TheMightyEthan
It's not just for the hell of it, it is for a specific person, my step-brother, but I don't want to give it to him until Christmas day.
deanb
So 15 minutes and we all get ready to DDOS Steam. Who's gonna join me?
Akuam4n
Loads, but not everything for me. Guess I'll go to the bank. I'll most likely just buy Amnesia and Super Meat Boy.
Mister Jack
I can't see the page. Is Crysis on sale? My friend who bought me Civ V has wanted to play it.
TheForgetfulBrain
Steam is currently being crushed by the Black Friday-esque digital stampede. Specials don't seem to be up yet, far as I can see. BOO. Eager curiosity is interrupting my studying.
Akuam4n
I can't see the page. Is Crysis on sale? My friend who bought me Civ V has wanted to play it. I don't think so, most of the stuff on sale is indie / casual games as far as I can tell. I think I saw a lot of Civ IV stuff too, and the usual publisher mega packs. Unless I am looking at the wrong thing. I scrolled through all 100 under specials on the front page. Finally loaded.

I'm assuming they'll have it on one of the daily specials, like last year. Crysis, the MP and the expansion were all on sale for like $12 or something. Mister Jack
Is it the same sale all week or is it gonna change every day?
TheMightyEthan
It usually changes every day, but I don't see any mention of a sale at all on the main page.
deanb
Is it the same sale all week or is it gonna change every day? It usually changes the Daily Deals, but pretty much all the games will be on sale (except COD's) for a consistent discount throughout the next 2-3 weeks. So it's best to only buy things in the Daily Deals, wait until the last day to make sure you don't go 'Oooh 30 % off!' then the next day its 90% off in the daily deal. In other news, though the daily deals aren't up front page yet, I'm sure they will any moment... Annnnny moment now... Also, Super Meat Boy is $3.75 - wondering if that's one of the 'daily deals' we can't see yet, cause that's a ripping discount for a game that was just released, indie or not. LaunchOctopus
Oh Steam sale this is the first christmas one I'll actually be able to buy from, luckily none of the daily deals appeal to me today, they'll have to wait a bit for my money
TheForgetfulBrain
Holy crap. Stuff is up and this looks like the best Xmas sale yet. Even the first day has tons of stuff I want to buy - but the indie pack bundles are ridiculous too, as are some of the other 'all sale-long' deals. And this is only the first day for dailies? My bank account's in trouble...
LaunchOctopus
How many days is it on for? Daily Deals throughout?
TheMightyEthan
I think it's on through Jan 3. And yeah, daily deals throughout.
toxicitizen
So it's best to only buy things in the Daily Deals, wait until the last day to make sure you don't go 'Oooh 30 % off!' then the next day its 90% off in the daily deal. Yeah, that's definitely the smartest way to go about it. Anything that's not a daily deal can get a better discount ( unless it's already ridiculously low, like under 5 bucks). So far this looks awesome all around. The store in unsurprisingly unbrowsable at the moment, though... Was hoping for a bigger discount on F3 GOTY, so that's kind of a bummer, but I'll probably get it anyway. Bad Company 2 is pretty appealing at that price, but I've already completed the SP campaign and I don't really see myself playing much of the multiplayer, so that would be the very definition of an impulse purchase... Will definitely be grabbing Super Meat Boy, though. Surprised to see it on such a big discount since it just came out.
Dev_Revenge
Super Meat Boy for $3.75 is a steal. Fantastic platformer and I've loved every bit of it on 360. Wanted to get the steam version for the user created content, at that price I don't mind double-dipping. Also grabbed Battlefield Bad Company 2 for $6.79 and Professor Winterbottom for $0.49. Mister Jack
Ok I'm trying to buy Super Meat Boy but I can't. First it said my credit card was declined, then it said there was an error initializing the transaction. Super Meat Boy is in my library, but I can't install it and I never got any receipt for it. What the fuck?
Little Pirate
You must have pissed T-H-E-M off.
toxicitizen
I'd say contact steam support? That kinda stuff seems to happen a lot during big Steam sales, but it never happened to me
TheForgetfulBrain
You know, I was jonesing for some Fallout 3 (I have it on console, didn't get very far) a while back, and was going to re-buy it for Steam, but I'm not so sure anymore. I've recently gotten into Stalker, and for me, it's like Fallout 3 except prettier and with more enjoyable combat. Also a bit less insane with the amount of stuff you can do (which is always a problem with me - I get sidetracked to no end), but no less involving. If New Vegas goes on a crazy deal, I might get that though.
deanb
I'd recommend New Vegas over 3 at this point. Though 3 has DLC.. Either way both have pretty much the same Mods, so on that front it's a non-issue (but always a reason worth getting the PC version)
Mister Jack
Really, both games have their pros and cons. If you enjoy one, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy the other.
deanb
Oh you can enjoy both. But I'd say New Vegas is the more improved game. Though I wouldn't of minded a more hodge-podge town like Megaton in the Mojave. The towns are a bit plain. But the characters and groups within are all good.
