Umm...

Steam Cloud Error: Steam was unable to sync your files for ____ with the Steam Cloud. If you have launched this application for another computer, your application settings and/or progress may not be in sync with what is stored in the Cloud. If you launch the application now, you may lose those changes or other progress

Has anyone else ever seen this with EVERY game they're trying to run? I've seen it a couple of times before, when recovering from a crash (and Steam did crash in the background of Dungeon Defenders last night, though I didn't know until it was time to exit the game), and I just ran the game. This time when I tried to continue one, it seems all my savegame data for that game is gone....

Oh yeah, Merry Christmas.

I've only had it go wrong once and that was with Rock of Ages and a known bug at the time (well..known once their forums filled with "your game ate our save data"). You can, and if you're only one one PC somewhat recommended I guess, disable the Steam Cloud stuff. Right click the game > Properties > Updates > uncheck the "enable steam cloud" box.

I know about a month or so ago under recommendation on reddit tweak the "you've newer/older cloud saves" box to give specific times and dates to let you pick which you want to keep.

I would guess Steam might be straining a bit at the moment with lots of folks getting new games and such. Making sure it's fully exited before shutting down PC would probably be a good idea (steam will bring a little window up of "finalising Cloud sync" or similar)

It's so weird, I had exited twice without any of the usual syncing, and the support page seemed to be down too. I guess it must've been a traffic issue. The last exit got a successful sync in though, and upon reboot, life is back to normal. That was scary for a second there. Thanks man.

I don't understand this sentence. Are you saying there's a way to set it to tell you exactly when the files were saved?

It used to pop up with a warning that of your local files and cloud files one was newer than other (they should be same age) and to pick which to keep, no sign which is newer. It now includes the exact timestamp for the local and cloud files. I'll see if I can grab the reddit link later.

edit: Couldn't find the reddit thread (cos their search is worse than this place) but did find pretty much the exact same thing via google to illustrate:

Right Steam lets you, as of quite a while ago, add in custom images for the Grid view in Library (including to Steam games, not just non-steam games). However at the moment if you're wanting to find images for these you're kinda having to trek around the web through various forums and such to get them, there's (as best I can tell) no singular repository and certainly nothing sortable. So I figured maybe worth doing it myself?

This is what I've got in WAMP at the moment. It's just running off some gallery software called Piwigo with a theme on it and various settings tweaked. Tomorrow I might make a sub-domain and make something live on the site (though if it's something to make properly then I'd probably get a proper domain)

Would any of you make use of such a site? Think it's a good idea? Have any thoughts/suggestions/offerings of help?

What I'd like, but seem to be unable to do with this, is to add in Oauth support, and sort out the homepage. Tweaking the homepage is possible, but it's pretty much raw HTML/piwigo mark-up which I don't know.

Well the ones I have at the moment, mainly to populate it with something so I can play around with the options, are yanked from imgur. Though I'm aware some of them seem to be the ones Steam has by default for some games (Which I'd aim to avoid). Potentially a hurdle to be crossed, easy enough to add disclaimers and remove content as n when.

Looks good, having to dig through forums or horribly crop images myself is kinda a pain. Would definitely use it although most of my library is on steam. The only games I'd really be using custom icons on are: steam games that don't have them ie. Amnesia Fortnight prototypes, games that'll never be on steam like blizzard games and some desura games though there are a growing number of those being passed through greenlight.

http://steamicons.blogspot.ca/ is the only other sight I know that's attempted to do this but, it was kinda sparse and a lot of entries seemed to be pulled from forum threads. Doesn't seem to actually be up so here's the cache for the page.

Oh W&S, the hater's hater. Given it's all community rated (and reported) you're probably not going to see anything like that, at least not near the top. Certainly no sign of any at the moment. Why bother making a Guide anyway when you can just hop onto the Discussion tab and rag on the game there?

http://steamcommunity.com/chat/

This is now a thing.

And now also extra goodness in the beta too:

http://steamcommunit...915144362275196

tl;dr:

- New Steam updater (it's no longer the grey box of yore, but I think that might get skinned later on)

- Beta updates will use the beta changelog and not the usual client changelog (which normally is a few weeks out of date and irrelevant)

- Offline Messaging

- Logged chats (means it'll act a bit like forum chat in having some of the prior messages in the window)

- Removed "/me" which kinda sucks

- Oh and a steam group for Betas which I just linked.
