Being a good guy means more than just making people like you. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, it was more about accepting others for who they are.
TheRevanchist
See, I am not tired of those types of messages. What I'm tired of seeing is: Guy meets girl. Fall in love. Something happens that makes one leave the other. The other redeems self. Two get together and the movie has happy ending. Now, I'm not tired of this completely, because who doesn't enjoy a good love story. However, this is the same damn plot for every "romantic comedy" in existence. It's horrible! This wasn't the case with the main character in WIR, which made me love the movie even more.
TheMightyEthan
That's not what happens in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! In that one they BOTH have the dirty secret, and they BOTH leave EACH OTHER! It's BRILLIANT and COMPLETELY ORIGINAL!
Mister Jack
Just once I want there to be a romantic comedy where the guy's dirty secret is that he's a cannibal or something but the girl eventually looks past all that because underneath all the murder and flesh eating he has a good heart. In his freezer.

I'm personally a fan of romance in a big epic similar to say Lord of the Rings. Wall-E was also sweet.
TheRevanchist
When Harry Met Sally is one of my favorites, because it throws in enough of two people being themselves at different stages of life. Sure, it has that basic premise, but it takes time and shows the evolution of the characters from young and self-centered to growing into mature people who understand that pride is vanity and friendship is a good basis for a relationship. Plus the soundtrack is great with Harry Conick Jr. I have bought that one about 3 times so far.

TheMightyEthan
Just to go along with the gay atmosphere: I really liked both Love Actually and Definitely, Maybe. But IIRC neither of those followed the standard plot.
deanb
Love Actually is awesome. And yeah it doesn't really follow standard romantic film plot. Especially as it's got many intertwined with each other. And it's not shit, nor does it have Jennifer Aniston in it.
Hot Heart
Not all of Love Actually is a romcom though (not meant as a judgement).
TheRevanchist
And it's not shit, nor does it have Jennifer Aniston in it. Man, you said it. I believe she is playing herself, in that she wants to have the dream life that Angelina Jolie is having.
