TheFlyingGerbil
without camera controls is different! I say that though, but am currently wondering myself whether to play Majora's Mask straight away or wait until I get a New 3DS - one reason of which is having the camera control on the c stick, the other being the 3D that doesn't crap out every time I move slightly as I thought the OoT remake looks ace in 3D so will definitely have it turned on for MM. With the circle pad though, I just couldn't face a hunk of plastic junk that would sit there taking up space the second I put the game down. It would drive me mad the same as I have so many things I want to throw away. So I'll either being doing without the extra control or waiting until I get the new console. I think writing the out I've convinced myself to wait.
CorgiShinobi
Are you saying you love Spirit Tracks as much as A Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time?? I have my favorites, just don't let them know. Except Ocarina of Time; they all know Ocarina is my favorite.

Mister Jack
Damn it Nintendo, why do you always run out of the special editions of everything you sell before they even release? I really wanted the Majora's Mask version of the New 3DS but I can't even preorder the damn thing.

TheFlyingGerbil
Every time they announce something big, like this new hardware iteration I hope they'll announce software tied to you account not your hardware, speaking of. With the announcement of the discontinuation of club nintendo to be replaced with a new scheme... my hopes are building again. Surely the system has to be significantly different rather than just tinkering for them to make their announcement. Maybe it will be the premium bonus thing made as the main reward system, but that would disclude retail games. Have their been any hints as to what will be coming? Thursday Next
disclude I checked, and according to some sources it is a word. Just wondering why you used it in place of the more common "exclude"?
TheMightyEthan
Don't know about TFG, but sometimes I like to use non-standard prefixes and suffixes just for fun.

TheFlyingGerbil
I feel like exclude has negative connotations like shunning someone you don't like from a group whereas disclude seems more neutral. This is only my feelings toward the words though and nothing to do with correct use of English. I don't have a great technical knowledge of English as when I was taught it was all that nonsense about using it to express your feelings and not about how it actually works. CorgiShinobi
Currently selling my original 3DS on eBay and getting a fair amount to begin with considering the New Nintendo 3DS is half a month away. Don't know what I'll end up doing with my 3DS XL since I need to keep it for the system transfer, though I imagine someone out their would like it for collection purposes. Mister Jack
What do you guys think the odds are that Nintendo will put out more Majora's Mask New 3DS units? I mean after the launch, not before, because clearly I've lost my window to get it before. Since there aren't any New 3DS exclusive games just yet, I'm starting to wonder if I should just wait a bit on getting one in the hopes of getting a Majora version. If I do that, though, I won't be able to get it cheaper by trading my current 3DS. I suppose I could try selling it on eBay, but there's no guarantee there and it would be more of a hassle. Hm...decisions, decisions...
CorgiShinobi
It's possible, but expect high demand still and scalpers claiming in-store inventory. At this point I'm okay with a simple red New 3DS. It happens to match the red color of my AmazonBasics case so that's an aesthetic plus. Now I'd like to get the Limited Edition of Majora's Mask because I'm a sucker for that Skull Kid statue. EDIT: If you actively want to keep track of online stock, nowinstock.net is a good resource. I didn't bother signing up because by the time you get the alerts, a couple thousand will have the same result. Mister Jack
I know that when you come down to it the only difference is aesthetic, but I've never had a cool special edition version of any console or handheld. Pretty much every device I own is plain old black. I'd like to have a cool version for once.
CorgiShinobi
My used 3DS ended up giving me $100 on eBay. Considering all the different factors at work, I would consider myself lucky. Then again, I had everything saved from purchase, so that's probably why I got so much. I still have some holiday money left over, so it looks like I'm only paying $30 out of my own pocket!
TheMightyEthan
So Nintendo has revealed the process for transferring your shit from a 3DS to a New 3DS! Behold: Go through the setup on your New 3DS, download the latest software, but do not create a new Nintendo Network ID on this system as it will overwrite your old one. On the home menu, go to System Settings, then Other Settings, then System Transfer. On both systems select "Transfer From a System in the Nintendo 3DS Family." Select "send" from the old system and "receive" to the new one. Follow the prompts to confirm the transfer. Select "delete" to erase the content on the New 3DS's microSD card. Select "no" on the New 3DS to confirm that no other microSD cards have been used with the system. Select "yes" on the old 3DS to confirm that you're using an SD card (these come with the system, so you likely are). Select wireless transfer. Select "move" on the source system. Once this is complete the old 3DS will format and the New 3DS will restart. Microsoft and Sony's systems: Login.
Mister Jack
What if you put a high capacity SD card in the new one before starting it up for the first time? Does that still count as no other cards being used? Fuck, I can't believe I even have to ask questions like this.
TheMightyEthan
No idea.
CorgiShinobi
By default I wouldn't bother putting a new microSD into the New 3DS first because you can always copy-paste onto the new memory card after the System Transfer. I don't know why they would ask you about the memory card as the current 3DS systems, as I recall, don't mention it when setting up a transfer. Not to mention who knows what the default card has held on it for the initial boot. You know this is sad when trading Pokemon has become more sophisticated than having modern accounts. Mister Jack
That's another thing. How exactly would I upgrade the SD card in a 3DS? I bought a 32 GB for when I eventually manage to get my hands on the New 3DS, but there's a part of me that's deathly afraid that when I try to upgrade the card I'll lose all my saves and downloads forever because of some Nintendo bullshit I wasn't aware of. Take Animal Crossing for example. I have a lot of time invested in my town. If I do the system transfer before changing SD cards, how can I be sure my town won't be wiped? What's the process? CorgiShinobi
It's ghetto in this day and age, but when I said copy-paste, it really is about using a PC to backup and transfer data between an old card and a new card. The System Transfer doesn't require that method exclusively because what it will do is erase the content on the receiving 3DS system and transfer all the data from the sending 3DS. You can choose to transfer by wireless, but to me that has the potential for disaster.
TheFlyingGerbil
you should copy the content of your current SD card to you PC /before/ you do a transfer, as once that is started who know where the hell your data is until the transfer is finished.
