Waldorf and Statler
it still is a marvel movie man, summer blockbusters won't blow people away for the most part as they tend to follow fairly standard formula.
TCP
Finally got to see Guardians of the Galaxy! Super awesome! I'll have to let the hype settle to properly gauge it among my list of Marvel movie. A lot of quotable moments and great action, though my one complaint would be that the antagonist wasn't that stellar compared to the likes of other Marvel movie villains. Otherwise, I'll have to look into pelvic sorcery if I get the soundtrack. P.S. Anyone think Merle's telepathic arrow was a bit cheap? No skill, man... NO SKILL! Which is too bad because Ronan was pretty cool during the Annihilation/Nova/Guardians/Conquest runs in the last decade.... I guess I'm just disappointed as he probably won't be returning so it's kind of a wasted opportunity.
TCP
Inside Llewyn Davis I went into to this film not knowing anything about it. I think I heard it was about an 80s folk singer? So, as a huge Dylan fanatic I was pretty happy when it starts off and he's playing the Gaslight. Lots of great nods to folk singers, Ramblin' Jack, Peter Paul and Mary, and of course, Dave Van Ronk (dat album cover, yo!). The way the Coen's handled the beginning / ending was terrific too, especially with the reveal of who Llewyn was performing with. Which, obviously, would mean huge changes for the Greenwich folk scene and Llewyn/Dave.

I'm not a massive Coen brothers fan, but I adore this movie. Soundtrack is pretty nice too. That Mr Kennedy song is now burnt into my soul, I love it.
Hot Heart
His Girl Friday aka. the feature length version of this gif. One I'd been meaning to watch for a while. It's a really well-acted, tight film that moves at a nice brisk pace with a lot of back and forth and some particularly sharp dialogue. Though, like Bringing Up Baby, I am alarmed by the romantic plot that seems more like stockholm syndrome.
Waldorf and Statler
Good Will Hunting Had never seen it, decided to give it a chance with Robin Williams being gone and all. Really liked it, but more on Robin's side. Will be watching the other major movie of his I've always wanted to watch in Dead Poet's Society.

Really liked it, but more on Robin's side. Will be watching the other major movie of his I've always wanted to watch in Dead Poet's Society. Take a look at One Hour Photo. Arguably my favourite Williams performance, he's incredibly creepy. The only downside? The film has a skewed idea of just how well maintained supermarket shelving is. I work in a supermarket, it never looks that good.
Strangelove
Im rewatching the two Thor movies and it really sucks that people kind of dismiss them so easily. Theyre fun to watch, well acted and the special effects and art direction are fantastic. They just dont seem to matter much to the MCU. They add details to push the main plot forward and after credits scenes, but the overall stories are always self contained moreso than the others. Honestly, I think people take Asgard and it's visuals for granted. I always thought itd be impossible to pull off Asgard and the Asgardians and make them blend with all the other MCU movies, but they did. I also noticed that these 2 movies and the Avengers movie itself would have fallen completely apart if Tom Hiddleston wasnt so damn good as Loki. "Likeable asshole" is tough to pull off. I hope Thor 3 ends up being it's "Winter Soldier." I like these movies quite a bit.
deanb
Thor might start blending in a fair bit more now it also has GotG to join in in the "cosmic marvel" stable.
Mr. GOH!
Thor 1 directed well? 80% of the shots were unnecessarily canted, as if the camerman were drunk. Also, Natalie Portman is the most boring actress there ever was. And a lot of the Asgard stuff looks plastic, like cheap Halloween costumes. Thor 2 was better, although the villain and Macguffin were complete shit.
Hot Heart
The Thor films are good action comedies. Plus, I've always felt them a little more relevant or connected than the Iron Man films.
SomTervo
Also, Natalie Portman is the most boring actress there ever was. Hey! She has her moments! ... Well, a couple of 'em.
Waldorf and Statler
I recently learned that the ass shot in the comedy fantasy movie with her and james franco was not her ass, so any interest I had in her acting career is now gone.

Strangelove
Edge of Tomorrow. Way better than I expected. I normally dont have a problem with this, but I really had wished it was rated R or a very hard pg 13. This just seems like the type of movie where gore would make the movie better. Got that on Pre-Order. Everyone who saw it seems pretty high on it, it just didn't get much mainstream love. Science Fiction huh, who knew audiences wouldn't go for that. I watched Oldboy again last night. That octopus scene.
SomTervo
I watched Oldboy again last night. That octopus scene. My gf is a vegetarian. She's totally tolerant of people eating meat, but she's squeamish when it comes to graphic depictions of creature-flesh. That bit was a tough moment all round. You know they had to do like three takes of that scene? Because he's a vegetarian, that actor. He kept boking it back up. Check out the Making Of, you can watch it happen. Bloody horrific. TheMightyEthan
I just assumed Edge of Tomorrow would be bad because it had Tom Cruise in it.
danielpholt
I just assumed Edge of Tomorrow would be bad because it had Tom Cruise in it. Surely the film also staring the wonderful Emily Blunt negates any Cruise related shitness?

Hot Heart
Cruise is good. Blunt is good. The film was good... until the last act.
Hot Heart
RED Not much to say with this one. Great cast, nice quick-pace and simple humour and doesn't overstay its welcome. Probably the best of the 2010 'betrayed special ops' films (The Losers and The A-Team being the others) since it finds the right balance between serious and silly (though the Morgan Freeman stuff was a bit, well, crap). Not sure it needed a sequel but I might check it out someday. p.s. Moldova sucks!
deanb
Grand Budapest Hotel I watched this a while back, just only gotten around to posting. Anywho, pretty fun film, pretty much a massive Ralph Fiennes vehicle. I quite liked the story-in-a-story-in-a-story element to it (I think there was three layers?). But yeah, mostly great for watching Fiennes get on with everyone while being a massive pompous ass.

Not a huge fan of Wes Anderson (Not that I don't enjoy his stuff, I just find them hard to love - I do appreciate them though..), but I adore this film. It had me from the word go. Lucy - So I'm very much undecided on this film. I don't love it, hell I might actually hate it, I just don't know. I think it was a bit of a mess, the character of Lucy was..not good, some of the imagery was baffling and I found the plot to be all over the place; but at the same time, I kind of enjoyed myself. I mean, what did you guys think?
