deanb
So it works at least? Phone is having issues with it. Dawn French did a few if you Google about. One with a Japanese lass tapping in contrast to the whack it. Good one.

Gyaruson
I know what you're talking about, with having to whack the chocolate orange, Dean. I've never liked chocolate oranges, but my sister had an ungodly obsession with them back in her high school years. I also got this from my wife. It's silly, I know. TheMightyEthan
Innova Star FL disc (sooooo want to try out the new disc; now I just need it to be Spring) It's pretty...except mine is yellow. So, this disc, what purpose does it serve? Is it like a frisbee?
diedan
For disc golf. Each disc does a particular thing (you have discs for putting, mid-range shots, drives, etc.). They all fly slightly differently depending on how they're shaped too. This here is an overstable driver, meaning it'll curve left and crash hard at the end, which is great for left-turn fairways or really windy conditions. I've been meaning to get a new driver for next Spring and I'm pretty pumped about this one. /disc golf nerd

diedan
No, I didn't. And I know, right! You'd think my mom would have known better. Seriously, though, I'm not a huge fan of the stuff, myself. It is true though, most of the disc golf players out on the course are biiiiiig into the weed. There's a few of us who aren't. Like, literally, a few.

diedan
Oh that just reminds me of how I still don't own Howl's Moving Castle. What is wrong with me!? I finally, finally bought Princess Mononoke earlier this year. It is easily one of my favorite movies, ever. Miyazaki is wonderful.
slithy toves
yeah, my nieces still see him just as the guy who did ponyo, so i'm really trying to remedy that asap.

Awesome, AWESOME movie. I actually was playing the soundtrack on my iPod on the way to work. We do lists in my family. It takes a lot of the fun out of it but they were good and surprised me by finding my Amazon Wish List.
diedan
At least get them to watch Totoro! I mean, there's a catbus! A CATBUS! Who doesn't love catbuses!? Ponyo was...all right.
slithy toves
yeah, we do lists too and we usually just make them long enough so that it's still a little surprising and / or we'll give general ideas but she flaked out this year and told me to shop for myself. i mean, not bad at all, not really complaining but a little of the fun got sucked out of it. edit: dan, i've gotten them to watch totoro. and they like castle in the sky. my sister is afraid to let them watch howl's moving castle because i like it (meh, can't say i blame her so much, not exactly known for having the most child appropriate taste) but now that i own it it's inevitable that they shall see its greatness. second edit to fix terrible grammar. Yantelope
my parents love Miyazaki's films which surprises me because they're pretty conservative people.
diedan
Everybody loves Miyazaki! I haven't met anyone who has seen his stuff that didn't like it. I need to watch more.
slithy toves
well, if you filter out the dark they're whimsical and enchanting. my sister loves them but gets upset with them at befuddling times and asks me if all japanese people are like that, to which i remind her we're both american and nothing alike. she was so mad that the mother in ponyo left her young child home alone she even once told me that if she'd known that she wouldn't have let her kids see it. she's a nutbar. Mister Jack
I'd hate to see what happened if she watched Mononoke while considering dog ownership.
diedan
That sounds like what my parents did with movies. Although they were probably much, much worse. Seriously, growing up, I swear I was only allowed to watch a handful of movies. They'd get all weird about the strangest things. I swear to god we were forced to walk out of the Care Bear movies because there was too much magic? SUPER CONSERVATIVE! They're so much better now.
