madbassman39
Oh my. Those are amazing renders too! Although I appreciate the maps and love to see something that great, I always prefer to see someone create something as good of their own imagination in minecraft. I don't know how World Painter works, but man that seems like a useful tool. On a side note, I've had my since August and I have not been able to play minecraft without it crashing. I have no reason as to why. My Computer setup is as below: i7-3770k processor @ 3.9 GHz Nvidia GTX 550TI 16 GB Ram I updated Java, but still it crashes and struggles to load the game even at the lowest quality (which it should run swimmingly at the highest). Any suggestions?
CrowKnow
Unqualified troubleshooting from the top of my head... 1) redownload minecraft. First delete .minecraft folder at "C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" then run the launcher to dl everything again 2) Reinstall JRE, maybe try installing only 32 or 64 bit, if neither work then try installing both? 3) Lastly you may want to give optifine a go. Basically a jar file that you stick in the .minecraft folder which helps optimize minecraft. While I have no idea why your machine is struggling to run mc hopefully this can kind of band-aid it. deanb
http://mojang.com/2013/02/minecraft-pi-edition-is-available-for-download/ Minecraft Pi is out and it's free. As far as I'm aware it's based on Minecraft pocket, the UI is much the same, and is also programmable with Python (as is the spirit of Pi). Mal
Not sure where to put this and I don't think a new thread is proper. ANYWAYS, I got back into Minecraft because of Hakidia and excel_excel (Though I haven't seen him on).Come play with us~ Server: http://mcskyblock.com/ Shoot us a message on Steam so we can get you to us and we can get you started. We're playing on a Skygrid map. I got a tree, wheat, water melon and pig farm going. I also got a cobble generator going. So once you get here you'll be set, more or less, since I've been gathering material. The current production area (Farms and generator) I think would be a common area. We can pretty it up later as we get the production of various stuff going. Edited April 29, 2013 by MaliciousH
deanb
You're more than likely thinking of others. Excel is currently swimming among the shores of US Netflix. I might hop on, housemates BF has been throwing a chunk of Yogscast up on PS3 YT, got the itch.
Mercurial
If anyone else wants to join message me on steam with your minecraft name. So I can add you to the sponge list.
Mal
Visualization of the coding that went on. Interesting watch. I don't know if knowing how to code would help appriciate the video more but it for sure helped me, a long time player, to see what went down. Mal
https://twitter.com/dinnerbone/status/369887393253699584 I think at this point it is safe to move this thread to the multiplat subforum. I think the PS4 version, in theory, could mirror the PC version.
TCP
It'd be great if the PS4 version was able to communicate with PC versions of the game, the same way PS3/4 versions of games like FFXIV can communicate with the PC versions. But that might be wishful thinking. I'd settle for the PS3/4 versions of the game being cross play and cross save with the Vita.
deanb
http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/innovate/developers/minecraft-map-britain.html Ordnance Survey have knocked out a downloadable map of Britain for Minecraft. All 3.6GB of it. It's 50m3 per block mind, so not overly high resolution.

Mal
http://gfycat.com/GrimColossalFritillarybutterfly So, the recent snapshot introduced a few major changes to how slime works to the point its creating a brand new industrial revolution. I think this is like the third one to have happen.
Mal
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/09/12/us-mojang-microsoft-idUSKBN0H72EV20140912?irpc=932 So I have a feeling it will go through. If I imagine myself in jeb or any other dev working on Minecraft shoes, I would want out (Honestly, they don't seem to have a direction). Then again, imagine having control over the Minecraft legacy (sequel and that brand name). Is that worth 2.5 billion dollars? It isn't like Mojang is hurting for cash either. If it goes through, it will be interesting to see if Notch will keep his promise of open sourcing the PC version at the very least.
Mister Jack
Something about this makes me sad and I don't even like Minecraft.
deanb
https://mojang.com/2014/09/yes-were-being-bought-by-microsoft/ Well there you go. There's quite a lot unanswered short-medium term questions e.g what's happening with Scrolls, which staff are remaining, and what MS plan to do with Minecraft going forward. TheMightyEthan
They're saying they'll keep supporting non-MS platforms. Though there's token support and full blown support, so we'll see what actually ends up happening.
deanb
Oh I was less meaning on the support side of things, and tbh MS already acknowledges how financially supportive for thier operations Android is so it only really leaves PS3/PS4 versions in question, but by sounds of it they're doing quite already (though PS4 has the advantage of the console doing well to boot). I'm more meaning on the "will they opt to make it a monthly sub for server support" "force it to use Azure" "make it F2P" "make Flappy Creeper" and so on so forth. Mal
http://notch.net/2014/09/im-leaving-mojang/ Notch also left Mojang. I guess I can understand.Anyways, it'll be interesting to see where the Minecraft goes. Not to mention everything else Mojang. :\ Feels quite shitty honestly. I suppose this is how some of the more reasonable people felt when Oculus Rift got sold to Facebook. The future is full of unknowns. At least with the former status quo I could expect more or less the same game whenever I got back to it. Now... what am I going to see one or two years from now? TheFlyingGerbil
I don't know how new this is but it is pretty cool. Ordinance Survey has made a complete map of Britain in Minecraft that you can download. London: Snowdon: I'm always intrigued by Minecraft but something is stopping me from jumping in - I think it's just too daunting at this point and I know all the cool things I've seen it would be so disappointing knowing the simplistic stuff I'd manage to come up with. deanb
So it seems to be mixed reports on what action Turkey are taking, but their ministry has found the game to be one "based on violence" which is a bit silly http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31836323 Of all the games on the market aimed at children it's probably one of the better ones out there, certainly not something that should be banned or considered "violent". There is a peaceful mode and creative mode too.
TheRevanchist
If they don't want kids to play the game, only enable peaceful mode. That will bore them almost as badly as Rock Simulator.

TheRevanchist
Malicious, as much as I like you, I'm afraid I must negate your POV in this matter, as you would enjoy Rock Simulator way too much.
