Pirandello
I heard they had a Hardcore mode with harder enemies, less ammo, and only permitted to have 3 saves. I think they should one-up that and make Nightmare Hardcore. It's Nightmare because the game will have substantially less lights in the game to keep you sane. CorgiShinobi
Dead Space has Impossible Mode, which as the name implies is very, very hard! Really, there's a reason why it's unlocked after playing the game once: Your prior experience is key to success. You have much fewer resources and about any enemy can kill you in a few seconds. It's not uncommon to have wasted a few hours in Impossible and have your progress prevented by insufficient supplies.
TheMightyEthan
How does EA gimp the PC version? I heard people complaining about how slow the aiming is, but it was crazy slow on console too.

I dunno. Just heard that people bitched about it.

CorgiShinobi
Yeah, I'd like to know what the Line Gun trick is! It would be nice to have that Platinum.
RadiantViper
Well I didn't really mean to get anyone's hopes up, it's nothing amazing, just a thing that made Impossible mode noticeably easier for me. Only equip the Plasma Cutter and Line Gun in your weapon slots. The game focuses ammo drops on what guns you're carrying, so you'll often find Line Gun ammo ... which can be sold for a tidy sum and used to purchase all the ammo, health packs and even nodes that you need. You can always put in a 3rd or 4th weapon to your equip slots if needed, but obviously you'll get less Line Gun ammo. I had so much cash during my Impossible run I sometime didn't even bother picking up other ammo or health packs dropped from enemies or in lockers and such, since I had so much of it. So this also shortens the time needed a bit. (Also, you can also use the cheat codes in the game if you like, they don't void achievements. I just didn't want to use them) Edited January 23, 2011 by RadiantViper
Mercurial
Orly? That's kind of weird. The cheats that is. Edited January 23, 2011 by Hakidia
excel_excel
Loved the first one. Getting this on PC, no demo on PC (AS FUCKING USUAL) so I'm waiting for PC port news before I get it.

Mercurial
I don't like how they changed the aiming reticule. In the first one it was actually projected into the world, so you could see it move as you pointed it at different surfaces at different distances from you, but now it's just a sprite on the hud. At least it's still different for each gun though. And is it just me, or are the skin textures on the necromorphs much lower resolution than they were in the first? You can change it under options brah. The reticle I mean. Edited January 24, 2011 by Hakidia
TheMightyEthan
That's a weird thing to have an option for, seems like they'd just make it one way or the other. *Edit* - I just checked, and at least on the demo it's not an option. Did they announce a change for the final version or something?
Mercurial
It is an option in the demo.
MetalCaveman
Here, though I'm not sure if you can tell the difference in these pics, it's certainly an option in the demo Though the fact that they decided to put it under "classic" or "center" makes it confusing and hard to find
TheMightyEthan
I'm blind. In other news, I've decided to cancel my preorder. I've got plenty of other games to play, and as much as I loved Dead Space, I find I don't actually enjoy playing it all that much.

TheMightyEthan
Gametrailers has their review up: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-dead-space-2/709734 This highlights why I like Gametrailers' reviews: even though this is a positive one, they liked the game very much, it gives me enough information to see that I was likely correct in cancelling my preorder. I'll wait until it's on sale. Based on that review, though, I'm sure plenty of you will love it, and that's a good thing.
deanb
I believe we'll have a review and CE unboxing later tonight. Also weren't folks wanting to use Dead Space 2 as a start of the "VG Book Club" thing?
MetalCaveman
Sounds good to me, except for that part where they say dismemberment sort of takes a back seat and stuff . The multi-player part... Well, I don't think many expect a good multi-player part on a game previously known as purely single-player right? Anyway, called the local store, they said they won't have the game until tomorrow or something, so that gives me time to complete Dead Space. Edit: @ Dean, yeah, but no one else posted there, so I'm not sure what's going on with that now Edited January 25, 2011 by MetalCaveman
Mister Jack
Wasn't this supposed to come with a code for Dragon Age armor? I don't see one in my box.
TheMightyEthan
From Gamespot's forums: So I got the collectors edition of Deadspace 2 and I didnt have a card for the Dragon Age 2 armor. I called EA and they said once you redeem your online pass it puts the DLC on your account for DA2. He also said that you will just download it through DA2 like how DAO was and that it will show up once you sign on to your account through DA2.
