Chewblaha
Comes out at 4pm for the PSN, it's already on XBL and I am playing it.
TheMightyEthan
I am downloading it. I'm still pissed it's not on PC though, since that's where I'm gonna get the full game.
Chewblaha
There are now five difficulty levels. Casual, Normal, Survivalist, Zealot, and Hard Core. The menu screen looks like it has to do with brain stems and such, referring to Isaac's apparent dementia.
Mister Jack
So 4PM probably REALLY means 10PM. Or "whenever everyone's hangover finally wears off."
Chewblaha
There's now an explanation on why planet-cracking takes place, and takes people through a little recap of Dead Space and gives more explanation on the red marker and the effects it had on people. Lol they just showed Hammond dying again. That was so unnecessary. Dead Space 2 takes places three years later?!
TheMightyEthan
Chew, stop double-posting.
Chewblaha
My bad. This game seems faster paced. It seems easier to melee now, which might be a bigger part of the game.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I haven't played it yet (still waiting on the download), but my impression was that they were trying to make it more action oriented for some segments. Chewblaha
OKAY DOUBLE POST, BUT ISAAC HAS A VOICE.
Mister Jack
Isaac talking wasn't really unknown.
Chewblaha
Isaac talking wasn't really unknown. I only learn few things about the game. I like to keep myself out of the loop as much as possible.

TheMightyEthan
I don't like how they changed the aiming reticule. In the first one it was actually projected into the world, so you could see it move as you pointed it at different surfaces at different distances from you, but now it's just a sprite on the hud. At least it's still different for each gun though. And is it just me, or are the skin textures on the necromorphs much lower resolution than they were in the first? Chewblaha
WHAT SICK MAN SENDS BABIES TO FIGHT ME?
TheMightyEthan
So, now that I've finished the demo, I can safely say that it's just as heart-hurty as the original.
toxicitizen
When I saw that Chew was posting details this afternoon, I got the hell out of this thread. Even though it's a demo, I didn't want to "spoil" any part of it. Just played it and it's.. the same. That's not a bad thing, it just surprised me a bit. Very often, I find that sequels will feel slightly different from the original. Whether it's because the devs tweaked the controls a bit or altered the camera slightly. Here, everything was identical, as far as I could tell. Felt right at home Though the fact that it's more of the same (and that half of the demo is what was shown at E3) means that I'm neither more or less hyped than I was before playing the demo. It's only a month from release and I don't have that giddy excitement and eagerness I felt for other big sequels like Uncharted 2 or Mass Effect 2. Might be because I replayed the original twice in a row over the summer to get the platinum trophy. Oh well, if anything the demo at least reassured me that the game will be as good as the original, if not better.
TheMightyEthan
This one felt faster to me. It felt like Isaac moved and aimed much faster than in the original. But yeah, overall they really kept the feel of the original game, which is fan-fucking-tastic in my opinion.
toxicitizen
You know, now that you mention it, there was one time when enemies were coming at me from behind and I turned around and it seemed like Isaac had turned more quickly than he used to, but it was very subtle so I didn't pay that much attention to it. staySICK
I still haven't beaten the first one. I need to get on that. Jumping systems with this game, getting the limted edition PS3 one w/ Extraction. I have the first Dead Space on 360.
