Mister Jack
Not all good games are found on consoles or steam. Plenty of developers consisting entirely of one or two people have programmed simple flash games that are nonetheless extremely fun and addictive. If you've played a web game that you want to recommend, post it here. Facebook games do not count, by the way. Try to pick a web game that hasn't been put out specifically to make a profit via cash stores. And it has to be something that can be played within your browser. diedan
Oh god, I could fill up this entire thread. I play a lot of Flash games. I'll start out with some don't miss kind of games. (Most of these will be links to Kongregate, just because that's where I play all of my Flash games...I'm level 36!) Gemcraft Chapter 0: I suggest this over the first, simply because it's much more polished. To me, this is the be all end all of fixed path tower defense games. I never enjoyed the juggling that Desktop Tower Defense or Bubble Tanks TD required. The brilliant level design and upgrading system make it worth playing, but there's also a ton of different modes, rewards, ways of leveling up. Absolutely fantastic. Mardek: This is the first of three (so far) chapters in Mardek, a full fledged 16-bit-esque RPG. It takes a bit to get into, but the game is deep, funny, and completely rewarding to play. To give you a sense of how big this is, I put in an hour into Chapter 1, 8 into Chapter 2 (can't remember exactly), and I'm 13 or so hours into Chapter 3 and not nearly finished. And now for some shorter ones: The Company of Myself: Really clever platformer/puzzle game with a unique, fascinating story. The entire Robot Wants series: All of them are basically Metroid-ish games of wandering and upgrading, but they each have their own unique mechanic. Here are the links to all four: Robot Wants Kitty, Robot Wants Puppy, Robot Wants Fishy, Robot Wants Ice Cream. Small Worlds: Not exactly sure how to even describe it. Basically an exploration game with an added layer of exploration due to the camera mechanic. It's really, really incredible, despite a lack of challenge or risk. Chalk this up as a experimental/art game. There are so, so many more I could post...

Zuzela
This is probably quite obvious, but Samorost 1 and 2 are very charming games.
