This thread is for discussion of Steam and its' glorious sales and events.

Currently, Steam is having a Treasure Hunt with great discounts for games associated with said hunt. Check http://store.steampo...om/treasurehunt for details. Also, the Epic and broke-gamer making holiday sale is on the way. Anything you'd like to see slashed down in price or games you're simply planning on picking up regardless?

Steam Support is pretty awesome. I had a problem with buying games during the sale a few weeks back, and I got an answer in about 20 minutes from them with a fix. Not bad at all.

I've picked up Chime, Poker Night, and Mafia II so far from this Treasure Hunt. Chime and Mafia are two great games, and I've got the objective shit for both, but Poker Night was hell boring. Took me about 3 hours to get the Heavy's weapon, will never ever touch that game again. The chat around the table gets boring when you hear it for the third time...

The first TF2 hat is an ugly lil' fucker too.

Hah. It's such a mixed bag. Ethan has had major issue with them the past week. Whereas I know some people who've even had games refunded, despite their policy of no refunds.

So far I've only grabbed some of the very cheap titles in the current sale.

AaaAAaaaA, Chime and Shatter

Keeping most of my funds for the holiday sale in hopes of picking up some big titles I missed over the year.

The biggest items on my shopping list would be:

-Just Cause 2

-Fallout 3 GOTY (finished the original game 2 years ago but havent played any of the DLC yet)

-Splinter Cell Conviction

-Borderlands DLC

I grabbed such an insane amount of stuff last year that this year can't possibly compare.

I would imagine it (Civ V) will be on sale during the proper holiday sale (which is believed to begin on the 20th), but I wouldn't expect anything more than 25% off, to be honest, since it's still pretty new.

I still can't believe I actually got it for free on D2D B)

You know what, 25% off is still pretty goddamn good.

Well then you just missed a good chance then. Last week ( or week-end, not really sure anymore ) there was an event on Direct2Drive where you could get 20% off anything by using the promo code HOHOHO. Now it's over though.

I don't normally use D2D as I prefer to have all my games on Steam, but sometimes it can be pretty sweet to get good deals on games that you have to register on Steam anyway. When I pre-ordered Black Ops they offered a pre-load, but for Civ V they don't even provide data to download. When I click to "download" the game it just brings up a page with a cd-key and instructions on how to register it on Steam.

I just picked up Just Cause 2 (it was cheap enough) and Beat Hazard.

Beat Hazard is damn fun, though my WASD fingers got pretty cramped up after an hour or so.

Picked up JC2 as well! It's done downloading now, can't wait to try it later! I've been wanting to play it for a while now.
