deanb
I thought you're only 19? And nah I'm pretty sure 'shiny pokemon' is a new thing. Well GBA onwards at the very least, though I've only come across the term in the DS years.
Toshi
I turn 24 this year dude. also it's been around since g/s/c remember the red gyarados in the lake of rage? Edited January 9, 2011 by Toshi
ixa
shiny Shandshrew encounter in gen2. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Shiny#Generation_II
deanb
Is that now retroactively a 'shiny' pokemon? Anyway I thought 'shinies' are like random chance things. Red Gyrados is specific part of the story. Nothing random about him. He's just a red Gyrados instead of blue. I remember it took my tons of tries to capture that dude. And no I didn't realise you were 24.
ixa
shinies are random chance, yeah. but red Gyarados is still a shiny. Gyarados' shiny sprite is red. they just made a shiny Gyarados part of the storyline and made it so that it would always be shiny when you go to battle him. shiny Pokemon have been in the games since the 2nd generation. deanb
Well Red Gyrados is the only one I ever came across then. Also why 'shiny' when they're not very 'shiny'. Why not 'Palette Pokemon' to reference it being a palette swap?
Toshi
He still counts as a shiny pokemon as he has the animation and any magikarp you do find that is shiny does become a red gyarados, he's just a storyline shiny gyarados to introduce their existence I believe. I am still rather annoyed that the shiny butterfree isn't the pink one.
ixa
Well Red Gyrados is the only one I ever came across then. that's because they're just really rare. Also why 'shiny' when they're not very 'shiny'. Why not 'Palette Pokemon' to reference it being a palette swap? "The term "Shiny Pokémon" refers to the sparkling sound effect and animation made at the start of an encounter with one in the games; however, official sources have used the term Shiny." Akuam4n
Well Red Gyrados is the only one I ever came across then. Also why 'shiny' when they're not very 'shiny'. Why not 'Palette Pokemon' to reference it being a palette swap? They make the special noise each time you release one, but usually you just get a different colour scheme ala Gyrados. Some are cool, and some are horrendous. I feel sorry for those people who reset thousands of times to get shiny starters.
berieber
Or at the very very least, let me manipulate menus while attack animations are running. Anything to speed up the plodding pace of combat. Even without animations, it's very very slow. I'd almost welcome an ATB system, just because that would force the game to keep on moving! Bit of a late response, but have you seen 'Super Pokemon Eevee Edition' because that basically uses that.
