Hot Heart
Seeing as LBP2 is on its way, seems like a good time to start a thread for all things LBP. I've played the LBP2 demo and I quite enjoyed some of the new additions. Grappling hook seems like it should be fun, and jump-pads make for some more interesting platforming. Or at least, more lively. Here's an idea of what you can expect Platforming's still a little dodgy but nothing 'game-breaking'. And, when creating levels, it looks like you can really tweak some of the settings in the actual controls, by making players assume control of a 'sackbot' upon starting a level. This one looks a bit scrappy but you get an idea of what can be done. Also, let us share any great levels we find. I'll start by linking one that I believe was in a 'best of' level contest and really stuck in my mind. I'll link more once I check my hearted levels. Finally, I propose we try and get some LBP-playing groups together; as that's always a lot of fun. I know it's more of a thing for event planning but, at the moment, it's probably best to get an idea of who's interested and when they play etc.
Mister Jack
I still get this sinking feeling that despite all these new features, I will be unable to make anything worth a damn in this game just like in the first one.
D-K
With all the new features, I really hope they rework the tutorial mechanic. Having to watch every single tutorial video was grating, especially since the mechanics involved were so simple. Making tutorials mandatory in order to unlock content is just stupid, there is no positive in that mechanic. It is based on restriction, rather than creation, which kinda defeats lbp's purpose. Perhaps I analyze games too much though. Sometimes my relentless observational skills get the better of me.. In the first game, I made the best level the world had ever seen, only to lose it shortly after creation. I was so devastated, I didn't create anything else, nor did I touch the game again. I have a feeling I won't be playing lbp2 much either, but I'm buying it anyway because I really appreciate what it accomplishes in terms of user/developer interaction. It's an initiative any avid gamer can get behind, and Media Molecule is one of the few devs that gets DLC just right. Hot Heart
Yeah, I doubt I can make anything truly decent. I did start to make a puzzley level but I just got distracted by other things and didn't have the patience. Hopefully they've simplified a lot of the basic things. I do enjoy trying out all the other things people have made though. A good game to play for a half-hour or so every now and then..

deanb
Wait it's out? Wow. I thought it was April game or something Fuck, did Sony just completely skip on marketing or something. I've seen bot all to suggest it's out on Friday. Just trailers coming out at a steady pace for several months.
Mal
I should get it for my younger brother (~13). He likes to play the first game which isn't a bad game at all. LBP2 has tons of potential.

CorgiShinobi
Well I thought we'd have more NA than UK members playing the glorious LBP2. I guess I'll hold out until the 21st to gush about, you know, everything!

CorgiShinobi
I finished the Story today, and I will say that every game coming out later this year is going to have to really convince me that it deserves GOTY more than LBP2. I'm not even sure how to describe this to you guys. I mean, the sequel has built itself upon the foundation of the first and exploded! The charm is greatly enhanced by the characters, and just some of the things you overcome in each level makes me amazed at how someone could make such a level. I mean, theoretically, anyone could make the same levels with the tools presently available to them in Creation. I've got to say though, they must be magician. Hot Heart
I'm not sure how far I am through the story (finished four 'areas', I think) but there have been some great levels. Loving the new gadgets and the possibilities they bring, even if the creatinator (or 'cakeinator' in this case) was a bit dodgy to use. I like that there's now a 'Mm Picks' channel too. So you're usually guaranteed some good community levels there.

CorgiShinobi
Yikes... Don't think I could ever ace some of the sections... Honestly, I feel like the first LittleBigPlanet was tougher than this one. Perhaps it was the focus on platforming that made the first harder. I mean to say that with this one, well, you have a lot of focus on the new gadgets, and the gadgets are pretty tough in their own regard. Still, there were a few levels that were tough to Ace. Mainly half of the Cosmos levels, and an Eve's Asylum level were tough.
excel_excel
Played it with friends a few days ago, great fun some of the community levels are amazing, the Zelda one was awesome! love the grappling hook too
DarkMalice
If anyone liked the Zelda dungeon recreation, you should really check out the Donkey Kong Arcade remake. The only thing that's missing is the retro music, and honestly, that wouldn't take too long make with LBP's toolset. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv-i0RJ-UbA Edited February 3, 2011 by DarkMalice
CorgiShinobi
Yeah, I've played the Donkey Kong level and it's really good. There are some errors, mainly the barrels, but it's a great piece of LBP work. Personally, I like the Sackbot tech demo levels. Some of the stuff you can pull off with the Sackbots is amazing! Hot Heart
I finished my LBP2 level, if anyone wants to give it a go! http://lbp.me/v/xcexk9 Special thanks (or blame) to Smooves for helping me test it. Mal
Looks like my younger brother will be getting LBP2 for his birthday in a week. LBP2 party?
CorgiShinobi
As long as it's before Killzone 3. Part of me wants to try making more advanced levels, but the horror of my last disaster in LBP1 haunts me. All the hours wasted, and I didn't even get to finish the entire thing. Mal
After the bad pacing of Castlevania, time for some cuteness of LBP2.
